Course getting a tweek, needs a full make over. 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 11, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

You can see the white baskets from a long way away as you drive up to the course. It builds anticipation.

Beautiful white Dynamic Disc baskets in great shape.

7 1/2 foot long concrete tees

The camp sites are very affordable, high quality, and have great views. Plenty to do at the park for non disc golfers, or a mall just minutes away.

The camp store has about 14 discs for sale.

Cons:

No tee signs. This may be because of the changing layout, but it does not look like there was ever tee signs. This makes the tees very hard to find and makes navigation a nightmare.

Several holes are risky or just plain unsafe.
1. plays uncomfortably close to the main entrance road.
2. Plays along entrance road and finishes towards the road.
6. plays close to road and towards it
7. Most rewarding fairway plays directly over road.
8. one of 3 possible routes plays over the road
10. Basket by road (not busy with traffic, but busy walking path)
11. was completely unplayable. Tents were set up in the fairway next to a busy pavillion
14. Tee is 20 feet from Shelter 3. not as much a safety hazard, but you have to walk up to the group in the shelter and it is very uncomfortable having everyone wonder why you are 20 feet from their party.
18 Finishes very close to the parking lot. I was uncomfortable going for it in the wind and had to lay up. and play very safe since several car owners were watching me throw directly at their vehicles.

BASKET 12 IS GONE. Even if it was there, the location was so muddy, smelly, and disgusting I would not have played it.

TEE 13 was under 2 full inches of mud and BASKET 13 IS GONE.

15 TEE UNDERWATER, literally. There are 2 sticks stuck in the ground as a temporary tee.

Hole 17 throws over water with no way to cross except walk back to hole 5.

$5 to wander around the park looking for the next basket and working your way backwards to the most obvious spot to find the hidden tee. If you leave and return, you need to wait in line. The guy in the booth will run out of the booth and chase you if you try to drive around and skip the line. Watching him scream at motorists was almost humorous enough to be in the PRO section.

Other Thoughts:

I was staying at Tuttle Park just minutes from the course and I refused to play it again during my stay. I heard the course is getting a facelift, but It needs more than just a relocation of 2 baskets. Tee markers or Tee signs are vital. With a redesign of holes 12 and 13 and replacement of those baskets (not sure where they can fit), along with quality tee signs, I would give this course a 3.5. The safety hazards are simply too many to overlook.
