Nice little course behind the Conference center.
Has a few decent shots using the trees and little elevation out there.

Tee one is right next to the playground. not sure exactly where to tee off from, but the basket is down near the maintenance building behind the Simmons Center.

Walk between the buildings over to hole 2 that throws down along the building.

Hole 3 tees off next to the homes and driveway. I was not sure if the tee was on the cement or behind the old railroad tie. I played the cement as it looks like someone has marked it. Hole is wide open long with trouble behind the basket.

Hole 4 might be my favorite hole here, the basket is a dogleg right down the hill.

Hole 5 tees off in the wooded area going along the edge of the woods.

Hole 6 does not tee off by the sign, that is the old tee box. I figured the tee was next to the tree just past hole 5 and also throws down along the woods.

Hole 7 is missing it's tee sign and is a blind shot past a row of trees.

Hole 8 is a nice little hyzer skip shot to a leaning basket.

Hole 9 is a longer hole with the playground off to the right. Don't turn it over if kids are playing. Lucky I hit a tree.

In all, this is not a bad course. With several holes over 300ft, it is not the best course for beginners,

I did not have a guide, but I was told the locals play it backwards to make the course 18 holes.

-has an okay variety of shots for a 9 hole with limited land resources
-baskets are in good condition
-signs on most tees, with distance
-good mix of left v. right shots
-nice, clean park; well-maintained, mowed; playground for the kiddos

-the natural tees are in reasonable condition but on several of them it is hard to discern where they are exactly. the worn area can be large and given some of the early trouble off the tee on several holes, a few feet either way can significantly affect your tee shot. this course needs concrete not because the grass/dirt is not level but in order to clarify the tee area.

-the sign for hole 7 is missing and thus very tough to locate exactly, for the reasons described above

-while the distances vary from 250' to 400', there are limited resources for obstacles and interesting holes. hole 4 has a good dogleg right and hole 8 probably favors a skip hyzer but otherwise you can pretty much do what you want off the tee.

Simmons Center is really not that bad considering it is a 9 hole course in the middle of nowhere. There happens to be 2 much better but seasonally available courses nearby at Duncan Lake so this one probably gets ragged on in comparison. I found it to be a reasonably fun round with just a few minor issues.

The layout is pretty easy to follow. You can see most tees from the last basket and in the case of holes 1 and 2, the largest gap between holes, a sign points the way to the next tee. The only exception is hole 7 which has a blind basket and is missing its sign, requiring a bit of guesswork for the traveling player.

There are several longish open shots, some of them with early trouble to navigate off the tee. Hole 4 is a nice dogleg right with a bit of elevation with which to contend. It would be easy for local players to play various safari layouts to keep it fresh. Upon my visit, the grass was mowed but a few areas of the course were soggy after a recent rain.

Simmons Center is certainly nothing to write home about but it is a decent course worth playing if you are in the neighborhood. Makes a great option for locals when the Duncan Lake courses are overgrown.

All in all a good 9-hole park to play a quick round or practice your accuracy.
You'll need a good accurate shot off the tee to score well.
Great warmup before going to play the killer out by the lake.
If you stop by not expecting greatness you won't be dissappointed.
This course would be a 3.5 on its own merit if it had concrete tees and benches/trash cans.
The fun factor is pretty good. This is just a good 9-hole course.
