Let's say you have a 10,000' wooded course with 2 tees and 2 pins on every hole. You get a chance to add either 9 more holes just like you have bringing the total to a 15,000'+ 27 holes course with 2 tees and 2 pins on every hole or add another 7,000' 18 hole ultra technical course on the property. The new 18 hole course would only have 1 tee and 1 basket per hole. On the current course the longest layout is the most used. Any input?

Two courses would always pull more players even if it were an 18 and a 9 instead of 27. So two 18s would probably be better.

i gotta go two courses. 7000' is still a very respectable length and properties with dual courses are great. Is this purely theoretical or are you actually in a position to decide between these awesome possibilities?

I'd go with the 2 18 option, it's better for running bigger events and provides a nice contrast if you have a bigger course and a shorter more technical course.

Definitely a more technical 18. Adds some variety and thus more appeal to a wider range of players.

A 10,000' 18 is a monster to begin with. There's no need to have an added 9. I can't imagine many players even wanting to play a full 27 at that length.

Bingo.

I want a 27 hole monster that destroys my ego and forces me to step my game up. Im sure if i wanted a pitch/putt/technical course there would be one nearby i can play when i want a break. I would love to seea huge monster course.

I like the idea of 2 18's. After an 18 hole round I am usually ready to sit for a few minutes. 27 hole courses get to be a grind.

Doing the math: 2 x 18 = more visitors and more fun. You can choose between, or play both!

Guess they don't make em like us anymore :D Besides they're are plenty of technical courses & not enough monsters. I wanna test my game as a whole not just my accuracy. Also when people get done with the course do you want them to say "Good course." or "Holy **** that was a beast of a course!....I'd go with the latter.

27 @Iron Hill ? A national treasure !

I'm going against the grain,27 hole monster all day long. There are just not that many 10,000' wooded courses, so I would stick with the existing format, especially if the longest layout is the most used. 9 holes with two pads and two baskets is the equivalent of 36 holes anyway...more golf than 18.

This is in fact all theoretical, right now. I'm not even sure what the park would even go for. The problem I see with the second 18 is a lack of play. We have 2 standard 18 hole Par 54 courses within 15 minutes of us and 5 more within 30 minutes. When anyone comes here they want to play the long course, no matter their skill level. For tournaments I was thinking 27 holes a day. 5-10 minute breaks at the end of each 9. The Par would be 108.

Course in michigan called leviathan that beat the hell out of me, demanded a long tight drive on almost every hole, it was so satisfying to get a par! I will never ever forget that course. I have played 55 or so courses and they all kinda blend together until u ask about leviathan. Give me 9 more holes on that course and it will be hard to dream about any other course.
