Villas Crossing is one of the Mid-Atlantic area courses that is introducing the "pay-to-play with amenities" style. Though your round costs money, you get to cruise around the mountains on wheels, which saves you a ton of energy! 1 round on foot here would be extremely tiring, whereas with cart, you could play 4 rounds! The Pro Shop offers a small selection of discs, but more importantly, food and beer! Both the food and beer selection are small, but it's a nice way to allow players to spend more time enjoying multiple rounds on the course. Concrete tee pads are in good shape with nice DISCatcher baskets on every hole. Elevation is the biggest asset of this course. From someone used to minor elevation in the course in the Philadelphia region, this redefined what I though elevation meant in disc golf.

Hole 1: slightly uphill open shot into a small grove of trees surrounding the basket.
Hole 2: massive par 4 signature hole featuring a scary drive that plays between dense brush and a large pine before opening up to a HUGE hill sloping downhill left to right. The basket is at the top of the hill, with a grove of trees around it and a fallen tree in front of it. Extremely hard to reach in 2 shots, as many people's 2nd shot turns into a rollaway downhill. Don't be upset with a 5.
Hole 3: Awesome elevation shot over 400 ft. and 5 or 6 stories down. I had never had the chance to see how discs behaved in elevation like that. Great learning experience, and great hole.
Hole 4: par 4, slightly uphill. One of the easier par 4's if you have decent distance. Some ppl play 2 big forehands with distance drivers. Others play a big turnover shot and a roller to get there in 2.
Hole 5: par 5, maybe the easiest hole on the course in relation to par. Big open drive slightly downhill. Can't get too greedy and overthrow or you'll turn into the tree line and have trouble. 2nd shot gets you to the opening of the woods, which shows a narrow tunnel 80 ft. further uphill to the basket. Easy 4 if you have clean power and nail your 3rd shot through the tunnel.
Hole 6: narrow uphill shot open at first, into a semi-tight gap leading to the hole. Birdie hole.
Hole 7: tight uphill short hole, either putter or midrange turnover. You can get in trouble if you kick off a tree, but otherwise another birdie hole ideally.
Hole 8: Smooth, midrange turnover hole with a tunnel early and lots of small trees dotting the end of the fairway. Very deuceable, but need to stay clean through the obstacles.
Hole 9: another signature hole, par 4, long straight tunnel. 2 controlled midrange shots with a little power is the way to go here. Fairway slopes right to left, so rollaways can happen on otherwise good shots. This is the biggest score separator hole. Birdie is there, but a 6 or 7 can come just as easily if you don't execute the drive and stay on fairway.
Hole 10: easiest hole on course, somewhat filler, but a nice gesture after hole 9. Short uphill hole with little in the way. Smooth midrange shot right at the basket. The uphill is the only obstacles that should come into play.
Hole 11: VERY similar to hole 8 - midrange turnover, play it the same as 8.
Hole 12: Blind shot through a wide tunnel that opens up with a large tree and bushes blocking the view of the pin. Big smooth fairway drive hyzer. Don't overthink it. Big slope left to right, so watch rollaways.
Hole 13: another signature hole. Drive need to thread thick brush on the left and tree/bushes on the right, then opens up to downhill approach to basket, which is on top of a really big mound. Smartest play is a careful midrange through the gap to eat up about 2/3 of the distance, followed by smart approach to bottom of mound. 2's can turn to 4's and 3's to 5's if you try to putt any further than 15 ft. Pro tip: there is also a hyzer line around the tree/bushes on right side of fairway off the tee.
Hole 14: slightly uphill and pretty open at first, but then heads into the woods with dense amount of trees. This is a hole to try and birdie, but you need a touch of luck to make it through.
Hole 15: another signature hole, massive par 4 downhill tunnel shot. Best advice: DO NOT throw a drive. Because the throw is so downhill, a putter or midrange that holds a really gentle turnover, or flips slowly and drifts right is what you want. It's been parked with a Roc before for drop-in eagle despite being 440 ft.
Hole 16: great open downhill hole, one of the toughest holes in relation to par. Though 500 ft. downhill, what makes the hole challenging is the OB golf green that comes into play between 430 and 480 ft., so it makes it nearly impossible to try to go for birdie. A midrange that lands just in front of the green is the smart play, leaving a 100 ft. approach. Be careful, as the basket is right on a ridge and drops off IMMEDIATELY. Lots of 4's carded on this hole.
Hole 17: another signature hole (I know, right?), and at 430 ft. almost straight down about 10 stories. This is another hole that taught me how discs behave with that kind of elevation. There are dense woods on the left, so you can't hyzer out too early. There is another OB golf green right in front of the basket, so you need to make it far enough or lay up intentionally short. There is a big net on the right "protecting" you from going into the road (OB), but be careful not to turn it over the net. I find an overstable mid-range flex shot works best.
Hole 18: par 5, maybe the 2nd easiest hole on the course. You really should get a 4 here. Big downhill drive into a wide open fairway. Big arms can go for eagle with a mash on their 2nd shot, but be careful not to straighten it out too much or you'll land on the OB golf green to the right of the basket.

