[Innova] Orc love?

Nice to see Orcs getting some love, I've always liked this mold. Many people throwing Destroyers would be better off if they threw Orcs (or Beast X)

Thinking about adding this to the list of discs I need to design a stamp for ;)

I just found my good orc as well! Though I didn't lose it so much as my wife cleaned it up into my for sale pile. Almost sold it as part of a lot!

It's a great disc, but it isn't so different from OLFs that I gotta have backups. It is sweet though, and back in the bag!

Been playing seriously for 5.5 months. Basically Covid season. Picked up a Star Orc 171g about 3 months ago and have regretted it until about a week ago. I knocked off the heinous excess flashing on a piece of 220 grit sandpaper glued to ply board and now the thing is gold. Seems like the bottom is like a Teebird and the top is a Beast? Regardless I love it. I can get about the same distance as my Pro Valkyries, not quite as much as a Wraith, but it is super dependable and won't turn and burn.

My beat-in Orc is a long laser beam that fades reliably at the end. I usually use it for huge hyzer around-the-corner shots that the FD3 won't reach. Orc doesn't glide, but it also doesn't fall out of the sky. Good for low clearance too.

I'm just now getting to the point where I can appreciate a stable to OS driver. "Big" annys that will fight and fade at the end has opened up my game. Just had to knock off that flashing. Already ordered another one cause I wouldn't sleep well if I lost it.

I've been throwing drivers poorly lately which has made me want to disc down for a bit. I pulled my usual Trespasses out of the bag and borrowed a buddy's G* Orc as my sole distance driver. Gotta say, I was impressed. Pretty close to my Trespass distance but in a more direct line. Clearly still longer than my fairway drivers. I'm thinking I may want to grab a small stack of Orcs for times like this when I need to step down in speed. A couple questions:

1. Are all Orcs relatively flat, or is that just a product of the G* plastic? I have found other Innova driver molds mold up noticeably more flat in G* (Wraith and Shryke).

2. I have always been a fan of pairing a Mid 160's Pro and Low 170's Champ or Star for Innova driver molds. Seems to give a good pairing out of the box, and then the Pro beats in quickly from there. Is that a good pairing for Orcs, too? Or would you Orc throwers recommend some other combo if I were to try to bag two?

Thanks in advance!

I can't speak for all that are out there but;
I have 3 G* Orcs and they are all relatively flat.
The only orcs that I have seen that are domed are the stars, but I love them. They are a bit more stable than the G*.

I currently bag a domed star and a flat G*

Perfect info, thanks. Any experience with Champ Orcs? Looks like Innova Factory Store has some F2 Champ Orcs but no Stars.

Sorry, No experience with recent champs.

Haven't had very good luck with the pro, they are relatively flat, but they have zero glide. Not that Orcs are known for their glide, but the pros that I have had are glidless turds.

Also good to know. I may just grab a Champ and G*, and skip the Pro then. Thanks again, Keller

I'd say Orcs tend to be on the flat side regardless of plastic. All the greatest Orcs I've thrown have had at least some dome, though.

Domey Orcs aren't that uncommon.

The mold itself is somewhat underrated. IMO, the Orc is a control/distance driver made for good players who throw fairly hard. Orcs will turn, but not super easily. They do pretty well in varying wind conditions and can definitely be used a workhorse distance driver. Not quite the longest mold out there, but very reliable.

I am definitely jiving with this G* Orc that I'm borrowing. Really wish I knew the weight of it and how beat in it is though. I am seeing some turn if thrown flat. Strongly considering putting in an order for a couple more G* and a Champ as a bookend.

I haven't ever thrown a G* Orc, but I'd imagine they're a little flippier than champion or star.

That's been my experience with Shrykes and Wraiths, so i agree seems like a reasonable expection for G* Orcs to be less overstable.

Pearly PFN Orcs still have value? I have quite a few. Haven't thrown an Orc in years.

Honestly, not really. I see pearly PFN Orcs on FB auctions occasionally, and they don't draw a ton of interest regardless of how nice they are.

Too bad. Absolutely wonderful discs. Old, pearly Orcs are a thing of beauty. The plastic lasts forever without losing stability as well.

You won't get rich trying to sell old Orcs.

Champ orcs were the odd ducks for me. Many champs I've thrown were actually pretty flippy (for their weight and wear). Flippier than the 2-3 gstar I've thrown. Stars compared normally to the gstar though (i.e. stars were beefier).

Are Orcs OOP? I've searched all the online stores I can think of and can't find any star orcs.

Champ, DX available in the factory store website under "full production" and Pro, G* available as "limited". They may do a star run someday but they seem to have other priorities right now.
