So I ended up getting a 169 Pro and a 168 champ, both pretty flat and man these things are awesome. Yesterday it was 20-30mph consistent winds w a little mist all afternoon. Had to go out anyway. First throw w/ both of them was probably the best BH'd drive I've ever had. Was getting them out to 300 dead straight by the end of the round. I was surprised at how well they flew in such ridiculous wind.

You guys were right, the pro is just money all around. The champ is a little more stable but just didn't feel as good on each throw as the pro. Pretty cool the lines you can shape w these things, even w my minimal BH experience. I can see why people pair these w/ TB's, covers almost any shot besides utility type shots w a firebird or something.

Sunny out w low winds today, looking forward to seeing what else these can do.

i just bought two of em but havent got to try em out yet :( got a 169g thats super domey and a 167 thats relatively flat.

Long live Leopards.

What's this? Hung up on exotic plastic? Say it ain't so! This frickin place...

So I have bounced around a bit looking for a real comfortable / consistent stable to under stable fairway driver. I started out throwing Z Xpresses, and while I had success with them, I found that they were kind of squirrelly and would either hold hyzer, stay flat, or flip. They wouldn't give me that nice flip- turn- and slowly fade forward kind of shot.

So I ventured on to the Opto River. I loved it, it did everything I asked of it until it somehow fell out of my bag (I must not have adequately stuffed it back in the bag while I passed by a group letting me play through)
Now, my first thought was simply to replace it, but I heard some horror stories about disc-to-disc inconsistencies, so I decided to try something that I have always heard to be very consistent and workable.

SOO, I decided to turn to leopards and see what they can offer me.

I picked up a max weight Star Leopard and while it hits some nice anny lines, I find that it does an excellent job of locking on the line you give it, and simply holding that line. I did not find that it allows for much when I am looking to get some turn early in the flight and gaining some fade later in the flight.

Is this generally true of the mold? Or should I try it in different plastics?

Oh, not true. Do some searches before making a stmt like that. Many a post on discs like Northman, Warship, Roadrunner, Z XL, Leopard, Diamond, Squall, etc where all is rosy and good info shared. Sh*t happens when posts get jumped by cheap shot artists like yourself. Nothing at all to add, stick the knife in, and get out. Weak...

just have to post some more love for the Leo.. have yet to toss a CE (which im sure is prob a good thing..for my wallet at least) but cant get enough of the Pro-Line and Pre-Barryness.. been throwing both more then anything else in my bag as of late and can shape about any line i need and things are sneeeaaky long

What would be the best plastic for a newer player who wants to throw a leopard 150g? Would it be DX or make any sense to invest in "better" plastic for the long run?

i would say start with dx or pro. those will eventually become more understable than the other plastics. if you get more power you could likely stick with those plastics and just buy heavier weights. and if you're comfortable throwing 150 and don't feel you're ready to move up in weights, champ or star will take a bit longer to break in. but yeah, i would just go with dx or pro for now and see how you like it.

The reason I ask is I was given an innova starter set last year that contained a DX leopard 150g. I was an idiot and tried to throw faster "cooler" discs like everyone else and never developed good form untill recently. I did use a champ Orc and it was my go to driver. Now that I have been working on my form I'm finding discs in my bag that I never used due to me being clueless such as a elite z bar stamp buzzz that made playing so much more enjoyable by throwing lazers with it. I have been working on mids and approaches so much that I find myself never wanting to use a driver anymore. After finding this thread I'm excited to pull the DX leopard out and find another disc that I can throw accurately and have fun with. Thanks guys

working on cleaning up my form, the leopard has given all of my driver slots except for major wind
Glow leo 9/10 flies like a tee bird has plenty of stability
Pb leo 8/10 flies like a broken in tee bird
Star leo 7/10 laser straight with a little fade
Pro leo 7/10 anny machine.

If you don't know you better ask somebody!!!

Love this mold.