The disc golf course intertwines with the front 9 of the ball golf course, so occasionally, you will need to communicate with golfers and figure out who's yielding to who. Thankfully, this isn't the type of disc golf on a ball golf course where every hole shares the golf fairway. So, it's really only holes 1, 2, 4, 5, 16, 17, and 18 that could compete with golfers trying to play as well. The only other con I can think of is that sometimes the golf carts can malfunction, but most of the times I've played, this hasn't been an issue.

I have a lot of nostalgia for this course, as it was the first time I've played disc golf on a golf course, and it's the first time I ever shot a 1000 rated round in a PDGA tournament. I love this place. The disc golf is immaculate. The staff is very friendly and enthusiastic about disc golf, and the region is absolutely beautiful. It is definitely worth the trip.

-Great elevation changes.
-Baskets are perfectly nice and in good shape.
-Teepads were level and plenty big.
Great golf lines and great mix of up/down/flat left/right long/short tight/open.
-Awesome views. Just Awesome.
-Bar on site with plenty of craft beers on tap.
-Golf carts.
-Very friendly staff.
-Rough had a pretty good balance of not wanting to go in it, but also not death by a thousand thorns. Some places were rougher than others.
-Lines were all quite fair, but plenty of shots you still had to earn the bird.

-Wish there were more basket placements and tees.
-Would be a hell of a hike without a cart but that only comes into play during the winter months. Which really if you play during the PA snowy winters, I guess you don't mind putting in the effort.

This course really blows my mind. It is such a fun experience that is hard to find anywhere else in the disc golf world. I talked to the staff for awhile at the bar and heard they had plans for a second 18 that would have glow in mind during the construction, which would really make this a destination.
With multi teepads and basket placements this course would be a 5.
I mean it has a very unique feel to it as soon as you get there. Sign in at the proshop, pick your cart keys up, buy some beer for the cart and off you go. You zigzag up the mountain for some mostly open bigger holes and then you hit the trees and zig zag up to the top and then wind your way back down the mountain. The elevation is used so well here. That's my favorite aspect of the course honestly. I love the use of the slope side to side that is used on some of the longer holes. I came here at the peak of fall and played the course bright and early, which I totally recommend to anyone coming here. The views of Pennsylvania at the peak of fall are just gorgeous and you get to lay drives out while enjoying that and cold beers await you. Hard to beat that. Definitely worth going out of your way to come here and enjoy a round. Can't wait to see how the destination grows and changes.

A tough walk.
Course not open into the winter even before snowfall.

For once I can be proud to live in Tamaqua, PA. This is the closest course to me and of the 6 I've played, this one takes the cake.

There are few flat shots on a beautiful course that plays up and over a classic Pennylvania hilltop moutain - we have mounds in PA, not peaks.

This is a well-thought out course that demands distance, distance with control, mid and putter work (straight shots if you got it), RHFH if you got it, and overhand if you need it.
Pay your small fee and chat with the friendly staff, rent a cart! or walk if you want the experience - I walked and I believe I'll use a cart from now on, as my legs got tired and affected my tee shots. If you want your round to be about the hike as well as the golf, then walk.

Holes 1 - 5 take you across and up, with long fairways (500', 600', 700' +).
#1 seems innocuous enough, a 289' shot into a basket under a large stand of pine trees. Until you stand on the tee and it's more uphill than it looks form the road, with a headwind as well.
#2 is a 577' rhbh hyzer from out between trees with a downhill sloping fairway that wants your disc to roll right. The pin is uphill, well-protected in trees with a horizontal downed tree in front.
#3 is a downhill shot that is trouble if you miss long or right. Calm day in the parking lot all of sudden there's all this wind up here.
#4 is 604' out into a fairway, with the pin tucked away in a stand of trees, with a line of immense trees running straight in the way from tee to pin.
#5 is downhill through another fairway ending with a sharp left into the woods with very thin lines to the basket.

Holes 6 - 15 play through a wooded section, again with elevation playing a huge part of shot selection and missed pars. I won't describe them in detail, but there are varied uphill, downhill, and along the hill shots, through tight lanes, and on some holes, unforgiving rough. These holes play very differently from each other and are not repetitive at all. There are a few that favor LHFH or excellent annhyzer work, but trees have a way of making fools of us all. There a some short shots (200', 204', 257') to break up and even out the distance of the earlier holes. Protected pins, pins on hillsides that flip up your softest putter, elevated pins on crumbling dirt piles (be careful) and on the 439' downhill #15, with a fairway that narrows as it goes down, and a headwind!? wooshing up the hill in your face, a hanging basket to welcome you back out into the open.

