Shu Pond Sweetness 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 10, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

All around awesome course. Wish i could play more often, course has so much variety for only being 9 holes. Actually its transitioning into a 12 hole course...

Cons:

Like everyone says tee pads are a little lacking(come on its a private course operated by one man). No tee signs but, that's not really a big draw back in my mind.

Other Thoughts:

Great course, i love the Oconto area when it comes to disc golf.

Nice Little Gem 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 14, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

So, let me start out by saying I have at the pleasure of knowing the owner for 16 plus years now. First, things that comes to mind when I think the of Pond, is SOLITUDE because it's a private course, barely anyone plays here, which is sad because Casey is pretty open to having locals come out and play. All you got to do is give him a jingle and let him know your trying to come out for a round. Another word that comes to mins is AWESOMENESS. This was one of the first courses in the area and immediately became my go to place to disc. The course offers a lot of variety you got your left doglegs, your right doglegs, little bit of water in play, you down hill bomber, some straight shots, and some uphill shots. My favorite holes are: number 4 with the pin sitting on the bank of the pond, this is just a great risk reward shot, the RHBH hyzer route is definitely the line to take as you crash at the basket from out over the water. Hole 9 is a really cool "Top of the Pond" shot, shooting off a 15 foot-ish hill. All in all Shu Pond is a pretty awesome place to toss disc.

Cons:

As of right now the course does not have any set standard for tee pads. Some is level ground, a country road, others are carpet and yet still some are mulch. All work very well but have on set stand would go a long way. Also, there are no tee signs(Casey has told me that this summer he plans to make some with a wood burner), this really isn't to big of con as you are usually tossing a round with the owner and he can give you distances and pointers.

Other Thoughts:

One of the great things about this course is the replay ability, you always want to get a better score than the previous round. I remember playing this course when it had only 6 of the homemade baskets, man this course has really evolved into a challenging yet fun round of disc golf. Glad, to see that the DisCatchers are being installed. I was also informed by Casey that the course will be going to 12 holes this summer. I got to throw the new hole 8, pretty sweet RHBH hyzer shot. I can't wait to see what is in store for the POND!!!!
