leo all day.

hell even a combo of champ, pro and dx would be great for a beginners first cycle

We have already started noobs on the 2014 Ace Race disc (will be called "The Heat", I believe for production runs), and it seems to work well for a 1st driver. Any stable to slightly understable disc should be a good place to start.

MVP Switch. More control than a Leo, and quite workable for noobs and pros alike.

mine first driver was a dx leopard.

I voted for a teebird because the odds are if you begin to get a little serious about DG, overstable drivers and mid ranges will part of you disc line up.

after reading the How to Build a Bag thread, and being a newer player I really see the logic in going with a mostly stable to overstable starting bag. The learning curve is a lot shorter going that way - because a bag lineup of lets say a KC Pro avair, Roc, Teebird , and a firebird will all have consistently the same form with your throws.

I went the leopard then valkyrie route (with my putter being a dart, midrange a comet and a spider) and it was very difficult learning how to throw stable/overstable drivers where even DX tee birds were meathooks for me. The leopard eventually needs a lot of nose up angle to produce distance.

Ya, I agree with these points about developing your game. I started with a Truth, and a Star Lite sidewinder, then quickly picked up a Leo. What's nice about the Leo is it accommodates those technical things all noobs suffer from (nose up/Hyzer releases) it allows you to get more distance without the best form, and prepares you for other discs. Example, I still bag the Truth, and a max weight sidewinder. I no longer bag a Leopard.

Thanks. Good points.

I voted leopard. I still use them. XL is another good option.

Pro Leopard beats in fast and helps with accuracy when learning to throw tunnel shots

I voted Eagle. I've never been much into the leopards. For a distance driver I'd say a valkyrie and mid would be a buzzzz. If I had only one disc in my bag to play I'd use either an Eagle or an XL.

My first driver was a 150 cheetah, and I feel it suited me better than a leopard I tried later on. I thought about voting teebird just because do many recommended it to me, but I feel there's too much variance in all of the different molds and plastics. I always recommend an XL as imo the perfect beginner driver, but that wasn't on the list.

I picked the diamond because of the extra glide. I still use it for tunnel shots with about 50% power.

Ya, there were a few after thoughts I wish I put on. XL, Cheetah, FD, Patriot.

I think a leopard or a diamond are great choices. I do see a lot of new players with a groove or a nuke as there first disc.
