One & Dunn: A Drive-by Tale

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 26, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

+ Chainstar baskets catch well

+ Tee signs are above average, informative, navigation is a cinch

+ Park is maintained well, low disc-loss potential

+ Two tees on some holes, decent variety in distances

+ Not challenge-less

+ Close to 95, good for the quick bag

Cons:

- Layout runs around, close, or through other park features, upping the risk factor/playability a bit

- Much of the course's challenge comes from its proximity to the aforementioned other park features

Other Thoughts:

Tart Park was a quick drive-by that gave me my NC badge. The course is still super new, and Kenan's review from last year is spot on. I played on a Tuesday, mid-morning. There may have been 3 or 4 other people in the park, including the grounds guy out mowing, well, the grounds - the weather was perfect - clear, not too hot yet, no wind - so pretty ideal conditions. From the parking lot you can tell immediately that this is a classic layout, read: your typical niner-in-a-community-park course: we've got 9 holes that aren't crazy challenging and work their way around/thru all the other park features, meaning potential play interruptions abound.

It's always great to have disc golf included at the park, but it's also always a bit disappointing when you've got the course feeling more like a late addition to things, and a bit crammed into the rest of the park.

I've played far worse, and if I lived in the area I'd be stoked to have it nearby. In fact, it really reminds me of my local niner a lot, but with a bit more potential for other parkgoers to interfere with play. Definitely worth the bag if you're passing through.
