This course is good for practicing some obstacle shots. You can play this course with a small group in about 45 minutes.

This course was very muddy after the rain, so the back 9 was difficult to venture through.

This course had a nice mix of open long drive holes and short obstacles holes.

-Nice clean park
-Easy-to-follow course layout
-Pretty nice tee pads

-Not much of a challenge, especially outside the woods
-Wind can be a factor

Unless you frown upon a course with holes under 300 feet, this is a fun course to play. There is a 600-foot hole 18, which is a nice wrap-up after throwing mostly fairway drivers in the woods. I've seen people ranging from ages 5 to 65 enjoying this course and I've never found it to be really crowded

-Good mix of open holes and tight technical wooded holes as well as a good mix of distances.
-Nice Tee Pads
-Nice descriptive and accurate signage
-Usually maintained pretty well

-Always seems like it's windy which is a factor on the front 9 but not the back 9
-Some holes do seem a bit repetitive
-Until trees grow bigger on the front 9 the holes aren't very challenging for more advanced players

Turtlecreek is a great course for all skill levels. It's not too difficult for beginners and advanced players will be challenged on some holes. It's a very fun course to play. I look forward to playing Turtlecreek in the future once the trees on the front 9 mature a little and get bigger, making for some more challenging holes. I highly recommend playing this course at least once because it won't disappoint.

There is a nice mix of distance holes that allow you to open up and throw for distance with a few short holes that are fun to take a shot at an ace on.
The holes in the woods make sure you better hit your line or you will be in trouble.

Maybe a little to short, but with the area they were given in the park, they did well. Some of the holes in the open can run into problems with shots from other holes crossing paths.
The rubber tee pads are beginning to deteriorate, either ripping apart or sliding off of the intended area, and some of the tee signs are missing now.

It is pretty much always really windy on the holes not in the woods.

Tight technical wooded holes with swing, great for tournament, excellent variety.

Flat, little elevation, hole 3 & 4 play too close to one another

Typically windy on the open holes, bring some stable plastic with you.

The course has a good mix of open and wooded holes. Allows you to really rip it and then play controlled shots on other holes. The course is easy to navigate.

None really worth saying. They are just picky things that don't much matter.

As a course designer I would suggest that designers pay attention to the PDGA par guidelines when setting par. You cannot set par based on the distance alone. #6 is 420 and according to the PDGA it should be a Par 4 from the RED Tee. The 600' #18 is the only legitimate Par 5 from the RED. That is based on distance. Foliage plays a big part of the par and most of the holes listed 4 or 5 should really be Par 3 or 4 based on PDGA rules.

A very well maintained facility with good signage and nice tee pads. A neat feature in the design of this course is that you can play 9 holes in the open or 9 in the woods.

Overall the course feels very "vanilla" many of the wooded holes feel the same and holes in the open field have little variation.
Lots of people play here, so on nice days you feel like you are kinda fighting the crowd and in peoples way.

The terrain here is very flat, on only a few of the holes are there any elevation changes and none of them are very significant. This makes the wind a huge factor.

Excellent course for men and women players. Most newer players aren't throwing 350' consistently and this course gives you a chance on several wide open holes to just get in some decent practice on your distance drives. The 2nd half is nicely wooded with some tighter lanes and let's you work on the more technical side of the game with several possibility at aces if you are good enough.

The wind can be absolutely brutal on this course in the open portion and even when you keep them low and hard they can tend to wander off in any number of different directions. The wind seems to change every 60 seconds out here and it can definitely make for some interesting throws.

I am really just a beginner having only been playing for about 3 months and I use this course to track my progression. Playing at the marked pars I usually finish around par to 2 over with a best game of 5 under.

nice open front 9, back 9 are nicely wooded. The front 9 will be better in a few years when the trees start getting bigger. front 9 is great for practice. The holes in the woods also have mulch or chipped wood laid down which makes it nice and not muddy, also a creek that runs through a few of the holes which this time of year was dried out

none really, nice little course, my wife likes to come and play the front 9 with me, while I enjoy playing the back 9, a good variety for beginners and experts.

Good Course, nice and clean, would also recommend Monroe course if you want some exercise going up and down hills

very good practice course, f front 9 is very open and back 9 is tightly wooded. the course allows you to throw a variety of shots.very nice signs and really easy to navigate.

Not the Most difficult course. Front nine could use some more trees but they have been planting so could shape out to be a little more challenging in a couple of years

the course is not overly challenging but good if you want to practice a bit. Great for a casual game, and not too crowded.

Im going to try and cover what others have not or I felt needed more attention.
-The trees added to the open holes have grown large enough to punish some throws.
Very challenging for Rec-ADV level players. Rec players can be happy with +4.

