Secret City DGC at Carl Yearwood Park 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 15, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Secret City DGC is a 9 Hole course located at Carl Yearwood Park in Oakridge, TN. This isn't one of those courses that is an absolute must play, but if you are in the area and have some free time, make sure you check this one out. It is a fun little 9 hole to play with multiple tees for every hole. There are also multiple pin positions per hole that alternate on occasion. This is a small but nice little park with a great use of the land used to design the course. It looks like the course designer tried to us every single element possible when designing this course and was successful, completing the latyout with a creek running through Hole 9's fairway! That hanging basket is a nice touch. Most of the holes are tightly wooded so hitting your lines off the tee pads is a very important part of getting a good score here. As I said not an absolute must play but you will definitely have fun at this course! If you want to see this course on video, check out my crew playing the course in the video below...

Cons:

No major cons really... just simple room for improvement. Would love to see the addition of concrete tees and multiple baskets per hole so you have the option to play whichever layout you want on any day.

fun 9 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 11, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

nice little 9.
easy to follow
cool technical holes
easy parking
nice park

Cons:

gets muddy.
it's only 9 holes
no tee pad

Other Thoughts:

This is a great course to bring a few discs and work on control and lines. It's not just a pitch and put- there's some real challenge in these shorter holes.
It does get muddy depending on weather, so wear the right shoes!
like the other course in OR, this would be a +1 star with tee pads

Better than a two... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 26, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Clean. Safe. Technical. Unique 'signature hole' (Hanging basket over a creek on #9). Quick play. Ample parking. Shelter. Walking track and playground.

Cons:

Ground tees. Could use a couple of trees taken out (and this is coming from a guy who enjoys wooded holes!). Lack of elevation.

Other Thoughts:

This was the first course my son and I took in while having a w/e trip to the Knoxville area. We enjoyed playing this course as it was quick and rewarded accurately released tee shots. Still, an errant throw can turn what appears to be an easy deuce into a bogie; so let the buyer beware!

Decent course for precision. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 24, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This is a good course to practice your precision on. There isn't alot of room to let a distance driver rip 300 yards, so all you really need is a mid-range and a putter. The hidden tees give an extra challenge for the more advanced players. The hanging basket on hole 9 is a nice touch, as well. The flow of the course is set up nicely, You dont have to worry about getting lost here. Everything seems to be pretty linear. It generally takes around 30 minutes to play if you are alone or with a small group. This makes it good for a quick game to pass the time.

Cons:

There isn't alot of variety here. Most of the holes are in dense wooded areas. One bad throw can throw off your entire game. Once again, there is only one hole that is open air, and thats on 8. Other than that, prepare to dodge trees.

Other Thoughts:

Its a good course for practice on your precision throwing. If you are looking for variety, so to Groves park on the other side of town, but if you want a wooded excursion, this is a course that's fit to you.

Challenging Short Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 8, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course can be really tough with lots of challenging throws through the woods. Some of the holes feature pretty creative uses of the space available. Good flow, with the hole on 9 being on the opposite end of the parking lot from where you began.

Cons:

Kind of repetitive. Just about every hole has you throwing into or out of the woods. No real opportunities to let loose with a big throw.

Small But Challenging.......... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 21, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

If you want to get in a quick round this is the course for that. This course offers two natural tee pads at each hole. There is also "secret pads" known to locals as "Fearwood". These offer longer and more challenging throws.

Cons:

I wish this course offered 18 holes but it is very in the amount of space available.

Other Thoughts:

The hanging basket on 9 is a fantastic touch. Great use of the space available!
