Pros:

Well maintained park that features a magnificent final 7 holes that wind through gently rolling hills, moderate foliage, and a creek that has significant width and depth. These holes are masterfully designed and would rate a perfect score only if the landscape were slightly more spectacular. There is challenge and reward for good shots, bogies for less than perfect shots.

Cons:

The overall design of the course is flawed and it is not easy or intuitive to follow the course. The first 14 holes (and this was once a 24 or 27 according to a post on the kiosk, and baskets were given away to improve an area course to 18 holes) are far below average and the 4 star rating that the course gets (the truth is the final 7 rate about that).

The first two holes aren't bad and are a nice warm up, but the #2 green exits at the #5 tee. This is unforgivable and it's not obvious that the 3rd and 4th are in a small stand of trees just past the #5 tee. Other than the great 3rd and 4th, only the 9th rates as nearly the equal to the final 7. The park is really flat and boring and there is almost nothing in the way of obstacles on many of these holes.

Other Thoughts:

A redesign is in order and the course should be brought down to 18 holes that could be more tight and challenging, as well as easier to follow and without some of the several hundred foot walks between holes.

The first step is to renumber 5 and 6 to play as 3 and 4. Eliminate the 7th hole (it's hard to find, as you can see 3 baskets and 5 tees from the #6 green). Turn right and play #s 8-11 as the new #s 5-8. Add a sign to direct players to the old 9 (new 6). Add a sign to direct players to the old 11 (new 8, as there is a long walk from the new 7).

Eliminate holes 12 and 13 and redesign the 14th to be the new #9. The pin should be near the tee for the old #4. #4 will now be #10 and #3 will follow it and be #11. This small thicket is near the road and a small path can be cut at an angle from the new #11 to show the old #15.

15-21 will play the same and simply be renumbered as 12-18.

Thus you will have a tighter, easier to follow course that is no longer 2/3s long, boring and predicated only on distance. The best technical holes are retained, the bad holes eliminated, and the flow of the track will be much improved.
