[Putters] Driving Putter in Premium plastic

Lucid-x warden for stable shots and I second the previously mentioned champ rhyno. Awesome discs that are super reliable

The 2022 Tour Series Luna in Swirl ESP looks, feels & flies ridiculously nice. Two things, though...

1) It's loooong for a putter. It flies mid distances.

2) It's nowhere near a 3 Fade. More like a 1. The thing is straight.

Nice necrobump of a thread by yours truly.

Tons of new options on the market since this thread was started. My overall preference is still baseline, the grip and glide are better than premium counterparts.
I have enjoyed Cryztal Challengers the couple of times I have tried them out. I've bagged a Diamond Warlock on and off over the last year and it's done well, albeit much beefier than expected.

My favorite driving putter in premium plastic is currently a Plasma Envy has a real nice finishing fade...

Plasma Envy feel deeper, are more stable, and bomb off the tee.

Under the radar a Sensei in premium plastic is very slightly less stable than a (hard to find) plasma Envy, has the same feel, and also bombs. You have to check weights with a scale.

I'm also in the Envy camp. I typically bag an electron firm and either a plasma or neutron soft depending on my mood.

I'll give an honorable to the Streamline Pilot as well.

Piggy backing here.

Throwing putters have always been this strange realm for me. Lately been Zone/Envy/Proxy, but have been wanting to spread out the stabilities a bit more with three discs still. Thinking Zone/Reko/______. The Reko slides perfectly between the Envy/Proxy, IMO, and flies more like a true putter.

Any thoughts on what can fill the US slot (premium plastic)? An US putter that isn't a mid, and doesn't pretend to be.

A 400 PA4 was always a really nice US PnA when I carried one. Super glidey and I still think Prodigy plastic is near the top in quality

My home is course is pretty short, so I used putters to drive a lot. Problem is, they get dinged up, warped and tacoed in a relatively short period of time.
Anybody have a recommendation for a putter that would be good in premium plastic, that would also be tacky and grippy? I have experience throwing aviars, wizards, warlocks, challengers, foci, and a few others along the same vein. I liked them all about the same, so no real preference.

The best driving putter discs are the MVP/Axiom discs. Not really a question, more of a fact. The plastic, the craftsmanship, the durability, and then the most important part... the flight. All things that the MVP/Axiom putters do better than everyone else.

I'd have to go with the Envy as the best of them all though, but you can't go wrong with the Proxy or Ion either. In fact, all of them are amazing. Just depends what type of flight you're looking for. They have a plastic and mold for every type of putter throwing need you can think of! I have an Eclipse Envy and it has done nothing but amaze me every time I throw it! In fact, I try to FIND ways to throw it if I can, because it just flies SO well. And can pull off so many amazing lines.

But the Envy is probably the best of the bunch and the plastics they offer are all the best. The only plastic that can compare in durability, feel and craftsmanship is Kastaplast K1. But I'd give the edge to MVP/Axiom. Durability is outrageous. Feel is amazing. And the gyro rim is magical in the putters and mids. It just makes them fly so much better than any non gyro discs. Just ask James Conrad how good the Envy and any MVP/Axiom throwing putter is ;)

casual 10 year necro bump, lol. Driving putters in premium plastics have come a long way in 10 years. Back then I was throwing Soft Wizards. Switched to ions in 2014. Discovered the Proxy/Envy combo 5-6 years ago and haven't looked back. Shallow rim fits in my hand better. With ions and Wizards I'd catch my finger and shank at least one shot a round.

Currently bag a plasma proxy, old glow proton envy, and a Neutron envy. N Envy is an absolute must. Will occasionally rotate in my thrower watermelon envy for funsies. Also bag an ESP and a Z Zone.

Lest this thread become an envy celebration thread: a great driving putter that doesn't get enough love is the Prodiscus Jokeri

Is it actually US? I feel like the Tui, Proxy, etc (discs with that x/x/-1/0 kind of numbers) are historically HS stable with just minimal fade.

I love the proxy. Feels so good, and flies like a friggin laser. But it is still pretty stable at low speeds.

Guess it sounds like I am looking for something that can turn (not burn) on a good rip and hold a straight line on a low power throw.

Oh, I despise searching for the Goldilocks disc.

I just tried out an AviarX3 yesterday in champion plastic and was pretty impressed. Stable enough to work some different lines both FH and BH but still has enough fade to throw hard.
I had been throwing Sinus, Proxy and tried a few others in that slot over the last couple years and was carrying one for BH and a different mold for FH.

I've got a friend who swears by his Star Mirage but they're pretty hard to come by anymore. He bought an R2 Spin as a backup and seems to be loving it. It's actually the first disc he's bought outside of the Innova manufacturing circle and he liked it enough that he's converted to an open bag.

I'll second the Prodigy 400 Pa4 as a US throwing putter. Definitely a putter, not a mid. Relatively slow and glidey. Something you could play catch with as long as you kept the flip in mind.

Edit: at least the one I have, so YMMV. Mine was green so sometimes tough to see on grass. Got it signed by Will Schusterick and Catrina Allen so I hung it up on the wall. But that's how I remember it flying.

I hear good thing about the Invader as well, feels like a cross between a Judge and Challenger. Straight to OS and offered in 2 different premium plastics as well as base.

Thirded on the 400 PA4, and yes it is actually understable. A particularly stable one might only need a mild hyzer to flip flat but it'll still need a hyzer release

Been throwing a Star Invader for the last few weeks and really liking it.

Don't know if it will last, but do far so good.

Definitely an overlooked mold, I love my old proton Spins.. Stocked up when the oop'd em. R2 is a good plastic real happy with the extra grip. The spin is indispensable in my bag, I tried without it but there's 3 or so holes it will shave strokes off for me in a tourney. Nice to have something semi indestructible that turns out of the box.

Envy of course is the best throwing putter. In all plastics not just premium. :D
