Your FAVE Course Signage???

(Unless I'm unaware of another newer thread) It's been nearly 3 years since we've seen some prime sign examples. Show them to me!

I don't have it yet (or maybe never) but my idea was to put iPads at each hole on my course with hole info and some interactivity... that would be sweet if not incredible overkill!

Grand Central Station in Central, SC has some great signage done by Plays It Forward. They have done a number of courses as well as all the signage for the US Championship at Winthrop last year.

Video shows some of the signage at Central.

I dig it. Could show flybys of the hole, videos of the hole being played. Videos of the hole being played by girls in bikinis. Input stats on the hole by every player. Or how about a pin placement selection, choose the pin location you want to play and the pin automatically moves.

I'm not biased at all, but my brother designed the signs for Rockness Monster and Sasquatch DGC in Roxboro, NC. I happen to think they are excellent. I especially like the Rockness ones, but the Sasquatch signs are supposed to be fun. If you look at each Sasquatch sign in sequence as you play, the character gets more and more beat up (see the two images). Pretty clever.

But I'm not biased. :)

This would be a great idea, especially on a private course where you can limit vandalism. Doubt this could ever work on a public course.

For a private course, what about an iPad mini or other small tablet (with a credit card as collateral, perhaps?) for each playing group, with hole-by-hole fly-bys, distance information, a digital scorecard, already on there? Like a digital caddy book + scoring app. When you get back to the clubhouse, the scorecard data is automatically uploaded to a database to keep track of the course scores, notes, and conditions on a round-by-round basis...

My favorite as far as practicality goes for our always vandalized signs would be Harrison School's in Canon City, CO. Simple black metal with the hole info. cut out. No matter how much Sharpie or graffitti they can pile on, the signs are always gonna be readable.

Tee signs at Independence Lake - Red Hawk show the elevation change from tee to pin... love that they provide this info.

Also on all of the signs my brother designed for Dave's courses. Great idea!

Now, what I don't like is a tee sign that tells me the "effective distance" by the PDGA guidelines, e.g. 400', -20', plays 340'. If I see an elevation change, I can figure that part out.

I'm trying to upload a good pic but I've never done it before on this site. help me!

Figured it out! This is from Devil's Glen Course in Bettendorf, IA.

Thanks for the pointer, looks like I beat you to it by a minute though! :hfive:
