Swallowed By Mother Nature

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 3, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Soda Springs has a lot going for it; multiple tee pads, defined fairways, trees and shrubs as good obstacles, and even some elevation in the back 9. It starts out with a few RHBH friendly holes and then moves into some wide open holes, one of them short and the other long. A few more RHBH friendly holes and the back 9 gets real and serious. Some tunnel shots but mainly more RHBH friendly stuff.

Cons:

Navigation:

I thought in this day and age navigation tools were antiquated and finding your way around a course with Udisc is super easy, then I played Soda Springs. Some of the longest and strangest walk outs I've ever seen on course. After a basket you'll next a next tee sign but that doesn't help much when the next tee pad is 1/2 mile away and over a rock face. Even with the app I had a hard time locating the tee pad for hole 10. Never found the basket for hole 10 so I moved, hole 6 tee pad is under water at the moment.

Rugged and disc eating:

Yeah the amount of rough everywhere is insane. Some shrubs and bushes are 4-6 feet tall and they grow everywhere out here. You need a spotter on every hole that isn't the wide open ones behind the baseball field. The footing past hole 9 is ankle braking territory and make for a slow moving round.

Other Thoughts:

I really don't get the rating at this course, I found it not so fun to play at after 5, well actually 4 and 5 are open and boring so perhaps after hole 3. I did see a few bucks right before sunset that were nice enough to let me take their picture so there's that. Since it is the only course in town I'm glad it's here for the locals and if you're in town for something sure go on over and check it out.
