Discs you were disappointed with

Mine was a beast. I bought it right when it came out ("Next New Thing"), and it just was quite uncontrollable for me compared to my teebirds and CE valk's at the time. I've heard the mold has changed, but it is a disc that won't ever get another chance for me. Just didn't fit my way of throwing as well as other discs.

Really? Especially the early Beasts? That is the most controllable driver in my bag with no doubt! You sir are the first person I've ever heard say that about the early molds, which are in my opinion MUCH better than the newer ones. On a side note, I would have to say that these are my disappointments:

12x Pearly Firebird (absolute meathook, like my FR Flick better)
MVP Volt (just not as thrilled as others)
MVP Vector (Not as overstable as I hoped)

Nuke OS: Talk about crazy stupid over stability. It's a modern day Xtreme (another disc I found useless)
All MVP: I've thrown them all, I really do not see what the hype is about. They do nothing better then any other disc when thrown correctly. Talk about being hyped up by a bunch of fan boys.

I could go on and on with this list but I feel that these have been the most disappointing to me as of late.

This is just turning into a:

1) I don't like ______
2) What!? The ______ is great! You just are dumb or have bad form.
1)No I'm a pro, that disc is junk
2) blah blah fanboy jazz blah blah you're wrong!
1) I've been playing DG longer than you!
2) Your mother!

It's funny...Whatever your favorite disc is, it has disappointed someone.

Each person is different, plus you got fanboys of certain brands so some people are going to be biased. Luckily, I like all discs. Even if they disappoint me, I still try to throw em until I can figure em out.

I'd say the Climo stamped star wraith that I bought a couple months ago. Lost a Star Wraith that I loved and an Estar wraith that I loved, but this one is just stupidly overstable compared to those two.

Yeah...This thread seems more about expectations than the discs themselves. Perhaps the #1 false expectation is that buying a disc can make you a better golfer.:D

Never really been disappointed by a disc but disappointed by how I threw the disc. The newest ace race disc is the one I can think of off the top of my head. you people who hate rivers are crazy though that's the sweetest flying fairway driver ever made. :D

Before I discovered this site, I was learning about disc speed, not understanding at all that I didn't have the arm for a speed 13 disc. I just thought it meant, "this disc will go farthest."

I bought a used 175 Champion Ape, and couldn't believe it after throwing a few meathooks how little distance I could muster.

Now I know, it wasn't the disc, it was my rubber arm, but I was disappointed at the time.

.
Next would be my vibrams. My ascent is like a crappy teebird and my trak is too flippy to even throw. I still bag my trak cause I love it for shorter thumbers and t-hawks.
I thought I was the only one whose traks were flippy. Theyre either sidearm rollers or they have a change of heart and become more overstable than my teebird. Probably some fault of technique but its a layer of incovenience I dont need

Lol, true enough. I'm still on the hunt for a putter that fits my hand well and flies like I feel a putter should. I've bought a lot of discs with that mentality. I'm glad it's over.

This is not a troll. I'm being 100% serious here:

Teebird. I got a beat Star Teebird and the thing is a meathook. I keep it in the bag and bring it out occasionally, but it just doesn't do it for me. Part of me thinks it's a form flaw more than anything because I've gotten longer, more accurate drives with it in field work, but when a disc works 5% of the time and other discs work 90% I think the disc qualifies as a disappointment.

Opto Pure. I had a Grip Pure that was absolutely perfect for shots between my Ion and Buzzz, but the Opto just doesn't fly the same. I'm finally dialing this disc in and falling in love with it, but it is one of the most understable discs I've ever thrown. I had serious OAT issues at the beginning, but even since I started working on them that disc turns over more than anything not called:

Fuse. Holy crap. My first day out with it I thought it was the greatest mid I'd ever thrown. It made me want to retire my Buzzz. I could early release it right at whatever obstacle I was trying to get around and it would turn at just the right moment and glide for another mile or so... Then I just lost the feel for it, and it's just a roller. I can't do anything with it. I can throw a round with just a Fuse and a Comet and control the Comet like it's on a string, but the Fuse just turns over and rolls towards whatever rough or water is closest.

I'm going to stop there. I know I have form flaws, and I'm working on those, but that doesn't mean I love the discs I just mentioned. The Pure is gaining my confidence though... Slowly.

hmm not too many that i didnt like.. well maybe a few but hell im sure they were way too much disc for my arm anyway so not their fault lol .. but the ION is on my list for sure.. to be fair i dont really like premi plastic putters anyway but just never clicked for me.. other then that only others i can really think of would be the Stalker and Coyote..

Lost my older flat DX Teebird, bought a new DX replacement. Completely different disc. Domey, unpredictable garbage. I don't even throw Teebirds anymore because of it. DAMN YOU INNOVA!!!

I have an old one I bought used, and I've learned to trust this disc to deliver straight shots when I need 'em. Sorry to hear they no longer behave that way....

Another "it's me and not the disc": the Leopard. I've tried it several times, and it's just never clicked for me.

I just ordered a Test Run River to try out; hopefully I'll be one of those for whom it does click.

For me it's the River. Just wasn't overwhelmed. Couldn't beat my Leopards. If you wanna work out a trade I have a few Rivers I'd trade for some Leos.
