Hometown bias 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 17, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Very well maintained course with a good flow. Every hole makes the best possible use of the land that is available. A wide variety of shots can be used with many holes offering several lines to the basket with and good risk/reward for each choice.

Cons:

The new nine offer the opportunity to throw longer shots but there is little more to it than simply throwing far on some of the holes. The land on that side of the park really doesn't have much to offer.

Other Thoughts:

It's hard to list too short as a con for the original 18 holes when they make such good use of the available land. I've been playing this course for 8+ years and I still have fun every time I go out. Though scores in the low 40's do happen on this course for pro and advanced players on a regular basis there is never a time when they do not enjoy the round!

Decent course if your in the area 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 15, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course has nice large teepads. There are some holes around a stream and a lake that will require you to place your drives accurately. The front nine has a nice flow of holes either throwing out of the woods to the open or from the open into the woods. The back nine has several holes around the lake that require some accuracy. I really likes holes 3-5 and 14, 15, 16, and 18

Cons:

This course is pretty easy if you avoid the water. There are lots of chances for 2's and the original 18 is very short. A midrange can reach almost every hole. The new nine is basically wide open will very long holes. I didn't really enjoy the new nine at all. I like long courses but I just didn't find any holes on the new nine that offered much. The course also has several tee signs that seem to be backwards. When you are walking to them you cannot see a hole number.

Other Thoughts:

This is a fun course to play that is not very difficult. The original 18 is pretty well designed and would be fun for any skill level. If I'm ever up to play it again I'll probably skip the additional nine.

Variety is the spice of life 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 2, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

No two holes are the same. On one hole you will be throwing down a steep hill towards a river guarded basket, on another you will be throwing a spike hyzer up a steep bluff...really keeps you on your toes! Very nicely laid out course that offers a decent level of challenge while maintaining the fun factor. Every disc golfer should be able to find a hole or two that will stick out in there mind after they play Yellow Creek for the first time. The Final nine holes (19-27) are a nice addition that provide an opportunity too air-it-out a little. If you find yourself in Owensboro, make sure you take time to play this course. It is truly a pleasure to play.

Cons:

Yep, there's lots of duck poop. Creek will devour your discs if water is high. Not the most challenging course for highly skilled players.

Other Thoughts:

I decided to make the 70+ mile drive to play this course at the reccomendation of my brother. It is totally worth the drive on its own merits. I played Panther Creek on the same trip and wish I had just played this course twice. Will definately be back.

Pros:

A great course. Lots of variety, elevation changes. The creek comes into play on #1. I've seen some of the big arms go into the creek or blow past this hole. Many of the holes are birdiable but, because of pin placement, you can go from birdie to bogie in the blink of an eye. Hole #3 has become my personal favorite. Hole 18 over the lake is not that far, but a little wind and it becomes tough. Very challenging course with the creek & lake coming into play on several holes. One of the best maintained courses I have ever played. The parks dept. is the best. The additional 9 holes to be added will be the crowning touch to a great course!

Cons:

Fowl fecal matters, or as others have said, duck poo. Restroom facilities for humans would be nice.

Pros:

Great course and great use of space. Well maintained!! Doesnt offer the distance shots like other courses but will make you play well and hit putts. Hole 4 has a great elevation change, and a bad kick off a tree will have you going from Birdie to Bogey...

Cons:

Yes, the Geese will attack you. Also, I wouldnt recommend walking barefoot around the lake.

Other Thoughts:

27 holes soon, can't beat that, much applause and respect goes out too the local guys down there in Daviess County.

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 27, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Good course for all skill levels. The addition of 9 more holes will make this course much better. scores of 40 do happen. 18 is a nice test for a newbie Disc Golfer!

Cons:

Goose poop!
scores of 40 do happen

Other Thoughts:

overall...one of my personal favorites. Hole 6 is a well designed hole. 6 has a beautiful risk/reward putt if 30 ft+ short of the pin

Awesome Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 27, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

New 9 holes will be added soon. The extra 9 holes will only be 1000 ft. shorter than the original 18. Uphill, downhill, forehand, backhand shots all required. Infamous hole 18 is a great finishing hole.

Cons:

Geese Poo everywhere around the lake. Maybe a little to short of a course for the big arms, but it atleast requires you to know how to putt.

A Great Par Three Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 26, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

This is a GREAT pitch and putt course. There is a good combination of nearly EVERY type of shot you can think of. Up hill, down hill, left to right, right to left, water hazards, OB, it's all there at Yellow Creek. The park is always well maintained and the locals are terrific. Nine more holes will be added permenantly later this year.

Cons:

It is a bit short by most Pros standards but if your looking for fun pitch and putt course this is a course for you. Goose and duck poop can really build up around the lake too.
