This was the first course I have played in the upstate area. I agree with earlier reviews. This is a great course for beginner to intermediate (and anyone that needs to work on their short game.

Each hole presents variable looks with challenging elevation change. You not only need to navigate trees, but you also need to be on the correct side of each goal to avoid death putts.

There is a creek that meanders through most of the course that was clear when we played and not particularly deep in any area. It is not really a risk for lost discs.

The one thing I missed most when I played this course was room to drive for significant distance. There were really only 2-3 holes over 330 ft, but I did enjoy the 18th hole at 375.

Due to the lack of length, I could only really give the course a 3, but it is an excellent place to sharpen your short game. Get good here, and you will be trouble on any course.

This course is great for beginners to intermediate players. Most of the holes are very reachable par 3s that will provide a good challenge for players at that level. This course provides a good number of technical shots through the woods and quite a few opportunities for ace runs.

Signage: most of the signs on the course are missing at this point.
General upkeep: at times in the summer, the grass goes too long without being cut.

This course includes mostly shorter shots with a lot of those being in wooded areas. Great course for casual players

Enjoyable 18 hole park-style course containing a nice mix and variety of holes. Many holes are short enough giving you your basic par 3 with some birdie chances and even an a couple ace runs, but no hole is a guarantee with the amount of elevation (up and down) nicely used, plus you have to avoid the small creek in play on many holes. There are a few holes where you do have the chance for longer drives (11, 18 for example).

Much of the course is in your typical park area- mowed grass, several mature trees, and little to no undergrowth anywhere. There are a couple holes on the back that do play through some more heavily wooded areas adding to the overall mix in hole style.

There were good concrete tees for each hole and the baskets, though older, were fine. Navigation was pretty easy the first time using some common sense and the map here on DGCR, despite the lack of tee signs and next tee signs (* see Cons below).

The creek is definitely in play on several holes, but is only a factor for adding strokes and not a disc losing hazard as the water was low and clear and relatively easy to retrieve discs. (Water did not look nasty or polluted as mentioned in some earlier reviews, so maybe an improvement or just lucky timing?)

Biggest negative is that many of the tee signs were missing, so most of the time no hole number or distance, though some of the tee pads had this info on them (somebody should just write it on all the tee pads.) I am sure there were 18 tee signs at one point in time, but some people just don't let others have nice things.

The only real navigational hurdle was finding #12, which is the only hole across the road- #13 tee is very close to #11 basket, and from the looks of the dirt path, it seems many locals just skip #12 (which I personally thought was a fun hole, despite the short walk up the hill and across the road). The map on DGCR clearly shows where it is, glad I printed it off!

Seemed to be a popular course for the locals, being a bit crowded even on a weekday afternoon. Since there are holes that play down each side of the creek, you have to be alert for players and discs on the other side, and may have to wait for them to finish their hole before you can safely play yours.

I really liked Timmons. Not the hardest course ever, but definitely not dull. With a good variety of holes it was just really fun to play (and was a nice change of pace having just played Langley Pond that morning and IDGC the day before, giving me a mental and physical break before tackling nearby Pipeline, Tyger, and Grand Central.)

This course appeals to a wider range of skill levels and really has something to offer for just about everyone. Recommended for everyone to play here at least once or twice.

Short holes. Simple arrangement. Good use of terrain.

Congested, tight fairways on the front nine. Unforgiving of bad shots. No hole diagrams. No map. Serious flow issues: 1->2, 11->12, 14->15->16->17. Very small tee pads.

This is actually a good course once you know the layout. Someone put some real thought into most of the holes, but that was some time ago.

#12 seems like an afterthought or a later change. Perhaps one of the holes had to be replaced for some reason.

The front nine is very tight and technical, demanding good shot choices and execution. The back nine combines open and tight holes with elevation changes, even offering a few opportunities to use an actual driver (11,13,18).

Well designed course, lots of challenges such as water, trees, visibility. Nicely wooded area. Trails are well-maintained for the most part.

Poor signage. The creek and many of the grassy areas appear polluted with sewage. I don't mind getting a little dirty or wet, but this course needs attention.

The location and the course are good overall. They are currently rebuilding one of the creek bridges. I would play here again in a heartbeat if I wasn't concerned about the pollution.

Timmons is a small municipal park where someone put some thought and effort into making an above average course. While there are no spectacular, "signature" pins, there are also no bad ones. I like the neon green pins with blue baskets and bands; they may look a little tacky, but they were also the easiest baskets to spot that I've run across. The use of the woods, hills, and stream is excellent.

Serious: Signs - There is no map at the beginning of the course. Many of the tees have no sign whatsoever and those that do are minimal, without a map of the fairway or directions to the next tee. Most of the time I was able to track down the next tee with a little searching, but I could not find 12 and eventually went on to play the next pin. It wasn't until I was near the end of the course and saw some locals crossing the street that I realized the tee for 12 was over there.

Minor: There were a couple places where the hills got a little steep as you walked down them and some stairs or a rope between two trees to hold onto would have been helpful, but that may more be a symptom of my age than a real problem; the kids playing the course did not seem to be bothered.

I was in Greenville for a single day and only had time to play this course once. That's a shame, because I think that once you figure this course out, and aren't wandering around trying to find the next tee, it would be even more enjoyable. It's not a course set up for serious competitors, but it's a solid course where you can play a quick, fun round with a decent amount of challenege.

