ANDROID APP IS OUT!!

Can't wait to see the iOS version, I'll happily drop $5 on it. The major thing keeping me from using the scorebook on the site is my own laziness, I like using a phone app and I never feel like going back and transferring things once I get home, sounds like this might actually get me to use it. :p

Yea, I'm actually looking to buy an old iPhone very soon so I can start testing as soon as there's something to test.

And as far as the price, it's not like DGCR is a big company, I'm one guy that invested many thousands of dollars into getting these apps developed. Plus bug fixes and future updates, all of which I'm paying for. If I make my money back I'll be very happy but I have to sell a crap load of apps to even manage that.

pecosROB, yes, at the end of your round you have the option to "Submit to DGCR". That will upload your round to a Mobile Queue on the site where you can just sort of make sure everything is as it should be (and if not, edit it) and then hit "Approve" to add it to your Scorebook.

ncrspike, it's a couple of months out.

I can wait a couple months since i'm not playing much in the snow this winter, but i'll definitely buy it to save time entering it twice...and i like tracking my progress so i enter all full rounds regardless.

Just bought it, but haven't played around with it yet. Question though: What about importing scores? I tried to enter in both DGCR and EasyScorecard, but eventully got lazy and just kept using EasyScoreCard since my phone was always handy during my round. But I like the stats and such on DGCR better and now wish I had all my scores back into my DGCR scorebook.

I'm in the same boat. I have looked at other scoring apps but have been using EasyScorecard pro for every round for the last few years and love having the stats. I don't want to move over to another one and basically start over. While i will probably give this new DGCR app a try, I doubt I will use it for my scoring until I am able to migrate all my scores over.

You can test the app in the emulator. You don't really NEED to wait or spend money on an iPhone. You can start porting it now! :)

Is DGCR's integration with disc Caddy 2 going to be discontinued?

Sounds like you're probably stuck with ESC then.

Oh, it's already actively in development. I want to test with an actual device though.

If I'm starting on a hole other than hole 1, I just use the slider above the scores (where it shows hole #) and go to where I need to start, then when it hits the summary screen, scroll back to hole 1.

Understood, Stardoggy. It's how I've been doing it. Just hoping the extra convenience feature can be added and Timg says yes, sometime down the road.

Yup, definitely planned in a future update.

Well said. The time, energy, creative thought, and money that goes into creating and maintaining a site of this caliber is significant. It's a labor of love, more than anything else, and those of us who benefit from it ought to have no qualms about supporting it one way or another.

My thoughts exactly. I will purchase the iOS version once it comes out.

$5 seems reasonable for the sake of supporting the site. How did you decide to go the pay up front route instead of having it be ad-supported?

It seems like you'll have the sure money upfront this way, but you'd probably have more users and a long term stream of cash if you did a free ad-supported version instead.

edit: I'm generally curious from a business standpoint. I don't claim to be an expert on the app market.

I purchased it as soon as I saw it available. After a few minutes of playing around, I'm probably going to stick with Easy Scorecard on the course and inputting data into DGCR manually when I get home. Glad to support the site, though. I'll keep an eye out for improvements and such, but with me not being a premium member (yet), some features are disabled, and Easy Scorecard has some things (like weather) already built-in so that I don't have to select anything.

Edit: You should probably update the membership option details in the store to reflect the bonus features with the app.

I cannot STAND apps that are loaded down and watered down with ads. I would much rather pay the 5.00 bucks, then have to look at god awful ads everytime I want to use the app.

Plus, on another note: All you people that are saying "It's only five bucks, It's the least I can contribute for everything we are given here" Then why don't you buy a crown for 5 bucks to support the site? That has been an option for AWHILE now. You have your choice of 5, 10, 15 or 25 bucks. It's just that easy. Here, I'll link the store for you.

Bought it and I like it so far. It's very smooth between options and the gps works well.

You can import all your Scorebook rounds into the app if you're a premium member. Easy Scorecard on the other hand... not much I can do about that. We talked about it a while back but the only export option for ESC was a round by round one or something, it would be a hassle to export it all and then upload each file one by one here if I made a converter thing.

Easy to export all stats from easy scorecard. Parsing the data shouldn't take long at all.
