You must play this course! This course is one of the best-kept, maintained courses I have ever played. The course is located at a beautiful park that is situated around a small lake. The course is on the opposite side of the lake from the entrance of the park. Each hole is between 200-300 feet for the most part and has scattered trees, but no thick woods. The start of the course has a bulletin board with announcements and a course map. Each hole has concrete tee pads. Each hole also has a sign that shows the hole layout, including the different pin locations. Then, there is a marker showing which pin location is in use...this is a great idea that many courses fail to include. Then, there are signs that point you in the direction of the next tee pad, differentiating where applicable between pro and am. Also at each hole, there are bag holders and benches. Several holes also offer shoe brushes and brushes to sweep off the tee pad.

There are really no cons. If you want to get technical, most of the shots are similar...between 200-300 feet and usually straight in front of the tee or slightly to the left or right. But this isn't really bad. Just FYI.

Again, you must play this course. It is absolutely beautiful and makes for a very enjoyable round. The course has scattered trees and shrubs throughout the holes, but the fairways are pretty wide and reward technical shots, but don't make it impossible if you hit a tree. All-in-all, my favorite course in Florida!

Taylor Park is an interesting little course. It is very new so all equipment is in good condition. Navigation is pretty straightforward as most of the course is situated alongside a small lake. The lake is present but rarely comes into play, and when it does, it was not overbearing. There are no "forced-carries" over water here. The location of the course is very tranquil.

Taylor Park had some of the coolest signs I have ever seen. Distances seemed to be pretty accurate. The pictures are obviously not to scale, but I thought they accurately depicted each hole. Benches and bag hangers are available throughout. Whoever installed this course and those who funded it did not skimp on the amenities.

The hole distance was a little redundant. While there are a couple of longer holes, most of the holes are in the upper 200s - lower 300s. Additionally, the course is fairly open, so if you prefer to throw a gentle hyzer like me, you can do it over and over again. The course was not really challenging.

There are a number of other park users. First, there are a lot of walkers and families that utilize the trails of the park. Watch out for errant children. Secondly, there was a school cross-country team practicing in the park. I thought they might stick to the trails, but they simply all ran right through the course...and began stretching on the fairway of the hole closest to the main road from which you enter the park. I tried waiting, and most of them looked at me like I was strange. Sorry, but you are on a disc golf course. And Cross Country must be much bigger in Florida than in Tennessee because there were no less than 78 kids.

The water seemed to be used as an afterthought. The course did not incorporate it very well at all. If you had a terrible throw, then perhaps you could lose a disc. However, the fact that a lake is beside you does nothing to make you worry about your shot. I wish this attribute had been used better in the design.

I was definitely disappointed with Taylor Park. It had some pretty solid ratings, but simply didn't live up to its current rating. In my opinion, this is a typical course and nothing more. I am bumping up my rating slightly because of the bag holders, signage and benches, but I simply cannot go farther than a 3.0. When I was there the grass was getting high. All in all, it just wasn't a challenging or enjoyable round. I am definitely glad that I played it, since I was in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

This is a new course that is worth playing if you are in Tampa/St. Petersburg and have already played Cliff Stephens and Tocobaga. If you are fairly new to the game, then I would actually suggest you play this course instead of those 2, but for the seasoned disc golfer (which I consider myself "average") there is no real challenge at Taylor Park. It has the potential to become a really nice facility with ample amenities already in place, but the course is just average.

Very well maintained park along with great signs. There's a variety of shots so its not dominantly a righty or lefty course.

Occasionally foot traffic along the path slows down the game.

If you're in the Tampa/St. Pete/ Clearwater area you should definitely go play Taylor.

this course is amazing for intermediate and up players. the club at this park is so involved and puts so much money into trying to make this the best park around. great signage. no way to get lost or confused. always well groomed.

the water holes are fairly challenging especially since the water is on your left and im a right handed backhander. can get the better of any righty that cant consistently get some turn. when it rains, this park is underwater.

i recommend any avid d-golfer to hit this course when in the area. i drive like a half hour to get there roughly once a month. it is worth a trip.

Really only 1 or 2 holes with a good chance at landing in water, but bringing a floater always a good idea.

The folks that run the local doubles are the ones to thank for making the course nice.They used their own funds for tee signs and other improvements.

One hole crosses walk path for park patrons...sometimes have to wait on the traffic.

Taylor Park DGC is in a beautiful, grassy park with many mature trees surrounding a small lake. The quality of the course is very good, as is the equipment on the course. The tee boxes are concrete, all with nice benches and bag holders. The tee signs are unbelievable! Highly detailed and with cool graphics, they have hole maps with moveable pins to show which position the basket is currently in. Also, there are signs between holes to guide you through the course. The baskets are all in good shape, too.

