[Other] Brands That Get No Love But Really Should

Lolz in4d. Legacy gets tons of love so therefore doesn't make the list.

ABC, Prodiscus, and DGA are all solid companies for sure. So are Millennium and Discmania though.

At least he's not blowing Mike C and talking about how great MVP is anymore.

Back on track: I will also toss UB out there. I haven't tried the Monstrum or Lex yet, because no one will stock them! The Procul was a nice flying disc that felt weird in my hand. They do have great plastic blends. But as I pointed out with Prodiscus, great plastic does not a brand make. Hopefully the Monstrum and Lex kick butt and more stores start carrying them...

They also have awesome stamp designs, great soft goods, and superb customer service.

Deity, Yikun, Salient, UB, and Prodiscus all come to mind but I don't think they deserve anymore love. With all these entrepreneurs trying to get into the business I'm going to chose whoever works the hardest to get my money.

I don't think it's really fair to say that very small, brand new companies don't get any love. It's more that nobody knows they exist.

True that, man. I feel like most people who have thrown Crosslap stuff tend to like it.

Till my local tournament got Legacy for players packs most people had never even heard of them.. The disc shops carry mostly Innova here.

We get about 20 people for leagues every week and im the only one who throws Legacy, maybe where you're from Legacy gets a lot of love and everyone is throwing them, but many of tournament/league goers here have never heard of legacy.

You must be basing brand popularity on how many posts are in the DGCR threads? lol..

I'm sure its different everywhere, but here not many know or "love" Legacy.

I carry three out of five ABC discs in my bag, including the flying squirrel, which I used exclusively for my most holes in 24 hour record.

As someone who worked for DiscNation for years and, I imagine, still has close ties to many there, I'll take Zam's opinion over your 20 person sample.

Innova sells over 50% of all golf discs
Disc-tant 2nd for Discraft
Then Lat & MVP fairly equal
then a significant gap, and a grouping of all the regular suspects

So, killing it is relative, in an industry where nobody's really killing it (except patent attorneys). Distribution, saturation, and years repeating A and B. Once you establish longevity you've gotta stay relevant.. most choose to purchase hot young boys.

BTW Lat, Legacy, and MVP are all killing it IMO

For the record, there doesn't seem to be a lot of Legacy in my area either.

Daredevil.

Love the Beaver. I went Beaver mad and bought Marshall Street's last 5, a friend is huge Timberwolf fan, and the couple Wolverines I have will get a chance to make the bag someday.

It does seem like Millenium doesn't get much love where as Discmania seems to have a HUGE circle-jerk surrounding it.

Maybe its their weird ass naming/numbering. Maybe its because the only notable 'pro' in recent memory that throws one of their discs is Brinster.

It just seems that they should be waaaaay more popular considering their connections and length of time in the industry.

Legacy isn't popular here in the Mid Atlantic either. MVP is out in full effect and it seems like it's the plastic of choice with the younger guys. Prodigy is starting to get a following as well.

Aerobie. Best shortrange FH putter there is.

But Aerobie doesn't make the Zone...

Seriously, though, Little Flyer makes the Maximizer and Optimizer. The Maximizer is a good understable fairway driver, and the Optimizer is the most fun, flippiest disc on the market, and a great disc for kids or weenie arms.

its interesting how fast DD caught on as a brand, with or without the Trilogy association. There is more DD here locally than Lat and Westside combined and we never ran an event exclusive to their product.

Actually yeah. I was more observing the DGCR side of things.

I agree with the lack of Millennium love, I know it's basically just Innova molds retooled but I never see anyone else throwing them.

Also, Salient isn't bad but gets a lot of hate with little defense. I like their plastic blends a lot so far.

Millennium is cool stuff. I bag a beat to snot QJLS that I bought used at PIAS (good distance on a hyzer flip), a M Polaris LS (effortless "stand and deliver" fairway throws) and my putting putter is an Omega SS (money).

I disliked Legacy at first, bc they had only fast higher speed drivers. Once the Rival, Patriot and Gauge hit the market, I changed my mind.

I think they need more love for their plastic and discs.
