I don't get mad, just a little annoyed. Then I remember that them saying something doesn't necessarily have anything to do with that invisible tree I just hit.

Me, too.

Especially since I used to say it all the time, until I realized just how stupid it was. Occasionally I'll hear this after a really bad shot and can't stop myself from commenting, "I certainly hope not" or "I thought you intended to throw into the swamp" or something.

Ya I wish I could stop saying "Man if only that tree wasn't there". Which leads to the other thing I'm tired of hearing...the sick, dull thud of a disc hitting a tree haha.