#16 takes you back out to the open fairways of the golf course, with a downhill 500' par 3/4 with an OB golf green and a hill behind that will rollout your rollouts.

#17 was perhaps my favorite, a 432' downhill at basket behind a green, with the green playing OB.

#18 is 802' and back home across the hillside, just in case you were a little tired from the first 17.

* Patience will be needed when the both golf courses are in use. I had the mountain to myself the day I was there, but I would certainly give the ball golfers right of way when in use.
* Tees pads are about 6', I know some folks will want longer walk-ups.

The Am/Pro Par scoring work very well - the Am pars were exceedingly fair; if you can throw consistently over 300' and have your other shots in line, you should probably use the Pro par.
Please go play this course, keep it clean, play nice with ball golfers. This is worth driving to, stay and play 2 rounds, and add it to your Eastern PA list.

Alot of variety. Some very long holes. Some holes through the woods and some holes are more open. You get to take a golf cart.
Has a pro shop with food and drink and bathrooms.

Some of the holes are shared with the ball golfers. Some of the greens are close to the baskets and the greens are OB. Some of the brush/woods is pretty thick and has thorns.

Very fun place to play. The long holes will favor the folks who can chuck it far. You get to use your long range discs that you don't need on some other courses.

We went later in the day so all the ball golfers were off the course but talking to some guys who had just finished playing disc golf they said they had to wait a few times for the ball golfers.

The hill through the woods on hole 7 was pretty steep and almost seemed a bit unsafe. Would probably not really want to walk this course.

You have to pay to play but I felt it was worth it. I will go back again.

The greens being OB on some of the holes seems a bit unfair on some of the holes like 17 where you throw down the hill and there is a very small landing area below right next to the green. You could end up like 20 feet from the basket but on the green and be OB.
Hole 17 is awesome though.

This course is awesome. Great signage, teepads, well maintained. Holes were all unique. Having a golf cart made it even more enjoyable. Scenery is awesome as leave are changing colors. Good mix of short and long holes as well as wooded and non wooded. The addition of a clubhouse where drink, food and merchandise was available is an added bonus. Great elevation changes also.

Not many here. The only thing I can think of is just off the fairway the pricker bushes were thick in some spots. Though the course is brand new so I am sure this will be better over time.

Definitely worth spending the extra $5 for a 2nd round. This place is a premier course for the area ranking right up some of the best.

This course is brilliant, and the design team behind the layout did an incredible job. This course has a certain feel to it. It makes the course feel almost "professional." The ability to play on a real ball golf course gives a feel that this is the direction disc golf is headed for the future course design.

To the course.... Elevation Change... The course thrives on several uphill/downhill shots, forcing wise placement to avoid roll-aways. The added distance on the longer holes (front 5 and last 4 holes) are not just grip it and rip holes as the pictures may lead one to believe. Hole 3 can be reached by a fairway driver thrown at 75% (175 Leopard parked 3rd attempt). Point being the elevation changes really challenge the mental game.
Holes 1-6 are tough elevation change heavy open holes, like i mentioned earlier big risk reward drives, and placement is key for the second shot. This is not a grip and rip course.
Holes 6-11 are fantastic Par 3 birdie run holes
challenging short tighter tunnel R/L and L/R and straight shots that placement and accuracy must be emphasized.
Holes 12-15 play in a beautiful open area with trees and some tougher greens. Especially the elevated basket on 13.
Holes 16-18 are the perfect dessert to the meat of the course. We had 20+ headwinds and those longer downhill shots with dangerous OB greens and the finishing putt on 16. These three holes are worth $3 themselves.
This is a must play course! It has everything you want in a great course.

There are a few drawbacks, but i rate this course a 4.5, which means they do not detract from the overall experience.
I think a better path can be cut through the woods from Hole 5 to Hole 6. It seems that course takes great strides to have disc golfers stay out of the ball golf fairways unexpectedly. I feel this could be improved.
Also i think the Pro Par could be lower maybe 1-2 strokes. For example 5 and 18 are rated Par 5. While I think hole 5 deserves the Par 5 rating i think hole 18 can be lowered to a Par 4.
The elevated basket on Hole 13 would benefit from steps being installed. I think this would preserve the hill from being ruined by foot traffic.
Lastly hole 17 could have a small line, or tee pad for the OB shot. I like the placement of the OB, but having a line (which may have worn of I am not sure) would be a simple fix.

This is one of the most promising courses in Pennsylvania. The carts, elevation, layout, and design are top notch. As long as the ball golfers and disc golfers can live in harmony I think this course will be in every players top10 for a long time.

