[Dynamic] Classic Truth

Yeah Classic isnt very durable at all, it looks gnarly after any sort of tree hit, chains, basket, wall. It feels great though, will be interested to see how the newest base is whenever it comes out.

I'm getting quite confused with these Trilogy baseline plastics. In the Baseline thread they say that the Prime was introduced because the Classic is too durable. Then I come here and most are saying that the classic beats in very easily and fast.

I have two coming my way so I will have some experience shortly, but do other classic throwers feel there is still a need for even less durable Truth?

I think most people are speaking to the way classic plastic "looks" as it beats in. Very early you will start to see scrapes, dents and other signs of wear. But it takes quite a bit longer for the stability of the discs to be affected by wear.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my classic truth, but putting out a plastic even less durable seemed very odd to me. They should mark the classic plastic down to 8.99 and make a slightly better baseline for that 11.99 spot. Something more KCish.

Anyone have any insight on how the Classic Truth compares to a Gravity or Excel Ghost?

I've thrown tons of Rocs so I should know the basics. Truth is longer, faster and straighter with a bit Less glide. Specially the flat Classics.

I'd like to hear more how the Prime compares to the Classic.

The way I understood it is that they are reworking the classic hard, that's why there haven't been any new runs of the truths. KCish would be perfect :hfive:

This would be a bit dangerous road to take considering how much different (Zero/BT/Classic) Hard plastics are used by the Trilogy players with putter molds. I would hate to see two different blends of Hard just depending on the mold.

Maybe they could come up with a Classic Premium or something like that and leave the hard as it is. :)

I'm expecting my Classic Truths today so I'll finally get some first hand impressions on the plastic. For driving putters it was not ideal as it beat in way too fast, so I'm really curious to see how it holds up on a bit wider rimmed mold like a Truth.

Where did you hear that? That's never been anything I've heard from anyone. There was only a delay on a restock of classic truths because there was so many new releases that had to be done and other stuff to run. It was just a matter of time and then they came. Never been told there was any change coming to classic plastic. I think it might be possible someone told you that and was mistaken that a new plastic (prime) was being done to make some changes to what classic was. That's true. That's out now.

Has anyone fondled the Prime Truths yet? I just placed an order for 2 red ones.

I got one last week. It feels great. Unfortunately there has been too much snow around here lately for me to get out and throw it.

This was my experience from a round I played on Sunday.

I got one as well. Feels fantastic, this may be my favorite feeling plastic, especially for a truth. It feels grippy and velvety just like an old school VooDoo putter I have (I'm not sure the specific gateway blend).

I played a bag tag round in partial rain on Sunday and was extremely impressed. You know how you sometimes can't get all the wetness off of a disc. Even with my gstar destroyer it's still slippery to me after toweling it off with a little condensation still on disc. The prime it didn't matter (as much) and was extremely reliable and grippy even when wet. Once I didn't even wipe it after being in the rain and sitting on wet grass and it did not slip out of my hand in the next throw.

The firmness and grippiness is what I'm impressed with. Fluid plastic is grippy but flexible, same with Gstar. The truth is firm, which I like in flat discs, and super grippy. The exact blend I could have asked for. Very satisfied.

Another thing. I hit a tree, hard. And thought once I went to get my disc it would be changed forever, gouge or nick or dent but definitely something... I can't tell where I even hit the tree on the disc  so for 8.99$ a disc, I'm sold.

my local disc shop carries prime plastic for $8 before tax
I bought a truth and did a little torture testing (aka me throwing it against my wooden retaining wall repeatedly).

They seem to hold up pretty well, much better then current dx, pretty close to old era dx. I'm trying to make it flipptastic so I can carry different truths in different states of wear

I snagged two pinks off of Infinite last week. Only tried out the 172 gram one.

Only had one chance to use them, and conditions were less than ideal.

Lake Nockamixon, 5-6" of snow cover with a crust on top. 11 degrees with 15-20 mph winds. HUGE props to those that shoveled the pads.

Needless to say, pretty much anything not off the tee was a standstill or a one-step type of shot.

I threw it three times off the tee that I could lean into it with decent footing. Nice HSS. Looked like it would want to turn and start to flip a few times but never flipped up more than flat. Had one hyzer shot that got caught up by a L-R wind gust. It air bounced a few times and got pushed around some, but never turned over. Held the hyzer, mostly.

Had an odd LSS compared to my Lucid Truth (177g IIRC). My Lucid, to me, seems to start to fade a bit earlier but more gradually. The old "forward penetrating fade" type of look. The Prime Truth seemed to have more of a dumpy, "ok, I am done flying now" type of fade.

With this limited experience, I think the Lucid and Prime are about as long as each other, they just get there in a slightly different fashion. With some wear this thing seems like it is going to be a laser. Hoping it will beat up enough to pull the Fuse out of my bag.

Low power standstills were similar. Nice and straight if released flat with solid fade. Good glide. Easy D (for a mid) without cranking on it.

Plastic felt GREAT in the snow. Left the bag in the car overnight so the discs were around ambient temp, I find it helps keep the snow from sticking. Had great grip with minimal towel action.

Popped a tree pretty hard about 75' out, very minor ding in the rim. Had a get out of jail shot that I drilled into a tree directly in front of me, it didn't like that so much. Put a nice dent/gouge in the rim and left some bark implanted in the plastic. With that said, I blasted that tree. It held up as good as can be expected I think. Didn't seem to deform the shape and all.

I was impressed with it. Really hoping they beat similar to ROCs, losing LSS first and then getting some turn.

Cool... I was very disappointed with Fluid, but sounds like these will be more agreeable to my fingers.

How are the domes... flat? poppy?

I can snap a pic when I get home if you want, along with the damage from a 5' full power tree blast, LOL.

They molded up very flat and look almost exactly like my Classic Truths did.

For some reason my Classic's kept leaving me (forgot one on the course, a friend lost one, put one in a pond) before they ever got beat in, so I won't be able to draw any comparisons there. Fresh Prime is less beefy vs. fresh Classic though.

I also saw someone bitching about flashing on L64 retro discs. I have no complaints there. Mine have a mark all the way around the rim that looks like they ran them over a belt or drum sander or something to remove any molding lines. The bottoms had some flashing, fairly similar to my Zero Pures (the "sanding" line was about where the flashing on an Opto Pure that people bitch about on the nose).

Here you go, flat as flat can be. Also shows the deflashing I was referring to and what happens when you blast a very close tree full power.
