-BEST CITY COURSE IN AUGUSTA for those who are planning a visit or traveling through.
-the new holes and transitions are amazing and cut down on unnecessary walks up and down big hills.
-All the dead trees have been removed recently
-Groomed airways, branches or overgrowth has been eliminated
-Holes have been removed that are in popular multi-use areas of the park. New holes more than make up for it.


-Course has been improved, phase 1 of the rehab project completed 10/8/2014

-Lots of OB and opportunities for lost discs in the lake
-Very hilly may require some strenuous walking in places.
-Walking path down the middle of the course and fisherman in some areas(please be careful when throwing near pedestrians).
-In a seedy neighborhood although no one has had problems with car break ins or anything.

Augusta Disc Golf Association and the City of Augusta Parks and Rec do a great job with this course!

Challenging layout. Good distance. Fair lines through big trees. Water is not only in play on some holes but gets in your head and intimidates you at times. I loved the elevation changes.

Not much to criticize here. A couple of things bugged me but weren't huge issues:
*16 crosses the fairway for 3. You'd have to be an idiot to hit someone or get hit, but it's an issue.
*When the park is crowded the holes around the parking areas could be unplayable.
*It looked like they ran out of ideas and room for where to put the 18th hole. There's almost nowhere to throw to avoid trees, the building, railings, etc. I'm OK with this, but after the rest of the course, which really reflected thoughtful design ideas, it sort of stuck out. Plus, as it's the lat hole, it sticks with you a little.
*Some of the benches were broken
*No trash cans on the course.

I'm looking forward to playing this one again.

Lake Olmstead DGC is a nice long course that covers grassy hills with mature trees, set on one side of a small lake. Course amenities include full size, concrete tee pads with hole maps and distances posted at each one. All baskets are in good condition.

I give the high rating here due to the difficulty I have scoring well here. The golf course features a variety of holes, many with length. Some are near water with thick rough surrounding the banks of the lake. There are a couple of nice elevation changing drives, and the danger of bad rolls along with them. The walking path passing through the course defines boundaries that I can seldom avoid going out of for an entire round. Hole 3 is one of my favorites, a drastically elevated tee dropping to a basket 360 feet away in a stand of mature trees. My drive skipped and ricochetted off the bucket yesterday. I also like hole 15 a lot. It is 360 feet with a long route going left, or the direct route to the right if you can carry 300 feet over the water. Great skill is required to shoot well below par here, but it is possible. My personal best is 52 here, but I've seen others shoot in the 40's before.

There is some pedestrian and bicycle traffic using the walking trail next to several holes. Other times you may have to wait on fishermen or those at benches or tables to move out of the way. As I mentioned, there is water and heavy rough that increase the odds of losing a disc. The layout of the course zig zags quite a bit, so a map or a guide could help if you're a first timer.

Lake Olmstead is a great course in my opinion. I don't play it as often as the other courses nearby, due to the lack of shade, length and difficulty, wind, and hazards of losing discs. However I do give it much respect, and enjoy playing there. Will advise checking it out if you're a serious disc golfer and spending some time in Augusta.

Not too long, fairly technical, with lots of risk/reward options.

Most of the course is on a long, thin strip of land between the lake itself and a lightly-traveled road, sloping down to the lake, with a paved walking trail running between them. So there's lots of OB, both paved and water. Some of the greens are prone to rollaways unless you're careful on your approaches.

Some of the fairways or baskets are very close to the lake. The routing does a figure-8, so that the lake is on your left at times, on your right at others, balancing the risk for righties & lefties.

Hole 17 is a trip, with the lake on your right and a steep hill climbing up on the left, and a LONG narrow fairway to drive.

Elsewhere there is an excellent variety of open, very tight, low-ceiling, roller-friendly, and otherwise creative fairways.

It's also a lovely place to play.

Between the walking trail threading through most of the course, dividing fairways in many places, and fisherman and other civilians lingering on the shore, avoiding non-disc-golfers can be a concern.

The proximity of the lake on several holes, and the wind, make it very easy to lose discs here.

Augusta has many fine courses. This is another, and a different feel compared to the heavily wooded holes as the IDGC & Riverview.

This is one very lovely course with Lake Olmstead always in view and usually trying to drown your discs. The park is well maintained, grassy with towering trees for shade. It's kind of a long skinny course layout with 9 holes down and then 9 coming back. The designers are to commended for their design. A major challenge is there with a steep hillside, the many trees and the ever-present lake. The course has nice concrete teepads and great baskets. The tee signs are informative.

They could do something to help with the navigation of this course. Maybe paint one spoke of each basket pointing to the next teepad or hanging a simple little metal "Next tee" with an arrow sign from one of the spokes. I wasted a fair amount of time trying to find the next tees. The park is well used and there is the walking path which is often in play so players must live in peace with the other park users.

At the far end of the course, you are right across the street from the Augusta Greenjackets ballpark, a class A minor league baseball team in the South Atlantic League. Walk over and take in a ballgame after your round. How American is that? Baseball and disc golf! Maybe you could buy a beer and a hot dog to enjoy on the back nine? Or some peanuts! I guess you could retrieve a foul ball before it rolls into the lake.

Technical Course, lots of water with tight fairways between trees. Monster drives are a must. Wind can be a huge factor.

Bring a good selection of discs to throw, wide array of different throwing styles is good.
