Which of these does not belong: Wraith, Groove, Vulcan, half eaten carrot.

Answer: Groove. It's the only one on that list that is worthless.

In all seriousness, it's intermittently like an over-glided, slightly-gelded Boss. Keep your wraith love up, and if the Vulcan works out for you, Kudos. If you just HAVE to try something new, maybe give an Archon a shot when they come out.

Well my best drives come from my Vulcan, but its too light, 164. My wraith is old, bought it from play it again sport. No idea how heavy. I am getting a heavier Vulcan for sure. And had some extra cash and wanted to try something new. Should I just pick up a new Wraith?

This post makes me want to gouge my eyes out. The groove is one of the most terrible discs innova has ever made (btw I have a champ one you can have for 5 bucks, plus shipping). How long have you been playing? Because this is a very noobish question. Get a leopard and a putter of choice and don't buy anything else till you get how to throw the basics.

I am new. I've played about 12 rounds over the last couple months. I wouldnt say I'm a beginner any more. Sorry to be a noob, best way to learn is to ask right?

throw 50 throws each disc, you'll find quick the wraith is the only disc you need outa the 3.

I didn't mean to be mean but don't throw that fast of a disc yet. That was the one thing that set me back in improving on my game for the first three years. Learn to be accurate with mids and then move to the big guns (you will find the big guns don't go that much further than reliable slower molds). I was a little harsh my apologies and best of luck with the progression.

Okay, I don't consider myself a noob by any means, but please answer me this question. Why no love for Grooves. I see a lot of hatred on these forums for that disc. However, I have never throw one. I never actually had a desire to because of the groove in the rim. But what is so bad about them. I'm not trying to get hated on here. Like I said, I've just never throw one.

I have never understood the hatred for the Groove. I have thrown it for over a year, have an ace with one and I think it is a fine disc, IF you have the arm for it. A lot of the people who bitch about it aren't capable of throwing it, I would guess.

It's just horribly inconsistent for most people. There's a reason certain molds are popular and others aren't. Over many years and millions of throws, the quality molds stand out because of their reliable flight characteristics, and the crummy ones get dissed and fall by the wayside...

grooves???!!!

Just the opposite I think most of these people find them flippy. They are a faster disc but if you get into it with a good rip they are flippy, not a good wind disc either. Just my personal opinion. And yes I do have the arm for it, I just find a BOSS to be more reliable where they don't flip unless I mean them to. I really liked the ones(grooves) I had when they first came out but then I began working on form and began to overpower them more often than I wanted. not to say it can't be the disc for you. throw what feels comfortable and more importantly works for you.

the groove is to Innova as the torque is to Discraft. At least Discraft can man up and say these are great 1/6 and fly like we designed, but thats not good enough for us so we are not going to produce them. Innova just keeps making them and sending them out for new players to buy...

Well, if you don't have the arm, they are horribly inconsistent meathooks. I throw my groove for a shot that I need the disc to go out about 300' then turn and go straight left about 100' (RHBH). I'm throwing max weight and I can make the disc do what I want it to, but I watched a friend pull it out of my bag the other day. He's a pretty experienced player, but doesn't have nearly the arm that I do (I throw my putters where he throws his fairways). That thing turned on him so fast, he put a tombstone in the ground before he knew what happened. Bottom line: Can the Groove work for you? If you threw it right, a picnic plate could work for you. Is it the best idea? NO. Having said that, mine isn't coming out of my bag!

Why do people hate on the Groove?

A: The groove is a very sensitive disc. When I threw one it did very great things for me for a few throws (lots of D) but sometimes would turn and burn. I stopped using because I couldnt rely on it to do the same thing every time.

As for what disc you should buy with your money...

Slower disc could help your game. Being able to throw a putter smooth can help with all your other discs.

Try and find an older disc golfer (years played, not age) and see if he or she will let you borrow a few discs. This way you can try them out before you go and purchase. Every disc is going to be a little different for every one. A disc some one on here loves you may hate. And just because people on dgcr hate a disc does not mean it might not fit you and your style. Good luck and have fun discn

Buy yourself a star or champ Valkyrie around 170gms and lower your scores. It's a good compliment to the discs you already have. A Groove is too close in flight characteristics to the Wraith and Vulcan to justify a purchase. Bomb with the Vulcan, drive hard with the Wraith, play disc golf with the Valkyrie FTW.

If you feel you must have another 13 speed driver, get a Boss, Katana or Nuke. The Katana and Nuke cover the same uses as the Groove in a more consistent way.

Prosit!

A Groove has its place. If you need a disc that performs like a slightly longer monster then the groove is for you. For 99% of the people the groove is a heavy turning meathook. Sometimes that is what the shot calls for. More than likely though most people have another disc in their bag that they can use to meathook a corner, so there is no need for a groove. The groove is one of the most if not the most hated driver that innova ever came out with. Search the marketplace and you can probably find one for less that $5 shipped.

Go get a leopard and a roc, if you don't like the leopard then get a tl