-Is very windy most of the time. Understable discs beware.

Holes 1-6, 10, 18pretty wide open. Holes 7-9, 11-17, very tight lined with trees.

Hole 1. Nice distance with some small trees in the fairway, fairly open to the left with forest all along the right. LH's need to throw a controlled drive and RH's have to play a big turnover. Can be very hard because the wind seems to fly straight at you and gusts.
Hole 2. A nice short mid range shot for both LH/RH some small trees to limit hyzer approaches.
Hole 3. This hole can push throws because of the wind be careful. Trees line both sides of the fairway. LH/RH have the options of a straight decent length drive or a big hyzer around the trees.
Hole 4. Good length and just enough trees to make you aim your 350ft park attempt.
Hole 5. A dead straight mid range that can be troublesome in the wind, putts can be somewhat difficult because of the mound the basket sits on.
Hole 6. A 420' hyzer route for RH, and a tricky straight to anny for LH. Your biggest worry is the massive hill the basket sits on.
Hole 7. Unless your just playing the front 9 you play through the small gap in the trees. This shot allows for some creativity in your approach for both RH/LH and the basket sits on a small hill again.
Hole 8. A dead straight fairway lined very closely with trees. This can be a nice little ace run for LH's and RH's have a chance as well. Nothing but dead straight and low will get you a 2.
Hole 9. In the woods and requires RH to drive with some right turn before working back to the left. LH's have an even tougher turnover line to work.
Hole 10. 400' with forest and over hanging trees up the entire right hand side. LH's can throw a big bomb drive with RH's have to throw a long anny and stay out of the woods. There are just enough random trees to the left of the tee to mess up a good shot.
Hole 11. Nicknamed the "face eater" for good reason. 410' of tight tree lined snaking S shape madness. A 3 is a great score for most all players on this hole.
Hole 12. Has 2 routes you can take and requires you to clear a snaking small creek. RH's have a hard hyzer route to manage while LH's have to do it with an anny.
Hole 13. Plays the opposite of 12 but more open and larger fairway to manage.
Hole 14. A very tight anny for RH, and hyzer for LH, plays longer than you imagine and is one of the tighter holes to manage with trees right off of the tee.
Hole 15. Is another RH hyzer, anny for LH be careful of the skip in this fairway this hole has been known to claim a lot of discs.
Hole 16. 2 routes to follow and allows a lot of options.
Hole 17. Only the straight tee is really playable. 280' of tightly lined slightly diagonal to the left mayhem.
Hole 18. 600' cannon arm awesomeness. Walking path is OB so be careful.

FRONT NINE IS OPEN. NICE LAYOUT. SOME SHORT HOLES. FLAT COURSE WITH GOOD TEE SIGNS. VERY WELL KEPT. OPEN LANES IN THE WOOD HOLES. I'VE BEEN PLAYING FOR LESS THEN A YEAR AND I AM USED TO VERY WOODED AND HILLY COURSES. THIS COURSE WAS A GOOD BREAK FOR AN OLD MAN.(51) I WILL PLAY THIS COURSE AGAIN WHEN I VISIT MY SON. VERY CLOSE TO 2 OTHER COURSES.

NOT MANY. A LITTLE TOO OPEN ON THE FRONT BUT THATS OK.

This course has newer, adequate baskets (but only two sets of chains), good tee signs, and good concrete tee pads (although they may be a bit short for some people's taste). The course also has good flow with no long walks between holes. It also has good, simple directional signs for the few walks that it does have.

I played this course in a tournament, so this may not be always the case, but the course was in immaculate condition. The open holes were mowed low and the wooded holes had fresh wood chips down almost every fairway.

This course offers great variety. There are the wide open holes that force you to learn to place your shots when nothing constrains you and that make you deal with the wind (although it was not at all windy when I played). But there are also tightly wooded holes that make you learn to throw controlled drives with tight lines and turns. In addtion, even within the wooded holes there was a great amount of variety with hyzer shots, straight drives, and turnovers.

There are three holes that end on mounds. These provided a good test of putting and required decent strategy to not blow up on a simple hole.

As a Novice rated player the length of this course also appealed to me. There were many holes under 250 feet. There were not too many holes that I would consider very long (400+).

Short tee pads, less than top-of-the-line baskets, and the overall length of the course limit its appeal to disc golfers of all skill levels. For advanced level players, this course may challenge their upshot game but it will rarely provide them a chance for long drives.

For tournament play or on crowded days (assuming the course gets some despite being far from a population center), there are a number of the open holes that have serious fairway interference issues. Considering how short many of the holes are and how close many of the next tees are to the previous baskets, there are many times when other players are in danger of being hit simply by being on their tee pad or in their fairway.

