Pros:

Well designed course with a good mix of technical and open shots. Even the longer bomber holes require you to navigate some obstacles. Also a good mix of must-get holes (for experienced players), bonus birdies and in-betweeners. I think your average intermediate player will shoot between even and couple under here which I think is an ideal difficulty for a course like this. There are currently temp signs on each hole which help ease navigation. I know new permanent signs are coming soon. Also, with the latest redesign, the course is easy to navigate and a new map either already is posted at the beginning of the course, or will be soon.

Cons:

This course is in a park so if you play during peak park hours, expect some human obstacles - some holes will be unplayable or will require you to move people to play. Some of the tee pads are heavily cracked or way too short - the club is working on getting new permanent pads for the course so I expect this issue to be resolved within a few months. Also, some of the baskets definitely "show their age" although none are unspeakable terrible. Good putts will be caught. In the summer, bugs can be an issue and a few holes, but you should expect that on almost any course in this part of the country - come prepared with bug spray.

Other Thoughts:

I have played this course as much as any in the Memphis/North Mississippi area. The local club and volunteers have made significant improvements to the course over the last year or so which should definitely be noted on dgcoursereview. Since October 2017, the course is no longer just a bunch of par 3's (it has gone through a significant redesign since the pics on this site were taken). It is a par 59 course with a good mix of 3s and 4s. The course is simple enough for ams/beginners to have a good time while still tricky enough for pros to be entertained.

Overall, I enjoy playing this course, as do most of the locals. It serves its function well. It is not really a championship course, but it is good enough for smaller tournaments and casual/league play. Would recommend playing for out-of-towners, but not over Bud Hill or MAM.

Nice course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 17, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice variety of holes, some terrain changes, water hazzards.

Cons:

Some of the locals were not friendly.

Other Thoughts:

My overall experience in Memphis was wonderful. Six month contract job, met some great people and made lots of friends. The day I took a friend who was visiting from the islands, it started raining before we reached the 12th hole so we left. We were having fun. As we were leaving the parking area, a disc flew over our car, a young male flexed his bicep at us, and we caught the stink eye from two groups of young people. It caught me off guard and it hurts but that is life.

Go for the Disc Shop, Stay to Play the Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 18, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Disc shop located nearby in the Boat House that offers nice selection of Innova and Discraft discs.
-Good signage and tee pads
-Decent variety in distance and finesse shots
-Park is very nice and offers things for the whole family
-Baskets get moved around from time to time which adds variety

Cons:

-Lot of holes are wide open which can make it very hot to play during the summer and take some of the difficulty out of the course.
-A few of the holes seem to have unrealistic pars
-Tee shot on first hole has high susceptibility for losing discs in the woods
-Decent distance from interstate in high traffic area, makes getting to the course somewhat difficult.

Other Thoughts:

My main reason for visiting the course is to purchase discs at the boat house. It is one of the only places I have been able to find in a reasonable distance for me to find Discraft discs, and the selection of colors and weights is very good! The course itself is a decent place to try out drivers that you purchase, since the course is mostly open (avoid using a new disc on first hole). Allows you some time to learn the discs.

The course itself isn't anything that special. It is fun to play on occasion, but I don't think I would enjoy playing it on a regular basis.

Overall, the experience is very good. Would recommend visiting the shop to buy discs and then play the course afterward, but wouldn't travel out of the way just to play the course.

Pros:

Nice course. Pretty scenery. Let's you pull out the big gun, ON EVERY THROW.

Cons:

LONG.
VERY LONG.
VERY VERY LONG.
One of the baskets was halfway hanging together when I played it because some tractor had ran into it. I think it was hole 14 or something like that.
