The Inevitable 2017 Pros Switching Sponsors Thread

Im just waiting for the "Has Prodigy Discs peaked?" Thread

Unfortunately, speaking as a Prodigy Fanboi, yes... they have. 3-4 years ago, I used to see at least 1/2 the people on Michigan courses with a couple Prodigy discs. Mostly mids and putters. Now? It's a rare time that I see more that an F7 or a couple putters in a week during peak times. I still hold that they have plenty exceptional molds. The PA1, PA3, PA4, M1 (original mold), M4, F2, F5, and F7 are consistent and truly great discs. Their drivers get really squirrelly in consistency. That's their big downfall... People want a fast driver and you can get D3s and D1s that both are massively overstable and on the same hand, you can get two D3s that have what you'd swear was a 6 glide and one that's a 1 glide. Shame... I've had some consistency issues with fairways as well, but not nearly as bad, and their mids and putters are still bees knees to me.

That original M1 was the heat. I also think all their putters are great..loved playing the Par 2 challenge and I hope they keep that going. The original M3 which became the M2 I think was pretty rad.

They do have good discs and their plastic blends rule but they just never took over disc golf like I assume they hoped. Oh well. I doubt they will be closing shop anytime soon, and they still have the Ulibarris and Leviska and of course Shusterick. Plenty of stars.

I agree about the M1 and M3 protos/production M2s. Both were solid faster mids, but they were fairly similar to one another. I always had the feeling that an M1 cycle would render the other molds pointless. Same with the PA1 and PA2.

One other problem they have is that HUGE hole between Speed 10 and Speed 13 discs. I know they geared themselves towards the pros, but by ignoring an important speed range, they lost a big potential market with casual/amateur players.

Yeah, that is a big gap. I wonder if they even have enough cash in the budget to develop more molds to fill out that range now, even if they wanted to..

If there were POWER RANKINGS - Innova ^^^ and DD ^^ / Prodigy vvvv

Wait, which way did Discraft go in the power rankings? Also, why isn't DG power rankings a thing?

Should we start?

I think he's talking about ranking manufacturers or their teams, not individual players although Ulti's individual player rankings could be consolidated to say add the current rankings of the top 3 men and 1 woman of each sponsor.

I've thought about doing that, for sure. Just debating if it makes sense or if it would be dominated too much by one team.

It's possible one team could dominate like Alabama most of the time. But doing the rankings might subtly cause a shift over time.

No, I'm talking about ranking the companies themselves. Things like new disc releases (good and bad), new plastics, best team members, best marketing, best social media, best line of accessories, best support of tournaments, etc.

I think that's what I said. The team rankings might be just one criteria.
