Hi all,

I'm sure many if you have seen the classic 93 worlds video on YouTube. I can't get enogh of it! Anyway, I've been wondering a few things. First, what would a good disc golf bag have in it at that point in time (mid 1993)? I can't help but wonder what each disc being thrown actually is!

Secondly, does anyone know what discs john brooks threw? I know he used only 3 or 4 but did amazing things with them!

I recall Crazy John throwing an Aviar, two Rocs and a Viper late in the 90's. I remember that because he had a KC Pro Viper and wrote "CRAZY" in sharpie over the Climo signature.

If you want to stick with Innova only and 93 and back...

Aero, Aviar, XD, Coupe, Ace, Roc, Hammer, Stingray, Phenix, Cobra, Shark, Scorpion, Barracuda, Lynx, Viper, Hammerhead, Condor, Jaguar, Birdie, Zephyr, Whippet, Piranha, Griffin, Panther

Thanks for the info guys! I do roll a condor and love it! Playing with these old discs is fun, and I have several of those in the bag right now! I'm thinking a setup like this would cover a lot of bases back then: a viper for max distance, roc as main driver, stingray for backhand rollers and anhyzer drives, classic aviar (I much prefer this one to the p and a for some reason) for putt and approach shots, a condor for thumb/ short forehand rollers and finally a whippet for extreme heafwind drives, longer forehand rollers and overheads. Sounds like a fun setup to me!

I throw with a guy locally that has a cycle of 6 Hammers in his bag...and he can make them do just about whatever he wants.

I keep picturing Thor looking down at his lone hammer, unable to fully look back up, and feeling inadequate.

I'd include a Whippet.

And a gazelle.
Fun Fact: People today looks at what was out for drivers in the late 90's and assume we threw Whippets and Gazelles since they seem like the best drivers that were out then.

It's not true. We threw Vipers. Lots and lots of Vipers. I bet Innova sold ten Vipers for every Gazelle it sold in the late 90's.

I could see a viper being a go to for advanced players as it beefy and can handle some snap. Plus, the champ was hucking a viper! Don't see too many vipers on the course these days. I pulled one out of the lake while fishing for my favorite roc and gave it a rip. It flew just like a rock. Yah had about as much glide as a R,O,C,K! ;)

Big arms could probably flex them out for huge (at that time) distance.

I love that video of k$ and Paul huckin the "classics ". I think it's funny how people talk about today's discs being so far advanced in technology . Same stuff, just faster and more over stable discs available if you have the arm to make use of it. And more selection to find something that fits your game. I also hate it that stuff from the 90s is now classic........my knees and back remind of the fact that I have become a classic daily!

What is huge golf distance these days vs back in the old days? I understand that the earliest days didn't have the speed and stability of the classics of the 90s..... But Looked like Paul crushed that high speed 6 gazelle about 450 on a anny flex line. I would think that's still a respectable drive? How far you throwing those destroyers on golf lines Paul?

Check out this old school driver I recently acquired .......it's pre flight number, but I would rate it at about .5, 14, -20, -10.

For Discraft throwers there were a lot of X-Clone/Cyclone combos in the early 90s...
As a lefty I would break the X over to the left and let the Cyclone hyzer back to the right...
I just bought a couple of Cyclones this month after not having one in my bag since the mid '90s. Now they need to revisit the X-Clone.
