[Mids] Understable mid?

My only understable midrange disc is a beat dx roc. I throw that or my Leopard for turnover shots right now. BUT...my roc is getting too flippy.

I was wondering what other disc could replace the roc and fly understable right out the getgo?

Preferably something in premium plastic, so it would STAY that way for longer than the dx roc?

I know Roc enthusiasts will say "another roc", but at the moment, I am experimenting with other brands/molds, and do not want to continue cycling my dx rocs, although I love them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tangent. wont be SUPER understable off the shelf but beat that sucker up and its money. wont get flippy only more workable. Best part is just pick one you think looks best-- no real difference from proton, neutron, eclipse or whatever. tangents a tangent once seasoned up.

its everything a fuse wants to be which glides way too much to be an accurate mid, basically a seasoned DX roc being beaded but blunter rim like a comet.

Interesting, I have never thrown an MVP disc. Thanks, I will research it. That might be something I should check out.

its the ONE mvp i would say is very unique and love the fact it has stayed in its same sweet spot now for ever. There was an initial break-in wearing down some of the glossiness to get a little more grip also but im still on the first tangent i owned... sold all the other odd colors and dyed my back up the same brainwaves lol. at this rate it wont be retired for a lonnnnnnnnnng time.

The standards are:
Meteor
Tangent
Fuse
Tursas
Flying Squirrel
Star Atlas

I carry the Flying Squirrel and absolutely love it. It is a little slower and glidier than some of the others so it's a little less apt to fade at slower speeds. None will be the same as a well-seasoned disc like your Roc though.

the fuse is an amazing turnover, imo. it was taken out of the bag when i started throwing comets, because they can do pretty much everything, which are now out of the bag in favor of tangent, which can also do everything except maybe a little bit MORE everything.

tangent. there may be some situations where it won't turn enough for you at first, as AFTC touched on.

Depends on what you want. If you want out of the box flippy, you can't go wrong with a Fuse in the low 170s. Hyzer flips for days, and easy turnovers.

If you want point and shoot that will break into more of a smooth turnover, then the Tangent is a good choice. But don't expect it to turn easily from the start. It is just straight.

An honorable mention goes to the Westside Tursas, which is a bit longer, in my experience, than the Fuse.

are your beat DX rocs flippy or just lose a little HSS?

^this will matter big time which disc will replace that roc.

I have been playing around with a cryztal buzzz, would a buzzz ss be more understable, a comparable disc to a seasoned dx roc?

If you want to try something other than what has been mentioned, you could go with a Lucky from Crosslap. It's the only midrange in my bag. :)

Glides too much! You are a funny guy. Plus a Fuse is not understable when new. OP, maybe try some version of a Stingray. They have always been good, consistnet understable mids. Or maybe a Meteor, but they are possibly a little speed stable depending on how you throw.

I bought a meteor thinking it would be a flip machine and it wasn't. Comet is my US mid of choice. (I've got a big gun, so the speed wasn't the problem. If there is a big disagreement on this discs US, I might have gotten a bad run or something, just relating my experience.)

Understable or disc able to cover up massive form flaws? What are we looking for here?

Heavy star stingray. Star plastic holds it's fight characteristic for long time. The larger diam of stingray make it glide for ever, but might be too understable for some.

Tangent and Tursas

Like people have said before, the Tangent is not very understable to start off but it does have some turn. They work into a wonderful and versatile disc and it has become one of my favorites even though I wasn't sure if I would like it at first.

A Tournament Plastic Tursas is a great disc as well. This disc is very understable and maybe more of what you're looking for. They do glide for days so it is sometimes easy to overshoot your target, but the Tursas will turn right on a flat release whereas the Tangent will go straight and needs more anhyzer to turn.

Everything mentioned here is good, it all comes down to preference.

Plus a Fuse is not understable when new.

little confused here. i've owned several fuses and they were all understable. even my opto, though the max weight opto didn't turn quite as much.

i guess maybe we need to qualify - i own a 176g GL fuse and that thing turns like i remote control it.

OP, it would actually help if you were to tell us exactly what you're looking for. the fuse i use for holes like this one:

e2d0f000.jpg

where i need it to turn and not come back, but not burn. you hit it right and you'll be at the top of the hill on the far right.

so the question is, i guess, are you looking for that kind of shot or just mildly understable? that will probably help us stop making 50 million recommendations.

lol.. i am serious too. Although not sure glide ratings are all that much of a science in general. don't get me wrong i enjoyed the fuse a lot and bagged many of them with my favorite being a +180g domey opto but that glide will F with many shots-- specially once its starts into turn and there is any wind out there'

A domey/heavier fuse def. have more HSS and LSS but once any kind of use (most lat. discs are flashed up pretty bad when new) fuses are turning machines. Not flippy but i cant call the fuse stable nor does lat. 64
