Pros:
Concrete tees have been added since all the other reviews were written. A few holes still tee off from the walking path, but most have concrete tees now (a couple seem kind of short, though). Good tee signs at each hole, and the baskets are Chainstars which are still in good shape.
Many holes here have tight, technical lines through the trunks of the large, mature trees. Holes range from sub 200 to 500 feet in length. There is also a good variety of left, straight, and right finishes. A couple holes are more open and allow a bomb while several are low-ceiling the whole way.
Cons:
The walking path that circles the perimeter of the park may cause momentary delays if you have to wait for a walker/jogger to get out of the way.
We usually come to Branson around Veteran's day, and massive amounts of leaves are on the ground then which can hide discs well.
The course is board flat and right next to Lake Taneycomo (doesn't come into play), and it holds water easily if the lake level rises. It was almost completely flooded when we came in 2019.
Other Thoughts:
The course is pretty beginner friendly, but I think it is most geared towards intermediate players. As an intermediate, Sunset is my favorite free course in the Branson area.
It is technically an 18 hole course, but there are only 9 baskets (which you play to twice). The first 7 baskets have distinctly different tees that definitely change how the hole plays. The last 2 baskets only have one tee each, so you have to play those twice.
