BEST COURSE IN DFW 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 22, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is in amazing shape! It offers every shot you can imagine throwing. Huge hyzers, huge anhyzers, huge forehands, long straight tunnel shots, blind shots, elevated shots, and everything inbetween! One of the coolest dynamics of this course is its history. The course was dedicated to always be a public park in Fort Worth after a local business owner purchased the property and dedicated is as such to the city. The locals are awesome and always willing to help you find the tee pads but once you get to hole one it flows in the most natural way a disc golf course can. The tee pads are all very large and in great shape! This is by far the best course in DFW.

Cons:

I cant think of one negative aspect about this course.

Other Thoughts:

If you are ever in Fort Worth contact the local club The Texas Chain Society for information on minis and a league that is run weekly! We hope to see you on the tee pad!

Been Playing Here for Years 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 24, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Fun as hell at night, park closes at 11 pm, so get ya some.
-Many holes require an extremely accurate shot to stay dry (#14 and #18)
-A few good ace opportunities
-Multiple Boxes and pin locations.
-Pins are changed fairly often
-Disc golf only park.
-Park is well maintained
-Brand new baskets (2017)

Cons:

-Can be crowded
-Trash sometimes is bad
-The train seems to always come at the worst possible moment lol
-Easy to lose a badly thrown disc
-No restrooms.

Other Thoughts:

I have been playing this course regularly for about 10 years now. Seems like every time I play, there is some new challenge. Just started playing it at night about a year ago and I have to say, that is an absolute treat! The Academy on Bryant Irvin sells disc lights (in the fishing section) and discs (Dynamic Discs, Innova, Millennium, and DisCraft). The gas station off of Winscott usually has 2/$3 Powerade/Gatorade.

The Thursday mini's are a blast! They start at 6 pm, so plan on getting there around 5:45. They alternate playing singles and doubles. Costs $10 for doubles and $8 for singles. At doubles, there is an ace pot and if no one gets that, then they do CTP.

My favorite hole is #11. Its a downhill run with the pin either left, center, or right. I usually try to thread the trees with a backhand when it is left or a sidearm when it is right. i feel an ace waiting there for me....

**EDIT** There are now 18 brand new Innova baskets now. Also there are several new concrete tee pads. The Mighty Z layout has many more new teeth and will challenge even the best players.

Gotta Get Your "Z" Fix! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 25, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is flat out FUN! It has elevation changes and a wide variety of hole lengths. This has multiple pin positions and a few holes with multiple tees. This course requires all the shots you can muster and has some OB areas. There is some water coming into play on 4 of the last five holes. Note, the water is rarely so high that you will lose a disc to it. There is a beautiful gorge to throw over on #12 that is just fun to dodge trees and throw across. The longest hole, #4, is a great down hill slope that gives you a great view to watch your disc soar on. The best hole has to be #9 which fires off a cliff and must carry over 225 feet before dropping to clear the tree tops down into a flat, semi-open area. Picture time! I must say there are many picturesque holes here. There are some nice built up concrete tee pads and they are all long and wide. The newly implemented tee signs telling have good info on them including which way to the next hole from the long basket. There are trashcans at most of the holes. One thing really worth searching out is seeing/throwing from the "somewhat hidden" Championship Rubber Tee Pad on #12. It is a freaking awesome little window shot through the tall trees! (location: up the hill behind basket #7 toward the RR tracks and there is no sign for this).

Cons:

Even with the new tee signs navigation can be tricky your first time out. So until there is a map for this course, grab a guide if you can. This place can be VERY busy and even with lots of trashcans, there is still trash everywhere unfortunately. There are no bathrooms on site, but 7-11 is just across the highway about .5 mile away.

Other Thoughts:

The Fun Factor here is outstanding! It's a pretty crowded course, but playing early seems to be the way to go. However, this is a sign of a fun course, especially when there are many other places to play in the Fort Worth area. I really enjoyed the challenge of this course. I certainly make the drive to play here as often as I can. I can't mention enough just how much I love the challenge that this course brings. If you are ever traveling to Fort Worth or even near by, this is a place you will want to play.