As for the disc golfing, this is an outstanding course. Laid out very nicely, the fairways give a good variety of lines to the basket. The fairways have few sharp turns, but the trees seldom allow a straight line to the pin. There are very slight changes of elevation on some holes, and water comes into play on a few of them. Challenging, and fun to play.

Really there is not a lot of room for improvement here. Utilizes the space very well, but there was a very similar feel to many of the holes despite slight differences. I was rushing to finish 18 holes before the sun set, so maybe I missed some of the finer points on the course. There are signs posted warning about the presence of gators, but I didn't see any (which suits me fine).

Taylor Park offers a terrific disc golf experience. This is a fun and challenging course that is very nicely furnished. No doubt about it, you need to play this course if you get a chance. One of the best courses I have played in Florida. The local league was in session while I was on premises, and they were all helpful and friendly.

The most beautiful course I've ever played. Playing right against the lake is awesome. Played there with a local and was very helpful with my horrid play. I also met him at Coachman. All the courses I played coming from Mississippi back to Fort Myers, this was the best looking course.

The walking trail, this park is popular and you have to throw across the walking trail. Never had to wait for someone to get by, since I played on a weekday. I could see the walkers being a problem during season.

Palmettos on the course, I didn't lose any discs but I could see where it would happen.

Most beautiful course in the surrounding 5 states. I had a good time.

the pin placements are incredible, three possibilities for basket locations. the perfect amount of shade and sun for those blistering FL days. did i mention the signs??? the huge effing alligator. the cleanliness of the park. the variety in shots. the varying degree of difficulty in each hole. each one is independent of the last. almost like being at an amusement park with each hole being a different ride. the lack of silk worms. the trash cans. the digital sounding blackbird on 13.

this spot forces you into a different shot on each throw. super cool layout with the trees and bushes beg you to enjoy a super ambidextrous afternoon. really loved it here both times i played there. if you only have time to play one course in the area, then play here. if you have time to play a few times in the area, then play here at least twice.

I wasn't going to review this course since so many have but!!! If you haven't been to Taylor lately and you have in the past, you should see it now! The club there has had this course shaped up even better. There were a lot of shrubs and stuff removed to open up the park even more. The even included another practice basket because so many players show up. Great job guys!

Agreed with everyone else. Pedestrians! I had a guy randomly pick up my disc and called my number from my disc in my face. Really? Your walking around here and you can't tell what whole bunch of golfers are doing?...

This place has always been my favorite to play and probably always will. Too bad I have to drive so far to get to it.

Every hole has two or three pin positions for a total of 42 overall and they're moved around frequently.

Tee pads are reasonably long and wide

Beautiful tee signs provide a visual of the hole as well as laser-measured distances for every pin position and a marker to show which position the basket is currently in.

Every hole has a whisk broom, bag hanger, and bench on it.

Hole design is generally very strong forcing players to use a wide variety of shots to put up a good score. Nearly all the new pin positions add to the course's quality instead of just being different for difference's sake.

Difficulty is moderate but fair. The trees will get you if you throw off target or too high but good throws will almost always be rewarded.

The baskets are quality ones and in good condition.

The course overall is kept in very good condition by the local club which runs weekly doubles and a handicap there.

There are only amateur pads on six of the holes.

Hole 1's long position has virtually no fairway any longer due to tree growth since its creation and would be greatly improved by being moved. The new short positions on 7 and 16 lack imagination, being simple straight ahead shots when the terrain would have allowed for more interesting placements.

Taylor Park is my home course but when I first started playing disc golf two years ago it was merely a good course. The changes the local club (which didn't even exist at the beginning of my playing days) over that time period are phenomenal and have made this into what I consider to be the best course in the area now.

Taylor Park is not a predominant right or left handed course and is laid out very nice. It has a good variety of open, tight, long, and short holes; it also has some hazards that will get your heart going and make you think. The tee signs, benches, and bag poles make it an even more enjoyable course. The local club takes very good care of the course by keeping the course groomed and staying on top of any needed and preventive maintenance. The course's multiple pin placements not only change distance but change the way the whole is played altogether.
There are a couple alligators that hang out (basking in the sun) next to a few holes/tee pads. They're far enough away so as not to scare you, but close enough to check them out (from a distance).

The park is very picturesque, drawing snowbirds and locals alike, which slows play

Taylor is a well designed park and excellently maintained. I have been playing the Tampa/St.Pete area courses for a year now, and I can honestly say that no other course in the area is as well maintained. The Taylor Park Disc Golf Club has done more for their course than any course I have seen in Ohio or in Florida. Over the course of the last year, they have added additional pin locations, additional tees, brand new beautiful full color signs (with aerial views, distances, and pin placement markers as well as photos of local club members), bag racks, benches, trash cans, brooms, out of bounds markers....You name it, they've done it. They have immense pride in their course and have invested themselves emotionally and fiscally. The course is technical, with a lot of trees and some palmettos. There are a few holes that are a bit short, but they make up for it by being well designed to make them challenging. Water can come into play on 9-15. Leaugues are immensely popular there. I have played in every league in a 30 mile radius, and Taylor Park's is by far the most successful. They routinely draw between 40 and 60 players for Sunday morning handicaps (9:00), and 20-30 players for Tuesday night blind draw doubles (6:00).

