Rank em: Top 10 most overstable drivers

New Run of flat firebirds would top my list.
The D1 should not be on this list, its not really overstable, just stable.

I've never seen a firebird come close to a max weight champ ape or a westside Giant. 20+ years playing combined between you 2 and you haven't tried anything more OS than a 12x FB?

I just laugh at this, an ape flips into a headwind almost every time. If there is no wind they are nice but you put that thing in a headwind and it just rolls, which is why I only used one for about a month before it could not be trusted anymore.

Could you give us your top 5 or 10? Most of us will never throw 500'+ so it is a rare opportunity to get an opinion from someone that can. And you also have to understand that most of us can't get a disc like the Ape up to speed so it seems VERY overstable to us.

Thanks Matt.

I really havent found a Distance Driver yet that will hold up 100% into a headwind. X Cals, SDS Destroyers, D1's are all overstable in a no wind situation but with a head wind they fly like wraith with no wind.
But I have always thrown Firebirds and I havent really ever switched from them for my overstable duties.

A recent run of stiff pearly flat topped 12x firebirds. The one I have is silly OS, can't use it for anything besides spikes and overhand shots.

Not all Firebirds - most people are talking about the 'Kenny-circle' stamp 12x FLAT ones. They aren't flying 9/3/0/4 - more like 9/3/1/5 ... extreme amounts of overstability.

Firebird is MORE OS than an XCAL?

Nobody will believe this until you throw one for yourself, but there's now a freaky overstable disc from millenium - the most recent run of astra came out with a wing that cooled into the plus configuration, and this disc flies verrry OS. Its like a faster firebird, way waay beefy. Millenium will likely re-name this the astra x or astra+ soon, because its absolutely nothing like an astra in flight.

here's a list from my experience, ignoring speed and not counting the mutant astra

1 Nuke OS
2 S-pd2
3 Max
4 Giant
5 Firebird
6 Flick
7 XXX
8 Ape
9 Xcal
10 Force

never thrown a viper or whippet
I have not found apes to be as beefy as advertised, yet I love the way they fly.

Innova thrower here....

My top 5...

1) Champion CFR Viper. Most overstable, but basically useless for any distance. Thrown with max anhyzer, it comes out of your hand with a 20% hyzer angle, flies left immediately, probably going to land behind you. Wind rating: Mt. Washington.
2) Champion Whippet. Similar, but more throwable, not that fast, won't fly Distance Driver far. Excellent thumber disc for those who can throw thumbers well. Wind rating: Oklahoma.
3) Champion Monster. New, these are amazing discs that you can throw flat into a headwind, or on a high hyzer to knife down (I use one for the bamboo hole at Winthrop, and go over the bamboo knifing to the pole. Wind rating: Gentlemans Club Classic.
4) Champion Firebird: The new flat top ones seem to be the most stable. They are nice, but I use my Monster for the majority of these shots. Wind rating: Final round of USDGC.
5) Those really overstable Destroyers: I just put a bottom stamp Destroyer in my bag for Florida. This is a fierce wind fighter, but also about as fast as a driver gets too. Crush it into a fierce headwind if you are looking for distance, but need to finish left. Wind rating: Fountain Hills
6) XCaliber: This is my go-to Wind driver. I don't regularly play in a lot of wind, but I can throw this for controlled flat shots into the wind at 75% power or force it into the wind with a little hyzer at closer to 100%. Very predictable, with a nice skip if you keep it low or a good dig in if you throw it high. Mine is an Echo XCal. Wind rating: Florida

That's my personal list. 1000 rated player approved.

From what I have thrown I'd go....

1. Nuke OS
2. Proto Ape
3. Max
4. 11x Firechickens
5. XXX
6. Nuke
7. CFR Destroyers

I am sure I missd something, but this is from what I have had in my hands the last year or so.

I'm sorry but if you dont have a xXx on your list your list is not correct. And the whole argument about which run of firebirds goes where on the list is the reason I stopped throwing Innova, you have read the Innova encyclopedia, which oh btw doesn't exist, to know what disc you need to buy. Yes there are inconsistencies between runs but the fact that you can buy two discs that say firebird, or eagle, or starfire ect and get two different molds is just unacceptable to me. For this reason my list takes into account the average disc for the mold named, every company has different plastics that affect stability so that will be ignored.

1. Nuke OS
2. xXx
3. Viper
4. Flick
5. Giant
6. Ape
7. Speed Demon
8. Firebird
9. Villain
10. Honorable Mention or not familiar enough to comment on: Monster, Xcal, Banshee, D1 (the ones the the pros were given to sell early on were soooo beefy, other than that not so much), Pred, Max, Force. . . .

1. Z Xtreme
2. Z nuke OS
3. 12x firebird
4. Champ glow whippet X
5. Z Flick
6. Xcaliber
7. 08 worlds drone
8. Predator
9. XXX
10. Graboid
