Westport House in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland was once the grand house of the aristocratic Brown family. Descendants still live on the property. Today, it seems to be kind of a large, public park with walking paths, ponds, cafe, large manor house, camping and more.

The disc golf course is right across the street from the cafe. There is a sign at the front. The tee signs are simple little ones which only read Westport House and the hole #. The baskets are the DGA models with the alway hard to read red numbers. There are no tee pads but the area next to the signs shows some wear so someone is playing this course, mostly in the summer so I was told.

There used to be a five euro charge to play but that has been discontinued. The nine holes are all very similar both in distance (90' to 120'), and challenge (elementary school). #'s 1 and 5 require just a small annie. # 7 is blind and straight up over a small hill. The rest are basically straight ahead at around 100 feet.

The 9 holes loop back to the start. There are a few trees to avoid. Even average players should shoot an easy 6-8 under. Every hole is an Ace opportunity.

For being one of only five courses in the country, I think it wonderful. Yes, it's an easy 9 hole recreational/beginner course but it's free and easy to find and a very quick find. There was some wind today, as well.

County Mayo is on the western side of Ireland, a few hours west of Dublin. If you're circling the island, it might be on you itinerary. Otherwise, you're going to miss it and head for the nearest pub for a pint of Guinness!
