Hey gang,

I was just wondering if any other companies had something equivalent to the Innova Pro Shop website. Somewhere you can find low number productions, out of prints, factory seconds, and special run discs. I haven't had any luck so far but maybe I'm not looking in the right places?

Screw the innova proshop and all the other direct sale manufacturers sites. It is terrible. Support your local disc golf retailer (or any real dg retailers)

Some of the stamp creators have their own sites for LE stuff too.

Honestly, thats totally true... and its got to suck as a retail location thats been around awhile to have to adapt to the changing environment. But, when most people don't have much more than a PIAS, there's that to consider, too.

Spend your money as you see fit, it's your money. Anyone telling you how and where to spend your money is as bad as someone telling you how and where and when to go to church.

MERICA!

Yeah I do that already, but no brick and mortar stores I've ever been in have never really had limited run selections at all. Never seen any tour series discs in a store.

I think it's a cool way for companies like Innova to run small batches of discs that people like but are out of production, or there are small niche markets that will buy them (for example, premium plastic gazelles)

Innova (or who ever) can still run all those LE/SE discs and distribute them to their retail partner's vs charge more for shipping vs any other normal dg retailer plus a premium on a disc they made directly.

No brick and mortar stores carry tbat stuff bc innova offers no real discount wholesale wise. This discussion has been done over a few times now. I just really hate innova and dc competing with their retail partner's it really is BS.

Most disc golfers have the internet. Thats where these sales are generated so PIAS is not even in play nor any brick and mortar location as it isnt like you can walk into innova and just select discs off the shelf then go pay for them lol.

If they are selling stuff that they don't distribute to the stores how are the competing with their retail outlets?

This isn't even the discussion. I'm glad you have an opinion on it, but I wanted to see what different companies had out there for factory pro shops.

I get the sense that the guys at the local shop are a bit frustrated with Innova choosing to be a competitor with their dealers. As has been said before, I've been told that Innova doesn't make it easy for their dealers to carry factory store releases.

You can buy any of the Pro Shop stuff as a dealer, they just charge you more for it. You make less profit or charge more at the retail level.

I dont feel that it hurts me as a retailer in any way if they sell "retail" prices. I would feel different if the pro shop sold Champ plastic at the dealer cost of $9 ish a disc.

I sell Innova at the Bike Shop I manage, it doesn't bother me at all that they sell retail themselves. My local customers are beginners looking to get started thats why I only stock DX plastic.

I buy all my plastic on line anyway as well, Innova sucks when it comes to ordering from them at a dealer level. I have NO color choice, NO exact weight choice, even if I am ordering for myself. I have to tell people if they want specifics to order it on line because I cant exacts for them.

You guys complaining about this should look at the bike industry...I can buy parts from online vendors cheaper than I can get direct from the manufacturer. Especially when it comes to Shimano or Sram components. I know it is different since Shimano of Sram does not sell retail direct and if they did they would starve cause no one would pay the "retail price" for it.

Shops are dumb if they feel that it is competing against them OR hurting their sales....EVERYONE buys stuff on the internet, that is just how it is in the modern era.

So, you only sell DX plastic? You are basically saying it doesn't matter to you because you carry a limited disc golf inventory.

Okay.

Okay.

Disc Golf is new in our area and the the NON DGCR savvy dont care that I am only selling DX plastic to them. We stock beginner friendly molds at a beginner friendly price to get them started.

I give them solid advice, I am more than happy to help them choose molds that they can throw, get started in the game AND hopefully enjoy it enough to stick around.

We are the only retailer that sells Discs in our town as well.

That's cool. I wasn't knocking you. Good to hear you are supporting the cause and spreading the word.

By your own admission, you don't see the factory store as competition because your customers aren't looking for Sexton Firebirds, Leatherman Terns, Brinster's, etc.

For those who are trying to sell plastic as their livelihood, having the largest manufacturer sell things in direct competition with you could be seen as a problem.

Say someone wants a Sexton. Local shop doesn't have it. Customer goes to factory store. While there, might as well get some back up throwers. Local shop just lost some business.

Bike riding, DX throwing casuals might not have the same concerns.

Sounds like your situation is an apples to kiwis type of thing.

There was a time just recently where discraft was selling xouts i think cheaper vs cost for dealers.

And Victor that is the point they dont distribute the good $ making stuff just throw out the scraps. Innova is not (or should not be) a disc golf retailer.
