Pros:

Timber Dome DGC is a short niner just north of Iowa City that plays through a mix of open prairie area with a couple more wooded holes. The lengths here are all on the shorter side and the course plays pretty quick, if you stay out of the rough that is.

The baskets are Mach III's that do a serviceable job. These have the number plates on the top. They get the job done here for sure. One basket and pin placement per hole.

The tee signs are pretty nice. Big metal signs mounted on 4x4's. These have an extra generic hole map, Hole #, par and distance. More than enough info for a course of this caliber. All the baskets are visible from the tee anyway.

The course design is pretty solid for what's there to work with. It's a mix of prairie style holes, which I hate, but these are well done. Mowed and kept up very well. And the "fairway" is plenty wide to actually land on. The wooded holes aren't too tight either. This is just a well rounded design that leans toward the easier end of the spectrum. But that's what this course should be geared toward. Starts and ends near where you park too, no long walks between holes, just a great short beginner course.

The park itself is nice, clean and easily accessable. Free to play, permanent, probably never busy.

Cons:

The tees aren't ideal, natural, a little rutted out. They leave a bit to be desired. Not the worst things I've ever seen but not the best either.

The prairie grass rough is annoying. It is anywhere, and this is one of the better courses as far as that goes. But it's still unpleasant.

The walking path can come into play on a few holes. It usually requires a poor drive or bad tree kick, but that doesn't diminish the fact it's in play. Judging by my one play here it's a pretty well used path too.

Lengthy walk from hole one's basket to hole 2. Nothing crazy but worth noting. The walk from 5 to 6 is even longer. Again, pretty obvious to most, but not a given.

Other Thoughts:

Fun course. Not a must play by any means, but shouldn't be overlooked. I hate prairie courses about equally to ski hill courses. The only thing I dislike more is disc golf on ball golf courses. That's the worst.

The prairie here is managable, even enjoyable actually. It's just a good, well designed course for the space available. Should you play It? Yeah, you should.

Pros:

Pros from experienced player perspective:
Easy to get to, plenty of parking, nice signs, baskets are in good condition, just 9 holes (pro if you are limited on time), generally manicured paths/fairways.

Pros for the new player:
No long holes, no blind shots, legit 2 disc course (putter, midrange).

Cons:

Cons from experienced player perspective:
I'm not a great player, so anytime I shoot under par the first time I play somewhere, that's saying something (not about me, about the course) - simple, easy, straightforward. Not very challenging.
Grass tees, footing might be tricky if wet.
Not a destination course by any stretch of the imagination.

Cons for the new player
Some of the fairways are only 6-8' wide (newbies will spend a lot of time thrashing around in the knee/waist-high grass/weeds).
Holes are close enough to a walking/running trail that I could see newbies clocking someone with a really stray throw.

Other Thoughts:

It is exactly what it is meant to be - a short beginner's course, built into the periphery of the town's sports complex. It's not meant to compete with larger/longer courses and the town has obviously stayed on top of the maintenance and upkeep.
