I'm looking for a stable to overstable midrange to compliment my worn out buzzz. Do you guys use a roc or something else for that slot in the bag?

icon ghost. If i were you I'd get a flat Z wasp though. great disc

I use a Tensor, I find it a little more overstable than either of those two molds, but still has much more glide than a Gator or Drone. I think its the perfect combination of overstability and glide for this slot.

I might be leaning towards the tensor or wasp, but I'll hold them at the shop and see how they feel. I like discs that glide a ton.

I love my board flat, max weight z wasp for this exact reason. My wasp is more overstable than any roc3 I've thrown, less overstable than most z hornets, and more comfortable to me than domey star rancho rocs. I really like the stability of mine, I don't want any more or less right now.

Roc3's aren't OS, even for Rocs. Wasps compare better to KC Pro or Star Ranchos, but even then they've both got things about them that make them unique.

Roc3 is more like a Buzz than Wasp.

I just have a newish max weight Z Buzzz. It won't turn on me and fades out gently. If I need something crazy overstable, I just throw my Zone. Usually, though, I can just get by hyzering that Buzzz.

Haven't thrown enough of either to give a thorough comparison. I would advise Wasp because Discraft tends to be more consistent.

if you throw a buzzz, you want a wasp
they feel the same in hand, a roc feels different/thicker
i just replaced my wasp with another wasp after trying/feeling/fondling everything else

Also, if you like the Buzzz feel instead of the Roc feel, you might want to check out the Hornet, Verdict, or Nebula.

I throw a KC pro Roc which really isn't that stable, diff disc then a wasp, room for both. Although I recently switched to a Truth/Verdict combo and couldn't be happier.

I LOVE Z-Wasps, but look for the flat Z's!

The only Z I bag right now is old Z's that were reliably flat. but the new Cryztal run were all very flat, and most Ti's are flat and fly great (baby blue and Raspberry Ti's are my favorite)

If they're more consistent, it only by a fraction. Of the few buzzes that I've thrown, their stability varies just about as much as the rocs I throw. This is just a really good marketing ploy by DC. They're no more constant than any other manufacturer. /thread drift.

To the OP: I would suggest you get familiar with the roc. You said you like glide; a seasoned roc will fly forever. Even an overstable roc will have good glide I suggest a nice KC Pro Roc at 180 G. Work it in, ny the time it has lost its stability, you'll have a really good understanding of how it's going to fly. But that again, is a cycle state of mind.

To elaborate on what I said before, the only reason I only bag old Z's is because I have a pile of them. New Z's can still be readily found that are great fliers, my buddy throws all new Z's and as long as you pick out flat ones they fly just as great as old Z's.

Here's how I see it:

A Wasp is pretty much a Wasp. there haven't been a million variations of it (yet?) so you know what you're getting into when you ar elooking for the type of disc that the Wasp/Roc fit.

But the variations/diversity of Rocs is what makes them appeal to me. I've been playing a long damn time, so I know the intricacies of Rocs, and it doesn't bother me in the slightest...its the appeal. A Roc feels like a Roc, and no one will ever be able to tell me any different. But I know which one's fly different.

It's like Budweiser vs. a craft beer. To the average person, they both taste good and will get you drunk. It takes a borderline obsessive (or aficionado, as we prefer to be called) to grasp all the subtle little differences.
