When did you figure out you had enough of all the new discs?

Yeah, I've had my share of unique disc searches, the never ending search for better plastic and the chase for the best driver and all that, but, I think I've finally hit my threshold.

I've been out of town and made a point of hitting a few shops with my list of "new" discs to search out. Went yesterday, made notes, came back to my hotel, did a bunch of research and then went back to the shop to fondle all my new pick ideas. Finally said screw it, I walked away with a DX Cobra, an X-Comet and a used (almost new) Star San Marino Roc.

So, anyone else had enough of all the latest and greatest?

Yeah. But then something like the Scale comes along and I realize that there are amazing molds yet to be. Oddly enough though, I've mostly been going back to older discs lately and enjoying them more than ever.

After buying over 150 discs over the past 4 years to try & get the latest and greatest, I too have said "enough is enough."

Actually it was sometime last year after Prodigy hit the market & Innova came out with GStar plastic. Geez! Do I really need to have my favorite discs in every new blend of plastic that the manufacturers try to jam down our throats? The answer is NO.

But that's just me. If you want to keep buying more, you'll get no stink-eye from me.

That is part of what makes this sport/hobby/addiction fun. Right now there are so many companies,discs, and plastics out there for purchase. I do buy/try some new stuff from time to time but it is mostly new to me "older" molds or molds I throw in a different or "new blend" plastic.

I know my arm and skill set and am not being delusional and buying every warp speed, mega OVER-stable, distance driver that companies are droppin' every week or so.

Now I do enjoy trying putters and since I have re-discovered the midrange. I have bought and tried a few of those. Funny thing is I have settled on the classics of the mid...Z Comet, Z Buzz, and my trusty DX Cobras.

I have have bought a few putters as well, I even have a new Atom on the way just for kicks! Because my go to mold for putters is the Mercy and they are not going any where.

Now go and session up/beat in that Cobra, enjoy the DX glide and flight of the "ole days"!

"Rediscovered" is the perfect word for it. In the last several months I've gone back to Orions, Teebirds, KC and DX Rocs, and Wizards and put away almost everything "new". But it is hard to argue with discs like the Envy or the Scale.

I have bought some discs lately in the new plastics (Fluid Judge, G* Roc, G* Teebird) but they're old discs I know. I'm pretty much comfortable with what I use and it took me a awhile to find that comfort level.

The only "new" mold I bought last year was a Thunderbird.

I have classics, modified classics and relative newcomers residing ITB - all mingling in complete harmony. If you have the resources and/or patience to sift through the onslaught of molds and variations from all of the manufacturers out there, go for it!

I had the "discovery" phase when my game started getting a little more serious than the casual round once a month. Exclusively staying under the Innova umbrella, I was still amazed at the options and spent some serious $$ trying to find the right discs for me.

At the moment, I am comfortable with my bag and feel it is complete. Now, I just have to worry about backups and maybe try out some different plastics/weights. Aviar/Roc/Destroyer are classics for a reason. The FD did manage to kick Teebirds out, though! Discmania seriously knows what they're doing!

I am pretty good at not getting sucked into the "new hotness" but early on, I would buy the latest and greatest of everything. Back then, I was oblivious to the fact that there were different disc weights too... I've come a long way, baby!

Yep. I'm done too. Last winter I decided to learn some discs and work on form rather than just buying every new release. Stripped the bag down to a Gazelle, Leopard, Buzzz, Roc, and Aviar. Added in a few discs as I found shots that those five discs couldn't handle (and discs that were better versions of the aforementioned five). But I look at my bag, and I've been throwing the same molds for a year now. No changes. And guess what? I've set personal bests at every single course I've played in the past six months...

never. that's the fun part to DG these days. People stuck on old molds with a million backups are who I feel sorry for. Hell even pros these days are not using the "go-to" molds they once bagged forever SPECAILLY in 2015.

they are just round flying things and its fun to try them out. Plastic technology is always improving as well as designs/techniques or even the equipment which is being used to make the discs and so on.

Do you think golfers don't keep up on the newest clubs, balls, etc?! Fishermen not checking out new reels, tackle, line? the list goes on and on and on.

In trying to understand what Innova did. They took a TeeBird, added 1 speed but took away 1 glide, same as the TL to come up with the TeeBird3 and TL3. If you added another 1 speed and take away another 1 glide, the TeeBird becomes a Firebird-L (FL). Now take the Firebird and add 2 speed and take away 2 fade, now you have the Thunderbird. Or you can add 2 speed to a Firebird-L and get the Thunderbird. I think Innova needed more speed 8 drivers since the only ones they had were the Archangel and the Dragon, two choices that I would veer away from, although I began this journey with an Archangel. And since the Firebird-L is hard to find or maybe just recently taken out of circulation, they felt another stable to OS speed 9 driver was needed, hence the Thunderbird.

I'm still an Innova guy, but the recent releases from Innova have left me looking at other speed 7/8 drivers from other companies. I do love the G-Star plastic but am baffled as to which models will be produced in which plastics and how they make those decisions.

Perhaps we should start a plasticoholic anonymous group I'm almost at the point of not caring about new discs, but I'm so easily tempted. I could build 6 or 7 solid bags with all the plastic I've accumulated over the years. I haven't sold much off, and periodically cycle old stuff back into the fray.

I get tired of all the new releases sometimes, but it's still awesome to have that much variety to choose from.

Also new plastic is always interesting. I don't think Innova needs any more molds, though.

I love trying new things, never a dull day these days with all of the new discs.

New ones are great but less and less is penetrating my bag. And often when I lose a disc, I'll have something similar if not the same to replace it.

For example; lost a Roc3, had a Yao at the house, after a couple of throws I felt almost the same about the two.
