[Discmania] PDX

Here are 3 different days of my findings with the PDX

Keep in mind,I removed the flashing from one and that's the one I'm throwing.
Day 1
Got a little testing out of one and it was slightly less stable than i anticipated.it is still beefy though but in a good forward fading way, like the pd. I donthave any CDDs but it flew similar to my s lines. not quite as OS as my cpd2 but it still held a line in the wind and flew nice and stable. I got mine to go straight a good ways and hook up late, plastic is amazing, nice and grippy new c line.

I want more time with it on more open holes and into stronger headwind but I think it will make the bag,it flew great today and I never wished I didn't throw it.

Day 2
Got more time in with mine and I'm liking it more as I get to throw it. I am a little surprised but not disappointed. I removed the sharp flashing initially and got a chance to throw it on a course with longer holes and more wind being a factor. The PDX just flies super straight and has a late fade just like the PD has into wind. These were all mostly headwind or left to right wind shots. the PDX did not perform like a unthrowable meat hook, It was actually workable and very reliable. I now need to try it on more open courses where I can actually try to get more flight out of it in a flex shot. It has yet to flip or turn on my but as straight as it is and still consistently fades,I can see it being a great workable disc into wind.

I'm hoping discmania releases more or makes this a stock release at some point.it's a good disc so far and I think people will enjoy it more as time goes by IMO.

The disc sort of reminds me of my SDDs but a little more forward fading at the end of the flight and less turn than my early runs. Compared to my newer run SDD,it's got less HSS but only a little.

Either way,I think removing the flashing was a good choice and the reason why lots of people are seeing somewhat different flights.

Day3

Alright,so I have had a little more experience with my PDX on a more open course with more wind. The other day when I first I tested the PDX,the wind was about 8mph.yesterday,the wind was about 14 or so,and it flew a little different. First few shots were in heavy left to right wind with lots of room to throw a flex shot.so I threw it with a slight anhyzer out left and watched the wind carry it right while still penetrating forward, then it flattened out and the faded out back left.this is what I initially expected after the other throws I had with it the previous day and it being extremely straight. Few more holes later the wind was still pushing in the same direction so I threw it again.only this time,it flipped over unintentionally and didn't fight back.now,I'm chalking that throw up with just bad release + heavy wind and not enough height.however,I figured it would have still tried to fight back left somewhat. After that, the other throws were the same into headwind or crosswind, flew straight or I got a nice flex out of it with some fade at the end.

So,with those findings,it flew more like my SDD's that I have, rather than the beefcake everyone else is experiencing. My disc could be an anomaly I suppose but how many others have removed the flashing after their initial throws to find it change and become more workable?

Anyone else who has pink xouts find that they're getting the same flight as myself?

Im now on the fence of guaranteeing a spot in the bag until I get more time with it,it just seems to overlap with my DD's I already have in there. I'm not giving up on them, but I essentially thought this would be something to replace my pd2 with more control.

Id like to THrow one but haven't had the chance.... Cant find them.

I guess no one is really throwing the pdx

I would be tempted to buy one to test out if they were a stock release with stock pricing. It's not a slot I normally bag (too much overlap with destroyers for my ~400 foot arm), so there's no way I'd pay $20 + shipping for one just to test. And if I really liked it and they just kept it as a fundraiser disc and never released a stock run, then I'd be screwed to find backups if I did want to bag it. That's pretty much my feelings about it. I probably should have picked up a few of them to resell though since I could probably have made a few $$ that way.

I've been throwing mine regularly, and I agree with most of booter's statements, especially his experience on day 2 of throwing. Once the flashing came off, my PDX became much straighter and more workable, still has a good fade but not huge like a PD2.

It sounds like the pink x-outs mights have been a little less stable as mine is definitely more OS than a DD and holds up to most winds, I'd like to hear other people's experience with x-outs vs production, and the flight differences across color runs. I'm enjoying the PDX and it's going to stay in my bag for now, but I don't see myself shelling out large amounts of money to hoard these discs when I can get a Sexton DD that will do roughly the same thing.

I almost feel as though this disc should have been called the DDX, I feel like besides the stamp and the forward fade there isn't anything that makes me associate this disc with a PD or PD2.

I've been throwing two of them, one with flashing and one without flashing. The one with flashing is similar in flight to my flat top C-PD2, but with way better glide and a forward finishing overstability. The one without flashing flies a lot like a Champy-Star DD that I've been throwing lately. It will turn a little into a headwind, but have a reliable fade at the end. Have yet to see it not come back at the end of its flight. I would really like to see this disc in S-Line. I think with a little bit of wear and no flashing, this thing would flat out crush.

The one thing that surprises me everytime I throw it, is just how much glide this thing has for its late overstability.

Didn't bother throwing mine, I have everything nicely filled already. These go for good money at Finnish disc auction, I rather took the money. A clear one was sold for 111 euros. Others from 30 to 60 euros.

After spending a bit of time with the PDX this weekend, it's funny that no one has mentioned the slightly plus rim on it. While it's not as pronounced as the 2nd run C-Line PDs or TDs, it's definitely there. I'm not a fan of plus rims and I'm not really liking how it feels in the hand.

After removing the razor sharp flashing the flight was pretty much exactly what Booter described in his post; workable distance with a reliable forward fade at ~400' of power. It's not a PD or PD2 replacement IMO.

I got to throw mine some more this past weekend on a couple different courses with more defined fairways to use. The pdx ,to me,Is basically the cpd I just lost a few weeks ago. I've been using it on all the same shots and it has been performing almost the exact same. Slightly faster and seemingly more glide but not much more than that particular PD. Its kind of weird,it wasn't flipping over as much as it did the previous weekend but it was workable.

I kinda like it still,it came at a good time because I really liked the pd I lost. I don't have a great forehand but it flew very straight with my power.

Idk how I feel about it exactly,it's sort of just there in my bag.it's not something I'm crazy about but it's something I use. I'd love to see how it would fly in S line or in a gummier c line.

Heard through the grapevine that McBeth is liking the intial tests of the PDx over his first run PDs. Maybe we will see it featured in his next ITB?

Same here. It's been really cold lately(single digits), so the PDx feels like a brick right now and stays home. I would love a ChampyStar PDx as well :D

I must say, I would change the glide number on it to 5. These things just seem to want to glide with that big old dome on them.

Yeah, this champ is pretty firm and sucks in the mild cold temps here down south. The good thing is it's the new grippy champ so that helps. I would thoroughly enjoy a gummy c or s line over this though.

I cannot fathom how you would keep that killer flashing on there. Especially forehand I can imagine skin peeling off in no time.

I removed my flashing when I first got them, way too sharp for me.that could be the reason so many are experiencing the extra stability that I am not.

Or they are just being smart with marketing. If McBeth likes it more will buy it right...

Anyone thinking of replacing PD's with them? My PDs are getting less use with the FD2 in my bag, and it sounds like the PDX doesn't overlap PD2 very much. If/when these go production I will give them a shot.

The more I throw Discmania stuff, the more I'm liking them. I bag a DD2 (just about to kick my boss out of the bag), PD2 and CD. Need to pick up a FD and try their midrange stuff, but I'm definitely interested in giving the PDX a run.