2 loops of 9 holes. There was a crowd, so being able to start on 10, then play the front 9 later, helped us avoid several large groups.

Clear concrete tees with benches and some signage.

Holes 7 and 8 were scenic holes with character. 14 was a super short over the valley shot.

Good amount of elevation and variety of shots. Creek was used well without being gimmicky.

Minimal tee signage with odd flow and no navigational signs.

I never saw a second tee on any hole.

course was cluttered. If you over throw basket 6 you are directly on 3's fairway. many holes played close to other fairways.

Mando arrow was broken for 7, so there was no way to know the intended flight path. 8 had 2 large trees directly infront of the tee pad.

several holes ended at tee pads for holes that were not the next hole you are to play, making it easy to skip holes.
Hole 12 felt like an after thought since hole 11 ends at 13's tee, but you cross the road for 12. 14 ends at 17's tee. The whole course had a confusing flow and lack of tee signs often made it worse.

4 baskets were visable from tee one. which could create confusion, but it also shows how cluttered the course is.

13 played very close to the road creating a clear safety issue. (which did not matter because half the groups were throwing at basket 16 from tee 13)

because of the basket positions on the hills, luck comes into play as much as skill. 2 people in the same group can hit the same line, land in the same spot and one will stick the other will roll 100 feet down the hill.

I was glad I played the back 9 first because I liked ending with holes 7, 8, and 9. 2 scenic holes and a "holy sh!t that is tight" hole. It also led to a long hot birdie streak at the end of the round.
This course compliments Century park very well, but I think Century Park was superior. This course needs better signage with navigational signage to offset the goofy flow, too many holes felt like they were added as after thoughts.

Very nice course. exceptionally scenic in the fall. tons of colors and fall foliage. nice layout, most all holes are approachable for all skill levels. fun for a quick round on the weekend

Even though the leaves are very nice to look at i have fallen at least 4 time slipping up and down the hills. some of the creek banks are step and it hard to retrieve your disc if you get wet which is very likely to happen.

*Elevation is used throughout the course, there are only a small handful of holes that are flat. There are an equal amount of uphill and downhill holes, a few pins are placed hill sides.
*There is a good mix of wooded and open holes. Wooded holes are not overly difficult and have nicely trimmed fairways. Open holes are not completely open, with trees scattered throughout the fairway adding some challenge.
*A stream comes into play on several holes adding some challenge, however, it has been dry with very little water the few times i've been there making discs easy to retrieve.
*Several short holes provide for many ace runs.
*This is a good course for beginners as many holes are shorter.
*Navigation was not a problem except for hole 12.
*Benches and signs at nearly all teestations. A few trashcans can be found throughout the course.
*Disc golf sign near the first tee with disc golf related news and info.
*The park has nice facilities such as a playground, pavilion, ballpark, and mt. bike trail.

*The biggest con for me is that this course lacks the distance factor, there are many short holes, I used a putter or mid to tee off on probably more than half of the holes, and nothing more than a fairway driver on the rest of the holes.
*A few tee signs were missing.
*There is a lot of rough rocks in some of the fairways that could tear up your discs
*teepad for hole 10 is between 2 trees, I felt that I might hit my hand on my follow through which held me back on my drive

Overall, this is a fun course. It is mostly short which gives you a chance for many deuces and ace runs. The elevation adds to the fun factor. The variety of the holes is a bonus since you'll be playing some tighter holes, and a good mix between left and right turning holes. I really did enjoy this course, but wish for some longer holes. I enjoyed hole 4 which requires a long slowly right turning tee shot in which you'll need to avoid the creek on the right. Also, 18 which is a bit longer as well with a creek on the right. And of course 17, which probably has the biggest elevation drop and requires you to hit a narrow gap to put it close to the pin.
I'll be back to play this course when I'm in the area. It is definitley worth the stop if you're in the area, as well as Century park. If you're looking to add to your course count, Holmes is very close nearby as well.

- Timmons is a fun little course. It's longer than the average "short" course, but not long enough to move it up to the next level. I threw a putter off the tee-pad on 11 holes, with the rest requiring a driver. The course is mostly open... however, on every hole there are trees to negotiate, requiring you to shape shots accordingly.
- OB. Although I went into the creek 3 times, twice on Hole 9 for a triple bogey, I couldn't be happier with the OB. The layout utilizes OB possibilities on 11 holes, making an easier course a little more difficult. Note: Even if you're dry... being over the edge of the creek's ditch = OB.
- This course would be a great course to learn on, a great course for families, and a great course to work on your short game.

- None really. But, I can nit-pick.
- I suppose the course could be considered too short. However, courses of this length and style have a place in the DG world.
- Tee-signs don't declare the mandies or the OB's... you just have to know they are there.

- Two other courses in Greenville and another only 8 miles away (Century Park) make this area a great DG destination. It's very easy to hit 4 courses in one day - makes for a fun trip. There is also a decent brewery in Greenville - I liked my beer and food.
- I would definitely travel down from Asheville again to play here and at Century Park. The designer/s of these two courses got it right... Fun to play, easy to navigate, and Fair.
- My rating is lower than the other reviewers. Not because I didn't like the course... but, because I was looking to see where in my list of courses Timmons ranked. And therefore, I had to rank it a 3.