There can be some foot traffic as Taylor is a very pretty park and it draws walkers, but for the most part, they are pretty considerate.

If you haven't played Taylor, or haven't played it in the last few months, it's time you went. You will be impressed. I guarantee it.

This is a top notch course and I reluctantly gave it a 4.5 because of 1 thing.

Taylor Lake park is located in arguably the DG capital of FL and stands supreme over some of the more known courses in the area. A beautiful setting and committed local scene are why.

PEDESTRIANS
People love this park and I don't blame them but they fill the walking trails and don't seem to pay attention.

I am struggling to bring another complaint.

If there is a course that I could have in my backyard it would be this one. Beyond all the good people and great layout it just feels right here. I don't like to write long reviews but I could go on for thousands of words if put to the task.
*Funny note: check the sign leading to the course along the road. Reads "DISK GOLF".

Finally, F*** YEAH TAYLOR LAKE PARK

Taylor Lake Park has a scenic location and a well planned layout that is just challenging enough to be fun. The main natural hazard is a large lake with gators, but a paved walkway also crosses the course fairways in several spots. The tee signs are excellent, the benches and restrooms are nice, and the directional signs are well-placed for newcomers. The course is located on the west side of the lake, by the last parking lot.

Part of the course is in low lying areas which may be flooded by rain.

Another reason for disc golfer envy across the bay. Well done!!

1. Jogging/walking path plays into some holes and can be busy at times. Sometimes a wait, but not enough to be discouraging.

Great course. There are 2, even 3, different pin placements on every hole for variety and challenge.

The local club takes great care of the course. There are handicaps on Sundays - 10AM, and blind draw doubles on Tuesday nights - 6PM. They are an open and friendly group. Experience ranges from World Champion to newbies. They break out players by divisions, so it is always competitive, but friendly.

Coachman, Maximo, and Cliff Stevens are close by, and get a majority of the hype, and they are good courses, but Taylor is a great, underrated course that will challenge you and have you coming back to play again and again.

This course is a must play! A very beautiful park that is well maintained and surrounds a lake. The course is designed for all levels of players with several alternate baskets that keeps it mixed up. Brand new tee signs are top class and will keep you well guided through all 18 holes. About 4 holes hug the side of the lake so keep them dry & watch out for the gators! Otherwise your looking at mild tree coverage & creative pin placements!

The players club at Taylor Park has proven that they care abou the park and making improvevments to the course. They have all new signs that are some of the best I have seen. There are more improvements being made as well. There are several more tee locations and a few tucked in within 10 feet of the water. The course can prove to be challenging at times depending on tee locations.

Could use another restroom on the front nine by 20th street (atleast for us women).

As the game expands and the economy improves maybe we can get a Pro-shop at the park

Challenging without getting ridiculous. There are a few holes that really challenge you to take the right line or else face a tough par. This is mostly due to trees in the fairway and thick undergrowth in difficult places that tend to block alleys to the pin. This is particularly true on hole 1.

The rest of the holes are open enough to have multiple lines to the pin. Yet there are just enough trees to knock you don't if you aren't careful.

The water is a challenge on several holes (8, 11, 13, & 15).

Some elevation, unusual for this area of the country.

Decent tee pads, baskets are in very good condition.

C.R. Willey does a great job keeping this course well maintained.

Plenty of people to catch around with and very friendly. Also doubles play during the week.

Good mix of long and short as well as alternate pin placement that mix things up a bit.

Good facilities including bathrooms, pavilions, and play areas.

Gators in that lake are HUGE! Don't get in there. So this makes disc retrieval a nightmare.

Water is always on the left. There is no way to fix this but is somewhat of a con in my book.

Walking path with lots and lots of walkers can be aggravating. Just when the path opens up for you to take a shot someone goes by walking the other way and you have to wait another 5 minutes. This can take some time if you are unlucky.

You have to drive all the way around the park at a snails pace before you get to disc golf parking. But, see below

This is a well designed course that will challenge you. You would think there are enough easy holes on this course to walk away significantly under par but this course always finds a way to try to get my closer to and back over par if I am not careful.

You can park on a back street by driving past the park on 8th AVE SW, going past the lake and making a left on the other side of the park (onto 18th or 20th St SW and parking on the grassy side of the road to the left right by the course parking lot.

Nice treat after playing in the North during this time of year.

When we played, there was a LOT of over growth. We lost 2 frisbee that day, but still had fun.

Another course that was fun to play, and nice that we didn't have to shovel or plow through feet of snow, and it was free. It doesn't get much better then that.
