Fantastic 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 28, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great direction signs to a large degree of varying layout along some well maintained paths. Absolutely fantastic course for the intermediate to the beginner and a good course for the more advanced.

Cons:

Starts with nice concrete pads bit then changes to fine granite sand which gets kicked up into your shoes.

Watch the water hazard a of the disc hours on it is probably lost forever. There are a couple of holes which this is highly likely if you go at them from a distance and it would be nice to have a catch area here which could easily still be marked as ob.

Other Thoughts:

Played with my daughter and we both have a 150, and really enjoyed the course. Never had a problem locating the next tee our problems finding a disc. Has been a few years since a review has been written so wasn't sure how we would find the course a they sometimes fall on rough times but we were not disappointed and glad we had chosen this course. The shorter course really made it fun for us.

A Fun Saturday Leisure Round 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 23, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

Fun course, secluded from other activity and with a good layout thru the property. It was a really fun (2) rounds played with friends at this here. This course is well kept and easy to navigate. Lots of Deuces to be had here. Worth making a stop to play.

Cons:

Some older tee signs are harder to make out the hole details. So it pretty much meant taking a peak around ther corner or taking a few steps forward to gage the required flight paths, distance etc. but by no means a major henderence.

Other Thoughts:

Mostly short holes but a few offer some challenge(especially with a drop off to deep water close behind a few of the targets) I recommend making a leisure round of DG at this course. Only about a 35 minute drive for me so... I'll be back again for anopther fun round.

Fun short course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 17, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

First and almost foremost...land is for one thing only - throwing plastic at metal! No hikers, walkers, bikers etc. Just folks throwing them crazy frisbee's. It's also a pretty course, nicely shaded with a disc eating creek coming into play.

Though slightly technical, the holes are short so a beginner - when not bouncing off trees - can reach the basket after a few decent shots.

Not really a big-arm course, lots of short uphill/short down hill throws. Now, hole 3,4 & 10 let you rear back and crank it hard, two uphill/one downhill.

Cons:

Only one really, and that the very silly first hole. I mean, c'mon, I can throw my mini almost to the basket! I say back it up across the road and make it a real throw! We all like ace runs, but this is crazy.

Disc Golf Welcome in Walhalla! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 19, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Clean park setting. The course is set off away from the main park so disc golfers is all you see. Easily navigated even without a map. Never once did I feel Like I didnt know where to go next. All shots are included: Long & short, tightly wooded & wide open. Open to wooded shots & visa-versa. Elevation changes from hole to hole. Tee pads are large size with packed sand base. The edges are low so you can run up on them. The tee signs are unique wood design. All info is listed including hole number, Par, Length & a basic picture of the disc flight path. On the open grass holes the lawn is cut to two different lengths like a (ball) golf course with 'fairways' & 'rough' at the edges. Just enough benches to make the round enjoyable. There is a creek that comes into play on some holes. They have a practice basket in the large flat (open) field near the parking lot. New Innova DisCatchers. Lots of birdy/ace holes.

Cons:

No course Map. Leaf cover in winter makes losing a disc easy. Loose gravel on some tee pads made run up slippery. Some pads are concrete. I wish they all were!

Other Thoughts:

#1 starts you off with an Aceable shot & it keeps getting better as you go! I was suprised at the lack of people. I saw maybe 2 people the whole time I was out there. I would've loved to throw a round with some locals. Favorite hole? #3 & #8. The course is right outside of downtown Walhalla so food, drink & lodging was readily available.

Nice break 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 23, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a great beginners course and i really like playing it. I thought the holes were a good combination of open and tight, long and short. This course really helped my confidence and improved my game by allowing me to make some birdies. I also thought the scenary was AWESOME anytime I play on a course surrounded by mountains i find myself just looking around.

Cons:

I did not like the gravel tee pads!! I busted my tail on hole #2 and threw my disc in the woods. I got up and i asked my wife where my disc went and she didn't know cause she was watching me fall. I also love and hate the hole with the creek directly to the left, at the time every backhand shot i was throwing was turning left like a nascar driver and i ended up in the creek. I took my shoes off and got my disc and another disc that i returned to a fellow player.

Other Thoughts:

I enjoyed the simplicity and ease of this course. I had been playing other courses that were very nice but a little over my skill level. This course was just what i needed at the time.

Pros:

Very fun duce-able course. I have played it several time and have always enjoyed it. City of Walhalla has done a great job w/ benches, paths, and mowing. Couple long holes. River hazards on 3 or so holes. Nice wooded course w/ bonus open holes.

Cons:

Tee pads. They are crushed gravel. The idea was it would harden and b/c like concrete. Unfortunately this has not yet occurred. Divots for in the tee pad where people plant their foot and pivot on their drives. These divots can be distracting at their best and dangerous at their worst.

Fun course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 30, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

This was the first time I have ever been here and I must say it was a very fun course.A good challenge for those who are still in the beginner phase and those who are better and as has been mentioned a great place to introduce someone to the world of disc golf. A couple of holes scream for an ace to be made and at the same time there are a few you can practice "ripping" your favorite disc.Challenging hills to throw up to the basket as well as some to throw down.Lots of fun to play and if I lived closer I would play fairly often.

Cons:

If I were really picky I would say that a few of the holes are pretty close to a large creek, which by the way has a nice shade of rust orange to it (yecch)
Really needs more garbage cans around.

Other Thoughts:

All in all a very well kept course. Fairways were mowed nice and wide and even the fairways in the woods were kept up.
nice comfortable wooden benches by a few of the holes.
Seemed to be in a nice area of town. Highly recommended.

Reviewed: Played on:May 31, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a very fun course to play. Some great opportunities to get a hole in one. Grab your long distance drivers and let them fly. There are so great open holes to let them rip. Very Fun!

Cons:

Be careful on 5, 6, and 7. If you go left at all your disc is in the very large creek. The creek bank is very high and the creek is deep and swift. Many discs will be lost.

Other Thoughts:

This is a good, fun course. Some holes could be longer, but all and all worth the drive to play.

Fun little course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 9, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

A great beginner friendly course in that most of the holes are shorter. Winds along a creek on many holes. Fairways are tight but fair. Good mix of elevation changes. Next tee marked very well, easy to navigate.

Cons:

Although it looks great, the creek being so close to many holes could be difficult for many beginners.Pros may find it "too short", although this is a great course to improve your short game.

Other Thoughts:

This is a great course to play if you want to work on your accuracy, there are a few "grip it" holes so that you can work on "drives", but the majority is technical "touch shot" holes. I took my 5 year old son, and he enjoyed it due to the fact that many holes you could see the basket from the teepad.