- The view from many of the holes is just insane. Very beautiful.
- Very well maintained. A few of the holes run through the golf course so of course those are well maintained but even the wooded holes had good lanes that were cleared and there were no major areas where I though needed grooming.
- Good signage (although no map)
- A lot of distance on the first few and final few holes
- Amazing elevation change on this course. Very deceptive ups and downs. Hole #16 and #17 were favorites of mine coming down the hill. Nearly aced #17.
- Very friendly people running it. I bought a disc with their logo on it and the woman also threw in a free tshirt because I was from so far away (Portland, ME)
- Only $3 bucks to play if you walk. I recommend walking. Yes it was tough but it was worth it. They do have carts and even with a cart the course is cheap.

- The thorns and bugs. I feel like this is more a PA thing than a course problem but the nats were awful in September. Distracting on many if not all the holes. Bug spray did nothing to stop them. The rough is pretty rough. If you miss you will get cut up and cut up bad. Not terribly hard to locate discs but some thicker areas that made it tough to retrieve them.
- Playing next to golfers. I actually felt unsafe on a few holes thinking I would be hit by a golf ball if they didnt see me down the hill or around a bend. Overall not a super busy place in Sept so it wasnt a big issue.

Just go play it. It is worth every penny and more. Also man up and walk it, unless you physically can't, then get a cart fill it with brown water and enjoy.

Ball golf converted to DG will probably be the wave of the future. This is the first of it's kind in PA. Huge, wide open fairways. Sick elevation changes for mega drives on some holes. The golf cart was a huge plus. You'll be glad you have it for Par 4s & 5s. Yes, you can even drive it through the wooded holes! Super scenic landscapes. Cart rental is included with $10 fee. Tee signs are really well done and way finding signage makes navigating the course a breeze. Well thought out course design.

Pay to play, but worth ever dollar. Course is located a bit off the beaten path. You might need to find your way off the course around 4PM on the weekend. Staff likes to close up shop around then. Get on the course early in order to play through at your own pace.

Once this course pulls together a course map, it should rise to top as one of PA's best courses. You have to try it! No need to fret if you forgot supplies or find yourself in a rush. Their club house has it all. Very friendly staff. So much fun, I couldn't stop smiling during the entire round.

1. Golf carts! It's awesome to be able to drive to fetch your discs. Also a nice way to travel throughout the course's beautiful wooded areas.
2. The views are very scenic, with a nice overlook of the valley.
3. Lots of wide open spaces on the green holes to get some practice at long drives, and a few elevated baskets (one hanging).

Really thick underbrush on a couple of the holes which lead to easily lost discs and some nice scratches on the legs. Lost 2 discs due to shanking my drives too far into the weeds.
Lots of tunnel shots (could be a pro if you like tunnel shots).

My wife and I really enjoyed this course. Having golf carts really made it much easier to navigate the course. We will definitely be returning to this course. Had a lot of fun.

-Driving a golf cart to play disc golf is a lot of fun
-Well designed course with varied shots and approaches
-Par 3, 4, and 5's which makes it very interesting in having to plan attack on how to get to the hole instead of just drive n' putts like most courses that only have par 3's
-Course plays along side real golf course which makes it feel like you playing a real round of golf, which is something I have not experienced before on any course
-Has some truly epic downhill shots (#17 is my favorite hole I have ever played)
-Pro shop has discs to peruse, beer, food, soda, bathrooms, and a friendly staff
-Good signage, nice baskets+tee pads, and well maintained
-Length of the course is manageable for pros and beginners alike

-I can't really think of a negative about this place. Having water on the course somewhere would be nice and I had some issues getting the golf cart around near the woods holes, but these were not big issues and did not take away from my enjoyment of the round.

This course is a lot of fun to play and it is obvious the designer and people overseeing it know what they are doing and love the game. I will be back even though it's a little over an hour from my house because it was worth the drive.

gorgeous course with a great variety. the convenience of the cart is much more than a novelty but does also make it even more fun. the people at the check in area are great. they have very affordable drink ($3.50 for jack n coke, i think $2 pbr). if u buy beer they even supply a cooler and ice.

the membership fee. if you pay $60 for a pass til 2015 ends, you still have to pay $6 a round with carts. so you only save $4 per round so if my shitty math is right you need to play over 20 rounds to break even. you do play for free with no cart but thats half the attraction. however if you do want it make sure you buy it before the round because they will not discount you the $10 you already spent if you try to get it after (which is my only complaint personell wise)

very possiblymy favorite course, mainly because of the addition of carts, my even without carts it would still be a certain top 3, especially because there is a great atmosphere at the lodge and cheap drinks. for the second weekend we were the first there at about 11 and only 6 people checked in by the time we were done.
