Pros:

-Concrete Tee Pads
-Decent Signage (with a couple of exceptions)
-Decent Baskets
-Good Mix of open/wooded and up/down

Cons:

-Last 3 holes seem tacked on for extra length
-#10 took a minute to find (tee is up the hill)
-Pars on 16, 18 are unrealistic (443/495 Par 3?)
-Distance on signs for #4 and #6 way off
-Down/Up/Down on #11, 12, 13 very steep (could be slick in wet conditions)
-Long walk up the hill after 18 to parking area
-Few trashcans / no benches

Other Thoughts:

Sheldon Park DGC is located in its namesake park just west of Humboldt, IA. The course begins just north of the southern campground area (which does not come into play). The first 15 holes are all relatively short (under 310', most under 200') and then the last 3 are all over 350' (with #16 at 443' and #18 at 495'). The elevation is used fairly well, but the down/up/down of 11-13 is pretty steep and I can see issues in wet weather. There is also steep down on #2 and up on #9. I can see the lower parts getting flooded in high flood times, but the water does not come into play on a normal basis. Was enjoying a nice 3 under round until those last 3 holes. Ending on #18 was also a long walk back up the hill to the parking area. A slight reconfigure on 16-18 (or more appropriate pars), fixing the length on the #4 and #6 tee signs, maybe some added steps on the steep parts and some benches / trashcans would all add to the rating here. Still, I did enjoy my round, for the most part, and would play again, if in the area.
