I've been meaning to ask this question, but just now remembered it.Yeah I feel bad.

This guy that owns a Local Disc Golf/Ski Shop has been having some trouble selling discs this season. He said disc sales were down from last year so I come to you guys who may know more about this than me.

He said he plans on carrying more companies next year, which gave me this idea in hopes to lend a helping hand.

Out of all the big name companies now(most popular) which 6 discs do you think are the best sellers and would be a staple in bringing in more sales for this guy.It doesn't have to be just 6,if you guys can think of more it would be a big help.

I know this is a lot to ask and to those who post I thank you kindly.

Discraft's #1 has got to be the Buzzz. Not sure how they rank in terms of most sold, but other popular molds are:

Nuke
Force
Comet
Challenger
Zone

As for Innova, I'd say the Roc is their #1, maybe the Aviar. Then you've got:

TeeBird
Leopard
Rhyno
And maybe the Destroyer?

Last edited:
Innova- aviar, roc, teebird, eagle, leopard, newest wide rimmed driver
discraft- buzzz, magnet, challenger,
gateway- wizard
mvp- ion
lat 64- pure, fuse, river
Discmania- PD, MD2, P2?
Millennium- Omega, JLS, OLF, Aurora MS
that's a start

If you're trying to increase sales, discs like the boss, destroyer, katana and nuke are the way to go. Chuckers and new players buy a lot more plastic than experienced players and the high speed drivers sell like crazy to that population.

I didn't think of that.

I'll keep this in mind.

And be sure to tell people that they need those high-speed drivers if they want to get maximum distance!

It's unfortunate, but he's right - that's why so many of those discs sell. :\

FWIW, I do recommend stocking a good lineup of beginner friendly putters, mids and slow drivers (magnets, aviars, sharks, meteors, leopards, xpresses etc.) and recommending those to new players who come in, but the fast plastic is going to turn over a lot quicker. The blizzard stuff is flying off the shelves at the couple stores I've visited recently.

Discaft:
Buzzz
Nuke
Drone
Wasp
Comet
Challenger

Innova:
Aviar
Roc
Deatroyer

I'm going to assume that he already has Innova and Discraft. If he is going to expand, he will probably have to go through a U.S. distributor for Lat/Westside Discs; i.e. gottagogottathrow, discnation, etc. By doing this, he will also be able to select from other companies and will probably want to pick up his MVP, Legacy, and Discmania from the same distributor.

As far as what molds will sell...

Innova-

#1 - Latest high-speed release gimmick
#2 - Teebird
#3 - Roc
#4 - Katana
#5 - Wraith
#6 - Destroyer

Discraft -

#1 - Buzzz (in every plastic of course!)
#2 - Soft Focus
#3 - Nuke
#4 - Avenger
#5 - SS variants of Nuke/Avenger/Buzzz
#6 - Challenger

Latitude 64/Westside -

#1 - River
#2 - Saint
#3 - Fuse
#4 - Pure
#5 - Warship
#6 - Sword
#7 - ^ those should get him started

MVP -

#1 - Ion
#2 - Axis
#3 - Anode
#4 - Vector
#5 - Volt
#6 - stay tuned

Legacy -

#1 - Rampage
#2 - Cannon
#3 - Ghost
#4 - Clozer
#5 - Clutch
#6 - stay tuned

that should rock him pretty good... although Discmania and Gateway Putters could be tossed into the mix too

Surprised nobody has mentioned the Innova Valkyrie.

It is a top seller at Disc Nation, Discgolfcenter, and Clearwater Disc Golf Store.

Also innova blizzard plastic im sure would help sales

That store needs to lower the prices a bit and sell a better variety of plastics. They also need to get latitude 64 gold line plastic in. The look of those discs sell themselves. The last time I was in there they were selling star plastic for $18. That eats up a $20 by the time you add TN tax to it. they also need a small x out section for people who are on the fence about trying a new mold.

I'm of the opinion that most casual players will buy whatever is available considering how many lost discs I find on the course that I can tell are old school DX Innova molds from Wal-Mart.

disc golf center's top Innova sellers are-
Boss, Katana, Wraith, Valkyrie, Destroyer, and Dominator

Discraft's are
Buzzz, Nuke, wasp, and force.

At least that's what the column on the right side of the homepage tells me.

discgolfcenter.com list the top sellers at the far right of their home page. The top of the list is usually dominated by the latest thing from Innova. Some of the mainstays include the Buzzz, Roc Beast, Sidewinder, Leopard, Teebird, Wraith, Destroyer, and Nuke. If you look at it now it includes the Wasp and Force that are usually not on there, but are now since Ti just came out.

Checking that periodically would give him a good idea of what is currently the hot sellers.