The course is pretty much flat. The open holes are not very challenging (except on windy days) due to a lack of trees and OB. Some of the wooded holes are a bit gimmicky and luck-oriented with their "fairway" lines: it is not entirely clear what the intended shot is supposed to be other than a putter tossed 100 feet or a shot thrown with eyes shut while hoping for the best.

On the whole, I really did enjoy this course. It was fun, challenging, and suited well for my novice game. Plus, it was harder than it seems. The best score on the day (190ish rounds played in the tournament) was only 8 under par (a 57 over 19 holes including 1 temp hole).

The parks department (or whomever controls the park) has added many trees placed strategically on the open holes and put protective material around their trunks. This will only make the course that much better as they grow over the years. Plus they have shown a good commitment to disc golf by maintaining the course very well with mowing, wood chips, gravel, and good signage.

This course is an excellent course for developing players especially since it gives them the challenge of both woods and open holes. However, it may not be a course more advanced players would enjoy very often.

First 7 holes are open and are set up for some easy birdies if you make a good tee shot. Once you get into the woods which is a good portion of the course your thoughts of this course completely change. Very tight wooded dog legs with blind holes, not many over 350 but still very difficult if you do not make a great tee shot. This course is very fun to play, you may think its easy at first, but just wait till you get to the woods. I would recommend playing this course no matter what skill level you are.

Open holes are a little too open.

Fun course, challenging back 9, great location its basically a disc golf park only right now.

Has Good mix of woods and open, Good distance with a few ace runs. The Mounded greens on a few holes are very unique. Great mix of righty and lefty holes. Great signs throughout the course to keep you headed in the right direction.

No elevation other than the mounded greens on a few holes. Trees on front nine are very small and are not really a factor as of now. Some teepads are close to greens which could lead to some fore's while playing.

This course played harder than the holes look. Was very windy (Not sure but it looks like it could be all the time.)

Back 9 is a tough wooded course with tight fairways.

Plenty of signs to direct you through the woods.

Flat course so it is easy for my 3 year to walk with me.

Front 9 is too vanilla with being in the open and no real obstacles. It is a good way to warm up the arm but not very interesting.

I would give the back 9 a rating of 4.0 and the front 9 a 1.5 hence my overall of 2.5. This course is worth checking out if you are in the area just for the back 9.

****Update November 2008***
The Parks Department put in abou 25 trees on the front nine to add obstacles to the course. The trees range in 6' to 20' so it will take time for them to mature. The front 9 is still quite easy (except for windy days) but the trees were definitley put in to make the course a bit more challenging.

Monroe is about 10 minutes away so you could play both courses (42 holes) in about 3 hours.

During the summer there is a weekly Thursday night league that is open to the public.

The back nine are challenging because they are tight and wooded, and force you to be techinically perfect. Also, there rarely seems to be heavy traffic at this course.

The front nine are too easy. Many of them are just a basket 200-250 ft. straight ahead with no obstacles. Get your birdies there...

I titled this review Night and Day because the front nine and back nine are so different. However, the back nine do make this a worthwhile trip if you're in the area. Also, Monroe has a course very near by, so stop there and make it a double header...

(5/21/09 Update: I originally reviewed this course in the Summer of 2008. Since then, a couple of new 9-hole course have been installed within 10 - 15 miles of Turtlecreek. The course are the Mason Sports Park in Mason, OH and Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, OH. Both are decent options which can can be played in conjunction with Turltecreek for a full day of disc. Countryside doesn't yet appear on this website because it's brand new, but just Google "Countryside YMCA" for directions.)

Nice course. Mach 2 New baskets. Mix of open and wooded holes. Great teesigns. Combo of short and long holes. Practice basket.

Need more obstacles on Beginning of course. Dig out a pond. Short teepads. Hole 6 teesign missing. Lots of trees fallen onto ground.

Front nine needs some sort of obstacles, it looks like they have planted some trees, but it will be ten years before they're big enough to do anything.

Front nine is in a wide open field, back nine is super tight through trees. Overall it's a nice course, but not particularly fun to play because it goes from too easy to too challenging

-Nice terrain/pads/great signs/well kept.

-Mostly short and very easy front, funky lines in thick woods on back.
-Almost NO trees on half the course, literally.
-Some woods holes have no realistic fairway, punish good shots.
-Some ivy in woods.

Plant some trees, make artificial OB's or dig a pond on front 9. Trim back some on the back 9.
Doesn't have the chance to be a 'great' course really, but it is good for teaching and for someone looking to just play a casual round.
