Classic HayField Style DG 2+ years

Pros:

The folks who installed and maintain this course have put in some pride in their work, with nice, fresh mulch, good fairway mowing, decent DGA baskets, a fresh bench at the start, and a good sized stone at each tee, engraved with an inspirational quote or scripture. With hole distances ranging between 200 and 440 feet, they've used the rolling field terrain to decent effect, and the course really picks up in fun and intrigue at hole 6.

After the initial five holes have helped you limber up (and where I'm sure the long summer hay and grasses off the fairway will keep you wanting to keep it under control), you get to play a down-sloping left to right sixth hole where a deep ravine and woods guard the direct approach to the basket. Then you'll play a shorter uphill seventh, which features a slope-side basket position that becomes interesting in the frequent winds the area is prone to. You play back down-slope to 8, placed just before the wood line, and then bomb up slope to the 9th basket, back to the parking area, making for a good, logical loop.

Cons:

The lack of variety over the first five holes inhibit the replay factor quite a bit for a guy like me with a middle aged arm. A good throw on the first three will give me a chance at a putt, but I'm looking at heave, approach and putt on 4 & 5. On the other hand, more advanced players will not find enough challenge here to keep them from seeking a deuce on nearly every hole on the course. It made me wonder who owns the woods beyond the course. With its interesting, rolling terrain PLUS woods lines to hit, there might be some good options in there to spice things up.

Other Thoughts:

In all, I thought West Bridge was a nice installation, but less than inspiring as a disc golf challenge. I also corrected some of the distances and slopes listed here on dgcr to match the signage and reality.

Pros:

DGA Mach 3 Baskets. DGA Tee signs and seem accurate. Nice mix of hole Distance, with 5 Averaging 372' & 2 Averaging 421' and the last 2 Averaging 233'. Hole #6 is the most interesting, with it having the only obstacle. A little Gully protruding out from the Tree line that has a area cut out of the trees making a tunnel shot for tough ace run or a putt for the beginner. #7 plays with a long mound on the right, with tall grass it's a blind shot. #8 has a few low branches near the basket. With this being a new course 3/4 dozen Trees added, in the correct place, this will be a better course for all level of players.

Cons:

Open and Pretty much Flat. I've marked under "Hole Info." the terrain changes on each hole. The up/down indicator is more extreme than what the course actualy plays. As of now #1 to #5 are wide open with tall grass bordering each side.

Other Thoughts:

From I-465 & Rockville Rd. It took me about 35 minutes to the course. In rush time you could double that time,ALOT of stop lights on Rockville Rd.! From 1-70 & State Rd. 39 it took me 25 minutes. Park in the North Lot #1 Tee at the southeast end,by the playground.
