"This was a tough situation across the board. I will start off by explaining the purpose of the Trilogy Challenge. We hope to accomplish a few goals with each event hosted. The first goal is to provide a tournament format that is easy to run and can help raise money for charity and also clubs for course improvements. We want new players to be able to play a round of golf and have all of the products needed to play included in their player pack. We provide 3 discs, a mini, T-shirt, scorecard and pencil for $35. We also include a winners pack and prizes. The second goal is to offer the experienced players an opportunity to throw unreleased discs at a great value. We ask for and require TD's to order products 2 weeks prior to their events. We had a container that was delayed with the products needed for 22 registered events. The TD's of these 22 events ordered their players packs 2 weeks or more prior to the event. When we realized there was going to be a shortage for 22 events we organized shipments direct from Sweden to their event. All 22 of the TD's received their player packs in time and yes it was a close call. Most showed up the day before which is certainly not ideal but is what we had to work with.
We had a handful of TD's order their players packs on 6/5 and 6/6 for events on 6/10 and 6/11. This was not enough lead time with our delayed container situation, but we still wanted to help as much as we could. We had enough inventory of the River Pro and the Deputy, so we offered to substitute the Westside mid range with a different Westside midrange instead of just canceling their event. A canceled event can defeat the purpose of raising money for the organization they were trying to help so we made the call and gave options. In hindsight it appears we may have made the wrong call based on the backlash we are receiving, but we did make the call and we will stand behind our decisions. There was a Kansas event where the TD registered 2 events and we overlooked the first one. That was 100% our mistake, and we will work to make it right.
I sympathize for any of the players that showed up to an event with the understanding that they would be playing with 3 unreleased discs and did not get to experience throwing the Pine. I can certainly understand the disappointment. I would like to ask the players that felt cheated or wronged by their event to email
[email protected] with registration proof to receive a Pine free of charge. The container with the Pine is scheduled to arrive on June 15th. We do not anticipate any product shortages for the remaining registered events. I hope everyone that took the time to read this will register an event today, so that we can meet the demands for the future. New events equal more money for the sport or charity and new players in the game! Everyone at Dynamic Discs is committed to providing great products, events and service to help grow the sport we all love. Thanks for reading and get out and play disc golf!"
