I have dyed several discs and I am not really a fan. I prefer drawing directly onto my discs.
As I finish discs I will drop photos of them into this thread

first up:
DX Rhyno with a crazed warthog

Pretty cool! What did you use? Does it wipe off? Smudge? Fade? Do you use a stencil?

It's sharpie; it will last for a real long time without bleeding. I didn't plan real well and his goatee spilled onto the Thumtrac. The perimeter Sharpie will eventually wear off but in my experience it will take a year of playing before that happens. I'll draw it back on when that happens.
I have a sharpied disc that was the first purchase I made so it is 15 years old... Sharpie is in the middle of the disc and still looks great :)
I prefer drawing over dyeing for several reasons. The eventual bleed of the dye is a big reason. The other is that I like DX plastic

No stencil, no pre-existing image... just my imagination, 1 thick Sharpie and 1 thin Sharpie. I don't knowingly copy other people's work

This made me chuckle. Nice job! I've always thought it was amazing how people can draw something straight from their head. My uncle is an incredible artist and as a kid I'd always ask him to draw things and he'd be able to do it in minutes just from his imagination. It always blew my mind watching him do it. I unfortunately didn't inherit that talent. Haha!

My son did some sharpie art on a disc and I got more comments on that than any dye, ever.
Sadly, it was picked up and never returned.

Nice art, btw.

That is outstanding...
I'd like to see what you could do to a Fossil Serpent.
That plastic blend feels like it'd work great for Sharpie work.

Long time no see!
ZAM-
last time we spoke, the world had not been ruined by Carly Rae and Whitney Houston and DGR were both still alive... its been that long!

speaking of compliments, the 2011 Asia Open dragon stamp is still one of my favorite TFRs. EVER.

Everyone else:
I learned a lot from ZAM; y'all should pay attention to his work

Nothing! You've paid me in compliments with this doodle, thank you.
You wouldn't feel complimented if you could see it; kinda looked like a constipated chicken. :| I still bag one of those; I look at the stamp all the time and remember when DGR was a thing.

Cool concept. The bottom part of the bird looks like it was getting there, but the head and top of the wings don't match up very well. It sorta looks like somebody started the picture and somebody else finished it. Otherwise I like the overall idea quite a bit. It also proves you are not crazy, 'cause when you said sharpie art on a disc would last I thought "Dude has lost his marbles."

This holds up well on DX? That would be a pretty cool option for me since I still throw a lot of DX. Of course my art would be waaayyy worse than yours, but still...

Ditto. Most sharpie drawings I've seen on discs seemed juvenile or were simply a notch below mediocre art talent at best... your stuff seems like it'd be something someone would be proud to have on their disc. I can see people asking you for specific stuff, basically being commissioned for specific drawings... if you're willing to do that.

thanks!
I'll get around to finessing her pretty soon. I throw mostly eagles now but the graphic still works :)

In the meantime, here is the one from tonight
DX Rhyno again... I really wanted to crank this one out so I can start using the Warthog/Rhyno pair
In other news, this waxy DX has me concerned about the longevity of the Sharpie but touch-ups are a breeze so I'm not worried

proof:
DX Aviar from 1999-ish, Sharpie applied shortly after I got it
hundreds of rounds later

and to prove how nooby/nerdy I was, here's the back; I added the flight numbers so I could remember what it was supposed to do. In 1999 "3/3/0/1" meant go straight for 50' and crash hard left :D

Thanks' that's what I strive for :)
I obviously take more pride with my more recent stuff compared to my early stuff :\
