2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 4, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Awesome technical coarse. Lots of Hyzers. A 9 hole coarse directly across the street. The coarse will be modified sometime in the summer , to a 18 hole coarse. Tee pads are concrete

Cons:

Needs some serious signage. getting across the creek is a little rough. Hole 9 is really confusing, as it has 2 baskets.

Good But Not Great 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 13, 2008 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Very fun course. Who doesn't love throwing a disc off of the top of a hill? You get to do that on the first hole. Very cool.

Excellent layout, given the piece of land that it's on. They squeezed every bit they could out of the real estate.

Some nice variety. There are holes in the open and holes in the woods. Some holes are "grip and rip," while others require a more careful approach.

There is a second course across the street at Kent State Trumbull Campus. It's not a great course, but it's another course.

It's pretty accessible; just off the Route 5 bypass at the Rte 45 exit.

Cons:

Not a full 18 holes. It's good that it isn't though, because they didn't have enough land for 18 holes.

Other Thoughts:

I only get to play this course when I visit my folks who still live in the area. One of my favorite things is an early Saturday morning round and a trip to Mickey's Army Navy afterward. What a cool store! I usually end up at Plaza Donuts on 422 either before or after my round for a cup of coffee and a maple-glazed, creme-filled donut. If it's too late for donuts, I hit the Jib Jab Hot Dog Shoppe near 422 and I-80 in Girard on the way home.

Nicely wooded, decent technical holes 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 22, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

This course has some fun holes, one going over a river and some nice doglegs. Many of the early holes are cleverly and challengingly placed in wooded surroundings. Minor hills.

Cons:

Last few holes feel tacked-on to what was probably a 9-hole course originally. Decent holes, but don't fit into the vibe of the core course.

Other Thoughts:

Worth checking out if it's a fairly close drive for you. Some solid and clever holes on the course early on.
