Great for teaching kids how to play - but not for much else. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 19, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The course is laid out on a wide swath of land perfect for breaking in new disc or practicing putting and approach shots. Tiffany Park is set up well for families, with playground equipment, tennis courts, and a basketball pavilion. Another plus is you won't have to worry about other disc golfers getting in the way of your practice, since no one who lives more than a few miles from here will probably want to play it more than once. Bottom line, I would come here with my wife and small kids for fun, but never for a serious round.

BEST HOLE/S: #2

Cons:

It's always sad to start your main pros with "good for practice" and "has a nice playground." Unfortunately, I can't find much else too redeeming about this place. The layout is poor and boring. The lines run too close to park equipment, or in the case of #4 - over the tennis courts for most players looking to bird. You have a real chance of hitting someone if this place is every busy.

There are only six holes that intertwine with a walking path in the first half, the baskets are single chain, and the signage (at least this is some on holes 1-5) is average. Hole #1 currently has no tee marker, so I just made up my own. Finally, you may have difficulties getting in a round during school hours because of the proximity to the school.

WORST HOLE/S: #4

Other Thoughts:

I don't know why this is considered a park - it seems like more of a playground extension than anything. It's appropriate since it's Tiffany Park's best quality - giving families, kids, & elementary students access to learn to play disc golf. Much like Cedar Brook Elementary School in Houston, it's rudimentary & potently dangerous layout is is not suited to anyone who is halfway decent at the sport. Play it for practice then move on to better courses in the area.

Having finally played all of the current courses the Bryan/College Station area has to offer, I have made two separate lists for you to consider when making your next visit to Aggieland. I have ranked them first by overall course quality and then my personal enjoyment rating which varies a bit from the first list. Please note however, I enjoyed all of these courses, and none of them stood out as the clear favorite.

Course Rating and Quality:
1. Research Park 3.5 discs;
2. Southern Oaks Park 3;
3. Wolf Pen Creek 3;
4. Austin's Colony 2.5;
5. Oaks Park 2;
6. Bonham Park 1.5;
7. First Baptist Bryan DGC 1;
8. Tiffany Park 1.

Personal Enjoyment: (1 is best & 5 is worst)
1. Southern Oaks Park
2. Wolf Pen Creek;
3. Research Park;
4. Oaks Park;
5. Bonham Park;
6. Austin's Colony
7. First Baptist Bryan DGC
8. Tiffany Park
