Idlewild = 1 star?

It's a little too coincidental that prior to this 1 star review, Idlewild had 52 reviews and a 4.88 rating while Flip City had 53 reviews and a 4.89 review. If Idlewild had gotten 1 more 5 star review, it would have tied FC for first place. Hmmmmmmmmm.

the next lowest review is a 3. This guy had a bad game and took it out on the course.
(nerd math warning) In Statistics scores over 3 standard deviations above or below the mean are often deleted as "outlyers". If Tim G removed the review, it was probably because he knew this was a bogus review.
Tim G is from Rochester if he was going to manipulate scores it would be to help out the Western New York courses not Kentucky

Seemed like someone was just angry that they had to look for a disc or the course was just well beyond the play level of this person. It was full of poor grammar, spelling, extensive USE OF CAPS AND !!!!!!'s. If it was well written rather than what seemed like the rantings of an angry golfer I would have left it.

Also, for the record, I couldn't care less which course is #1, #2, etc. They're all good. I've played Flip and Idlewild and they are both amazing courses and both deserve to be #1 (if that were possible). I very, very rarely remove a review, I've probably removed less than 10 since the site started. It's a case by case basis thing based completely on the review itself and not it's effect on the course average. I guess I could have left that one but it was clearly a case of a bad game rather then a bad course.

every time someone would drive hundreds of miles to play idlewild and would give it a 5, within about an hour or 2 a few 1 line 5 disc reviews would pop up for flip city. then we called them out on it and they changed their method. For the last few months the new method is a new person will join the website and will review idlewild and give it a 4 or a 4 1/2. they will also review a couple of other courses to make it look good, as idlewild will have the highest rank of their 2 or 3 reviewed. even though it is a 4 or 4 1/2 it still brings idlewilds average down without looking like a blatent attack like this 1 disc DB did. Both of these courses are epic courses obviously. And to defend the local legit flippies like Tom Julio: Tom said these people anger him. He prob thinks that these people make us question whether or not Flip City is over rated. They kind of do but all you have to do is read the out of state reviews and of course trusted reviewers opinions. Idlewild has some 1 line 5 disc local yocal reviews also, just not as many as Flip. So they both have them and here we are. I personally applaud the fact that the review was yanked as it is obvious that it was not legit, not even close. I am waiting for the Bryant lake locals to make it a 3 course duel.

yep, I found one. I just looked for the review with the most misspellings, horrible grammar, insults, CAPS LOCK, and lots of !!!!

The sad part is I bet this guy did this review to get us talking and here we are on page 2 of a forum about him

I have no argument that this review was not bogus. My question/observation is that there are probably plenty of bogus 5 star reviews. Will/are those handled in a similar manner.

I think these ratings wars are fun for a handful of people and are amusing to watch (at least for me), but do not serve the intent of this site. I would just as soon see this form of spam stopped.

True - it's really annoying, but look on the bright side. At least people feel passionate enough about a course to fight for it. That means no matter which one is #1, they're both amazing.

What exactly do they win? And is it worth corrupting the data for?

As someone whose never played either course, I'm sure they're both nice, but judging just from reading the reviews on them, I wouldn't say either one is perfect.

In fact I'd say some degree of the five star reviews are the result of hype. I'd really like to know the opinions of experienced players who have never heard of DGCR and don't know anything about the Flip vs. Idlewild feud on here.
