[Innova] What Discs Does Innova Need To OOP

Groove, Monarch, maybe the Kite.

Viking and Archon are great discs, in fact I believe the Viking was one of the owners favorite molds.

OP, I may have misread, but did you suggest they OOP the Cheetah, Gazelle, and Cobra?

Don't kill the Kite! a star kite is the best first driver for most new players.

The Lycan may be done. I was on the Innova Factory site a few months ago and I recall seeing the thing listed. The Star Cobra and Coyote are there now with a few others.

Seeing as how Discraft has recently mass-OOPed a large amount of models as well as plastic/mold combinations I decided to start a thread on what discs that Innova should OOP as they have a more cluttered lineup than any other disc manufacturer.
My list (sorry if your disc is on here)
Groove
Monarch
Archon (make room for the Mystere)
TeeDevil (the DDx fill this slot with added gilde as a bonus)
Viking (make room for the Savant)
Wolf
Archangel
Dominate
Skeeter
Aero
Lycan

I feel that there is also some molds that might be mentioned but they aren't bad molds they just aren't offered in the right plastics (Gazelle, Cheetah, Cobra, SL, TL3, Viper/Whippet)

The Lycan went OOP some time ago, IIRC. Might can still find some here and there, and at the Proshop.

I'm all about Innova making as many discs as possible.

I'm kinda glad they have been keeping strong midranges in the market as I've always said it was their best quality (but not only).

Just bring out/back the Gazelle & XD (flat) in the new DX and I can get the rest of my discs elsewhere.

I was. What DX mold has come out since that tells you it's already gone?

So this just came from DGU's twitter account:

I really don't like the sound of "softer, flexy feel" for new DX Thunderbirds. It sounds like Innova might have only had a small batch of the Thunderbird DX plastic and it's finally run out. Maybe this is not the case, but given that they haven't run anything else in their lineup in this blend of DX, I tend to think they didn't have that much of it to begin with. I just bought the 4 heaviest DX Thunderbirds Infinite had left (175 and 171). DGC didn't have any DX's above 150. I'd say if you like amazing stiff DX plastic, buy the current run Thunderbirds while you can!

From the Thunderbird thread

Ahhh, freedom from choice... that's what we want.

I never get these threads. Complaining that a fringe sport has too many choices.. wtf?

Oh, and I seem to recall the Pain being awful Roc-like as well

I guess the complaints would have to be more specific.

Too many choices is rough for new players.

Cutting the lineup would create room for more desirable OOP discs and or plastic options.

Idk. Seems like it could at least be a discussion. I'm not sure I want to see cuts but it's not crazy to have a thread.

Nah, people can talk about things all they want. I just find it funny, remembering the choices of the early 90s

I was there. DX or DX.

Too many choices isn't always the best business model. There's a valid argument to be made to minimize disc choices from innova's side of the debate.

I have a love/hate relationship with gateway's plastic options as well.

Correct, but typically that's a manufacturer complaint.. not a consumer one ;)

With that said, the picks tend to be simply molds the poster doesn't throw, without regard to the market penetration of that mold (the Roc being a prime case in point in this thread). If I were to go that route.. Innova could ditch everything except the Teebird, Roc, Polecat and Destroyer.

From the Thunderbird thread

Yep, we have multiple confirmations now that the new (now current) run of Thunderbirds is significantly softer and less stiff than the old run (although still flat). If you can find some of the first run stiff DX Thunderbirds on the shelves still near you, grab them while you can!

Yup. That was my point. The discussion of innova's business model is a valid way to have the discussion of what to cut.

I don't mind reading what people don't like to throw either.
