Anyone ever run into a certain driver that is a total freak? By that I mean that it exceeds expectations so dramatically that its shocking.

Mine was a Z Surge with the thumb grip pad. I have no clue why this disc was so good, but it was. I'd say I got better distance out of it than any other Surge I've ever thrown and many of today's top drivers. It was a perfect blend of glide, dome and it didn't have too much high speed turn or late fade. This disc was a really stiff blend of Z plastic and had a big dome. Without question the best driver I've ever thrown overall. I don't have it in the bag anymore, but I still own it. I've had a couple Star Destroyers and one CFR Augusta Wraith that were close to this, but not quite like the thumb grip Surge.

Anyone else have any drivers that perform freakishly over expectations?

The one disc that blew me away was the MVP Inertia. I knew it would be good, but just how much I enjoyed that disc from day one was surprising. I never thought a disc could replace my former favorite driver (Amp), but it did.

whenever i throw drivers they fly like 100 feets and then crash to the left. unless i chuck them and then they fly way right. i thought the drivers were to fly far but IDK.

I have a flat Z Flash that flies more like a longer predator than anything else. It will hold into almost any headwind.

Not so much as an "OMFG that flew for forever" disc, but the Discmania FD2 exceeded all expectations. It's gotta be the easiest throwing disc I have. Makes me want to try out more and more Discmania stuff.

I have come across freak discs but usually in the underwhelming end of the spectrum. I have a king that I can throw on a steep hyzer, high and have it flip all the way to a roller. Back way off on it, like I am throwing a 150 dx leopard it will fly.

A few years ago I found a DX beast. The next day I was doing field work and put it with the rest of my drivers in a pile. At the time my max distance was about 275. I threw all my drivers and they were all right around the 275 mark. I grabbed the beat up DX beast and it just glided forever and landed about 325. By far my furthest throw at the time. I picked up all my discs and threw them all again, and again the beat beast flew 50 feet further.

I used it for a few months until it got too flippy. I tried beasts in all the plastics but none could soar like that perfectly seasoned one.

I have a first run D4 that is more Overstable than it should be, flies more like a Nuke than the Katana it's often comparied to.

For me it was the Z Flick. Truly an overstable freek of nature. And yet I have learned to throw it on all kinds of lines, except of course an anny. In the summer this ancient noodle arm gets over 300 accurate feet with it. 4 of my 6 Aces were made with a Flick.

I have a 167g tye dye Groove that doesn't suck. I haven't thrown it in a while, but it still might be my longest driver.

Pretty sure the OP was talking about one particular disc that is freakishly good even over other discs of that same mold, not what mold you like the most...
