With all the new plastics and different marketing ideas which have come out since the debut of the flying disc-- How do you believe it will evolve further or wish to see in the coming years?

GPS enabled/lighted/revised PDGA specs for unique molds and so on have been discussed separately but curious to hear what the DGCR crowd has to say about what they would want to see which no one else has done yet.

Personally I feel there are unique designs and ideas which have not even been thought of and maybe you have the next big one?! Probably not... :p

Lets hear it!

MVP's gyro tech which you all might know I am sold on-- Discs like g* from innova and the salient Prometheus or kerplast rask?SP are all up for discussion.

How do manufatures further the disc technology?

My guess is the rule allowing embedded items will encourage manufacturers to use the weights to counterbalance discs like pennies on a fan, making them more forgiving and stable. Then like bowling, you can customize the weights locations to tweak the flight and like golf, fix the club instead of the swing. This could go a step further with areas on the disc itself that when held in certain spots, will encourage different dynamics and increase the disc's versatility.

Thought of another idea: A ring of metal embedded around the rim that has movable weights that run along the ring that you can loosen and lock in different spots for different shots.

I wish discs had something in/on them so that I could track them in the rough. I play really conservatively because I can't stand losing a disc and my game might change because of this innovation.

What about a disc the diameter of a 45 record? You could probably tomahawk it really easy or overhand flip it pretty far.
Or a disc that encourages straight rolling?
So instead of this ( ) it'd be more like ) (

I want a magnet built into my putter. But on a serious note, I could see GPS embedded devices that could calculate distance and or throw speed. Also make I easier to find.

An accellerometer would be pretty sweet too.

I want a saw blade disc for trimming some trees!

Seriously. Any course in cedar hill could use this.

I also want a groove remake. I know it failed but just something with a different kind of rim. Maybe a zig zag groove in the rim.

Better floating discs. Or better retrievers.

Embedded LEDs should be easy.

RFID devices (probably passive) to aide with finding discs.

Magic discs that add 150 ft for us noodle arms

The new thing in golf is adjustable drivers so why not adjustable discs. Weights that you can change or move. If not a disc that can have a laser beam to chop down some branches that get in the way.

In discs I think ways to increase the speed without making the rim bigger will be one of the next big things. The Rask isn't an awesome disc but I think it represents a good direction, a and a good direction of thinking.

The main thing I'd really like to see is a big change in baskets. A smaller basket with fantastic chains would be ideal IMO. It would be less forgiving but more rewarding if you hit the shot.

A specially-designed gummy pad on the underside of the flightplate...

When you throw it, the bulk of the pad stretches to the outer rim. As it slows down in flight, the pad relaxes and the moment of inertia lessens.

In other news, I'd like to see an Oculus Rift program that turns any practice field into Blue Ribbon Pines.

How about networking discs?

Tell your discs your entering Long Drive or CTP mode with 3 other players and their smartdiscs. The person whose disc is the furthest/closest flashes until another disc beats it.

Never again worry about asking, "Am I out?" - The person whose disc is furthest from the pin flashes. (Two or more discs touching each other, such as in a bag, will cancel each other out; so the computer knows which discs are actually in play)

How about smart minis?

The "stamp" on the mini could always display: the remaining footage to the pin, wind velocity, hole map with current player/disc locations marked, the name of the current player's turn, the e-scorecard, a virtual caddy, etc.
